I think the only thing that could kill TF2 would be TF3.
it's a very reliable projectile if you know what a parabolic trajectory is, know the travel time, can accurately predict enemy movement, and make sure to charge your shots. all of these are skill based factors. if people aren't playing him effectively they need to take a step back and consider what they're working with.
This would be a fair point but consider his numbers and the general effort:effectiveness ratio. Consider that Hanzo also doesn't have any close-range capabilities or any kind of CC, or any kind of escape bar his wall-climb which is more of a positioning tool than an escaping one. You might be really good with the bow, but someone could use McCree's pistol and not have to deal with any of those factors while dealing out very similar DPS.
There really isn't much point in claiming Overwatch will kill TF2 since they both kinda fill different shooter niches. TF2 looks far more "quake-like" and Overwatch seems much more centered around team balance funnily enough. Not to mention TF2 has a pretty well established community that has held pretty steady play numbers for a while. Overwatch will probably cause a bit of a dip in player numbers but there will probably be a number of people that play both games.
I am genuinely worried will Overwatch be the death of TF2? Because TF2 was never really the most maintained game basically the community develops it and they get paid very little for their efforts. Essentially paid mods.
If TF2 dies, it will be at it's own hand more than anyone elses.
While TF2 is far from dead, it has definitely lost its appeal over the last few years imo.
While TF2 is far from dead, it has definitely lost its appeal over the last few years imo.
There's game traders that won't even take tf2 keys anymore(Or take like twice the amount compared to csgo keys) :v:
Considering it's from 2007, it's astonishing how many still play it. But yeah, someday it's going to be dead.
Call me weird, but I get the feel Valve's been slowly pulling the plug for a few years now. I can't quite tell why, so it may just be me naturally losing interest. [editline]13th November 2015[/editline] I still stand by my word, even if TF2 died for real, Overwatch would not be the next TF2, ever. It doesn't check all the boxes most TF2 players need, it's just different altogether.
To remain in Overwatch talk, I feel Dva could use a more exciting gameplay. Maybe it's just me or it's too early.

You're Hanzo because you're interested in being an aggressive sniper. McCree has damage falloff now which drastically limits his effectiveness as a stand-in sniper. They are two different characters who fill different roles.
Still disappointed DVa isn't based hugely on Starcraft. They just say she's a Starcraft player, and put her in a mech. The constant "gaymur lel" jokes get old, too.

(either that or it's some weird official fanfiction shit I don't follow Starcraft) http://wcs.battle.net/sc2/en/players/dva She doesn't need to be anything else. It's just being homage to a real person.

D'Va's suit design and flight is loosely based off the Terran Viking unit's twin battle/flying modes. And her Defensive Matrix is named after the Terran Science Vessel similarly named ability, while acting like the Terran Raven's Point Defense Drone. Ironically, Eve played Protoss.
Did blizzard specify when beta invites were sent? Is it a daily thing or once a week waves?

That one where Mei freezes herself to prevent damage is like literally ice block from WoW, an ability frost mages could get. The dwarf whose name I'm not going to try typing on my phone literally says molten core but I guess that's less subtle and cool than a lot of the other referencial abilities.
Did blizzard specify when beta invites were sent? Is it a daily thing or once a week waves?
from what I can tell, It's whenever they feel like more need to be sent out. They tweet out once all the new wave is sent.
anyone from the usa want to play overwatch beta with me? the person who gave me it won't ever play it with me :(
I'd love to but I don't have beta access.
anyone from the usa want to play overwatch beta with me? the person who gave me it won't ever play it with me :(
who the hell 'gave' you overwatch if not blizzard??
who the hell 'gave' you overwatch if not blizzard??
Obviously he's a plant from Blizzard to see who's desperate enough for a beta pass.
i'll whore myself out for a week
While TF2 is far from dead, it has definitely lost its appeal over the last few years imo.
Overwatch is honestly just here to usher TF2 into its retirement home He's still alive but he's just kinda senile and rattles on about tiered crates and lackluster weapon skins now

People who want to customize their loadouts and have free access to the game will play TF2. People who want a wide variety of pre-determined loadouts and are willing to put down money upfront will play Overwatch. They're not similar enough to "overshadow" each other because they both have features that the other game doesn't have.

At the same time I feel like there's a decent sect of people that are going to migrate from TF2 And I'm still convinced it's a funny goddamned metaphor
Holy shit this looks AWESOME. I can see so many people doing insane shit with Hanzo and his ricochet arrows.
Holy shit this looks AWESOME. I can see so many people doing insane shit with Hanzo and his ricochet arrows.
So far, A majority of people I see just use it as a free-instakill to most classes that have below 250 hp. The most unique instance i've seen someone use it was to escape from a pursuer by firing the ricochet arrow down by Hanzo's own feet so that the doorway would be covered by a repeatedly pin-balling ric. arrow Too bad the attempt failed miserably
does a fully charged hanzo arrow ricochet?
does a fully charged hanzo arrow ricochet?
No, just his scatter arrow ability.
One thing Overwatch has over TF2: the full game will be on consoles. Not the 2007 version like TF2 has, just the full on game.
