I just hope this game can be balanced properly. Right now it seems every characters have so many stuffs in their kits, and looks like most characters don't have a fixed role.

I feel like they all have a fixed role pretty much. I've read somebodies blog who had a go at some convention on the game and they said that it is fun after the first few games and when you get to know the characters. But its incredibly unbalanced when you have a certain combination of people. Like there is this map where there is some sort of Tram and if you have a Tank with the Shield up, a Defence guy with a Turret and the Sniper. They just owned everyone easily and it was really overpowered.

Even then I'd say most of the characters have pretty well defined roles. Tracer is like the Scout in TF2 - hit and run skirmisher, Pharah seems like the tank buster/disruptor, Winston and Reinhardt are both tanks - nothing confusing there, Mercy obviously is the healer and Widowmaker is the sniper obviously. The only one I'm confused about is Reaper, I don't feel like the slow teleport fits in with the rest of his kit at all, I can't see it being used for initiating a fight or even for getting around the map due to how slow it is. And with his ultimate and shotguns, you'd figure he'd be more of a glass cannon class, but he's got around 250 health, which - if you discount the two tanks - is on the very high end of the spectrum, it's higher than Pharah, who you'd figure would be tanky.
The robot monk dude feels redundant, he just gives buffs and debuffs, medic's job. Both symmetra and torbjorn build sentries. Symmetra is just more broken because she can spam what is essentially minisentries from TF2 and have up to 8 of them up at a time, and has a ridiculous ultimate attack on top of that. Playtesters agreed the hero is broken (especially when there's multiple of them). Winston and reinhardt are also identical classes in what they do, except winston is outright less practical.
Winston and reinhardt are also identical classes in what they do, except winston is outright less practical.
The difference I see is that Reinhardt is more about crowd control than Winston with his charge and aoe stun, Winston's more of a bruiser with his rage mode and ability to jump around the place. I don't think both of them need a shield though, I'd probably take that off Winston and give him something that enforces his bruiser role.
I think for us to enjoy this game is to forcefully NOT compare it to TF2. Completely seperate them in your mind and only look at the positives within the game. Not the good points that TF2 doesn't have, but literally ALL the positives in it that you like, whether TF2 has them or not. JUST. DONT. COMPARE. THEM.
Their utility lies within their shield for the most part. Nobody really wants to have a player with the ability to spawn a huge shield that a whole team can hide behind going around trying to melee people on the other team. Winston has the misfortune of not having a mobile shield like reinhardt, unless he places it on the payload. That is apparently the real dealbreaker here. This is actually making me optimistic. The memo that you can play any hero at any time without any dota-esque ban system, paired with the fact that abilities aren't bought or given via experience or anything but are simple timed/damage done/taken-based systems like in TF2 really made me look forward to the game much much more. [editline]10th November 2014[/editline] Although apparently all weapons can headshot, which I'd rather not have. But we'll see.

But i know for a fact people are just going to compare it to TF2 and be like "TF2 does this better, TF2 does that better" and then when theres new stuff its going to be like "This would be cool if it was in TF2" and just create a negative thing. there are many pesimistic people out there
I really want to try Reaper. To continue to compare this to TF2, he seems less like the Spy and more like a Backburner Pyro with more stealth utility: Get in quietly or wait patiently in a hiding spot, do a lot of burst damage as fast as you can, and run back out when they're done panicking. Ambush classes are one of my favourite things, so I'm really hoping he's designed as such. I don't really like his character design but I never like Blizzard's character design much so this is to be expected.

Torbjorn has one strong mid-range turret, Symettra has multiple short-range turrets. Winston has a globe shield for point defense, Reinhardt has a directional shield for pushing. There are multiple classes fit to each role, but they all perform them differently and are better suited for different scenarios.
Tracer has the best hairstyle.
What do you think about Tracer's accent?
Can't understand a word. I much prefer this approach over scout/femscout though. [editline]10th November 2014[/editline] Oh yeah and about it not being genuine, I can't give less fucks. Accents being fake in all forms of entertainment is something we could get used to in the past 100 years.
What do you think about Tracer's accent?
Killed off my boner pretty quickly.
Hanzo kinda reminds me of someone...
Hanzo reminded me of Yasha from Asura's Wrath.
Just watched the trailer. Tracer is already my favorite. Gotta love spunky brits
I also want to see the payment model they will adopt before jumping on the hype train. If it's F2P cosmetics only ala DOTA 2 why not. Otherwise they can fuck right off.

(one time payment = you own the game, maybe a cash shop for cosmetics) It's a bit early to say but personally I think I could drop $50 on this

If you only have to buy the game once and there's no other bullshit, then i'm perfectly fine with it. If the game is cosmetics F2P or buy-once-no-bullshit it's ok. Otherwise it would be sad.
Stolen from reddit [t]http://i.imgur.com/qYRSJ3L.jpg[/t] It's class select screen in case you're too busy checking out your waifu
Most I can spend on a game like this is $20 if it isn't free to play.
yeah, this kind of game usually hardly justifies a 60$ expense, unless it's packed with content to the brim

Blizzard consider it a compliment, and I haven't seen anyone saying the similarity to TF2 is a bad thing.
to argue that this game is not similar to TF2 is retarded, but that's only because it's pretty much the only other class based shooter where each class has their own distinct personality (or personality at all) i'm on the fence about this game. i've yet to enjoy anything made by blizzard that isn't diablo 2
I'ts going to be Free to Play with Always-Online DRM :)
I'ts going to be Free to Play with Always-Online DRM :)
Well it's a competitive shooter, so the always online part is a bit irrelevant.
