Same goes to Battlefront 3.
Look how empty that game is... but It will be great with DLC's!
... pathetic.

Except Battlefront is already out and Blizzard is working on unlocks and other rewards at this moment?
Pretty sure I heard them talk about releasing the game with some kind of reward system.
They are also looking for new game modes to add and oh, the game is not worth 60 bucks but 40.

Reward for buying their game. Right.....
Reward for buying their game. Right.....
You are complaining that beta version of a game does not have everything it might have on release.
When it's clearly not the final version and they keep adding more stuff as the beta goes along. They just added 3 new heroes and a new map for christ sake, complain about it once you know what you will get in the release version.
soldier 76 is so frustrating to play against, just pops his ult walks around a corner aiming at nothing, triple kill
There's a massive audio cue for his ult. Find cover.
I mean I guess that's what I'd do, I've never and won't ever play this thing.

It's in fucking beta + i wasn't even talking about DLC or microtransactions since it will be 40$. I'm talking about extra maps and gamemodes since payload and attack defend seem really placeholder for some reason and some other gamemodes would, I feel compliment the game better in a way.

its easier to say than in practice, somtimes it unavoidable unless you play a character like tracer who can blink about
7 months is long time to wait when you've already waited a year. I don't understand why people don't understand why others are unhappy with how the beta is being handled, and end up making stupid comments like yours. It seems pretty obvious to me why people are unhappy.
"nye nye nye stupid comment like yours"
Why in the fuck are you even supposed to get a beta invite? It's up for them to decide who gets what, and if it's random, well just eat shit and wait patiently for the next wave, quit being salty. Such entitlement over nothing, wow. It's not like you're not gonna download and try out the game once you get your invite, prove me wrong.
Either I suck or there's some serious balance issues going on.

Don't scream at me man.
I just don't trust any company.
EA also did BETA thingy with BattleFront 3, but they didn't change SHIT!

Battlefront's beta was month away from the release. From a developer that did several glorified multiplayer demos already.
Overwatch's beta started 8 months before it's rough release date and is done by Blizzard.
Early beta of Heroes of the Storm for example, was quite different from the game on release.

I get not buying into the hype but coverop is screaming bloody murder before someone even pulled out a weapon.
Wait until we know what's in the game at release before you dismiss it as having not enough to keep people in.

What character are you playing as?

I'm not bitter though, not sure why you would make such a baseless assumption. I'm already in the beta you see. But that aside, I can empathize with those who aren't, unlike you apparently.
Also you'll probably want to reconsider yourself. The fact that my calling your comment stupid could illicit such an aggressive overreaction from you makes you look like a little bitch.

Mercy or Soldier 76 for me. Can't even do anything as Mercy because everyone just takes a ton of damage and Soldier 76 seems really week to me.

I can understand being wary of preordering but are you really acting like something EA did is the industry norm?
this game is going to be amazing once they add stuff to it. right now it kinda gets stale
In my case I'm playing devil's advocate when defending Overwatch but...
TF2 back in 2007 also lacked in content on release. There were 6 maps, 9 classes and about 15 weapons in total. Reviewers made the same judgments back then.
In both cases it comes down to how the developers handle upgrading the gameplay throughout the years without breaking it outright. Valve more or less managed (let's just say the good decisions they made were better than the bad ones were bad). Whether Blizzard will is still up in the air.
Looking back at TF2's reviews on release, one reviewer raised a good point - packing the game with Orange Box noticeably helped the review scores. Even if you couldn't care less about TF2, you'd get Orange Box simply because 3 new Valve games plus Half Life 2 with episode 1, then eventually get around to playing TF2 out of curiosity and discover it exceeded the low expectations. And if you were actually hyped for TF2, you'd get it very cheap no matter how you look at it. That's quite the literal opposite from Overwatch - a game advertising itself as the best thing in the universe pricing itself at 40 dollars on it's own.
To expand on this, Rocket League recently pulled off something very similar to kickstart itself.
The opportunity to launch the game as a free download to PlayStation Plus subscribers was, Hagewood says, a straightforward one, even though doing so limit the amount of revenue a game is able to make in those crucial early days. "If you are trying to establish a new brand I believe it is far more important to get mind-share than revenue," he says.
Fair enough, this is a poor-man's strategy. Blizzard can and is actively spending lots of money on marketing and is banking heavily on their fans' loyalty. If anything, they will most likely have their successful launch. Titanfall, the closest scenario, also did, and Respawn had odds stacked against them unlike Blizzard. What comes after the launch is the big question.
It's hard to tell now, but I don't think the game will lack content on release. They have so much time to add new heroes, maps, whatever. It's more about whether it will all work together. Being in charge of things, I would focus religiously on balance and polish all the way up to release. They just need a perfect experience on launch to keep their playerbase intact afterwards.
Of course, seeing how things are in Overwatch right now, this would include such drastic changes as... Practically putting the entire game into the bin and starting over, but that's just me.
Mercy or Soldier 76 for me. Can't even do anything as Mercy because everyone just takes a ton of damage and Soldier 76 seems really week to me.
i think soldier 76 relies on having really good aim when not in ult mode , i definitely agree with mercy, she needs a good team comp to keep her alive and some communication, every time i tried her people were too far behind cover so i couldnt shift fly to them

There are two ways for Overwatch to have micro-transactions, EA (DLCs) way or VALVe (Crates & Store) way.
Yes. I believe EA introduced a new trend for big games.
Stuff like Season Pass / Premium / DLC are THEIR work.
I can't name a game that didn't had DLC/Season Pass announced before game was released.
Personally I hate DLC system and my opinion doesn't matter.
[sp]I may sound salty, because I can't find my inner peace in games anymore. New games are "too simple", while old games were more fun/complex with worse graphics.[/sp]
If Blizzard are gonna make us pay for post-release content, I expect it to come in Expansion Packs like almost every other Blizzard game.
And they won't be dinky little ones like the BF3/4 expansion packs, they'll probably add some pretty significant features to the game outside of the expected bunch of heroes and maps.

What sort of DLC would Blizzard even sell for the game? I see map-packs being below them.
The only micro-transactions we'll most likely get will just be cosmetics, such as skins and emotes.
And sprays.
I just want straight up, skins , profile pics, sprays , emotes.
Is it really not possible to fund a game add some maps with that alone + the initial purchase price? How did games get developed and sold before micro transaction wallet gouges.
If they try and gate content behind expansions/dlc it will slowly kill the playerbase of course it will always have a semi decent playerbase because blizzard, but it will fall below its potential and i dont want to see that happen.

Then you must be living under a rock, only coming out when you hear the words DLC and Season Pass.

It depends on the timing and price point of expansions, if they were to follow the modern EA model of expansion pack were they come out every couple of months over the course of one year and are barely worth the price for the content they add and that content is just more of the same, then you're going to see a lot of fracturing of the playerbase.
But on the other hand, if they make the expansions similar to Blizzards own expansions - i.e. coming out at least a year after the game's release and with the main aim to shake up and revitalise the game with some significant additions and changes, then I think it will be fine.
Of course the ideal is for all future content to be completely free, but I think that's a little naive to hope for.
didnt think i would like junk rat alot, but throwing a mine in someones face and exploding it is so satisfying, also really great at defending
To be clear - there's no way of getting in the beta right this moment, only to wait for an e-mail, right?
