How do you think Console play is gonna be
The pc version will probably be the best. Did they actually manage to get battlenet to work from ps4 for diablo 3.
i also think there will be a bunch of people complaining about being shot in the back, i find it much easier to do a 180 and fight back with a mouse.
Wall climbing could be tricky, holding a button to climb while aiming.
Im also interested in seeing how they set up the store for skins ect and the cross promotion stuff they usually have, like playing x amount of Overwatch this week gets you wow mount y

About as bad as any console FPS.
So just terrible.

Lucky them :cat:
I really hope Blizzard gets a complete new mode for OW. One of my biggest criticisms that I found through the TB video. A mode that sets OW to a different level than all the other team shooters.
By mode you mean gamemode? What's wrong with CPs and Payload? They're both very elegant.

Yes I meant gamemode. But I also meant that OW needs a "new" gamemode instead of relying on the old gamemodes. Don't get me wrong, CP and Payload are fine. But you expect them to be in every team based shooter, so OW needs at least one complete new gamemode to set itself apart from other competing games. This is something that Total Biscuit already criticized.

It doesn't need a new gamemode. Does dota need new maps? Why bother coming up with gimmicky shit when 99% of the gameplay comes from interacting with other heroes and not pushing a cart or capturing an objective? We all know how dead most of the "different" gamemode playlists are in recent shooter fps games.
The lack of a new gamemode is going to be criticized in the end and a big company like Blizzard should be able to come up with a good gamemode. They should at least try. If it ends up not being played by anyone they can try to improve on it, like they do with Diablo 3 implementations.
They should come up with less intrusive visual effects first.
I would like to see at least one other game mode though. Doesn't have to be anything "new", but I do think the game needs a game mode that doesn't use the attack/defend team setup. Something like King of the Hill, but I can't imagine King of the Hill as it's normally implemented in FPS games working well in Overwatch.
I wonder if there will be more 'classic' fps game modes like ctf or dm
The devs have mentioned that they've already tried CTF and it didn't work too well cause it pulled the focus of the gameplay too far away from the heroes and their abilities.
Everyone just ran Tracer and made a beeline for the flag.
fair enough, but i'd like some non-objective game modes for when i just want to kill time and not care about teamplay
A zones mode might work.

but each game mode is supposed to have an objective??
what's stopping you from killing time and playing for fun in regular game modes? it's not like you have to coordinate anything at all at a pub level on an unranked server

i don't want anyone to rely on me when i'm just killing time.
if i leave in the middle of a payload or control point capture game i could potentially piss people off.
if there was a TDM or some sort of arena mode, me leaving in the middle wouldn't hurt much.

not saying that payload or capture aren't fun, they definitely are. but they're really teamplay oriented modes and having someone disappear isn't cool.

Yeah, something like Drop Zones from Star Wars: Battlefront would be something I'd like to see in Overwatch, plus it'd be pretty easy to work into the maps lore-wise - just have omnic shit falling from the sky or something.
They have the hybrid capture point/payload maps at the moment, but they're all point first then payload to the end, I'd like to see a map that's the opposite.
I'm not familiar with drop zones. I meant that thing where there's say 4 points on the map and you get 1 point a second for having 1 captured, 2 points for 2 and so on. And the first team to like 300 points wins.
Oh so like Conquest or Domination then, maybe if it were an attack/defend variation on that game mode like Gravelpit in TF2, I could see it working. But I don't see the CoD/BF variation working well, too many different points of interest might spread the teams out a little too thin.
Drop Zones is kind of like King of the Hill except after you capture the zone and hold it for the set time, another one then spawns in the map in a different place, first team to three (or four, I don't remember) zones captured wins.
It alleviates the main problem I see a traditional King of the Hill game mode having in Overwatch, having all of the action centralised onto one point is going to lead to a very, very messy fight and just very swingy games seeing that whole team wipes would probably be very easy to pull off.

King of The Hill would work I think. It serves as a more casual gamemode whilst still having some kind of objective.
So I haven't really been following Overwatch much since I didn't get into the beta, so is the game f2p or do you have to buy it?
$40 for base game, $60 for a fancy edition (this version is on ps4 and xbox one), $150 for a collectors edition with a neat statue and more stuff (also ps4/xbox one)
If Overwatch gets 5CP and maybe KOTH I'll be a happy camper.
So uh... When's the next wave of invites? :s:

I don't personally see them adding any more permanent beta testers.
IMO we'll see one or two more weekend mass beta events before the end of the year and then open beta around December/January-ish.

I appreciate your optimism, here's hoping.

I definitely see those being added one way or another later on. KOTH especially is a perfect gamemode for Overwatch, switching between attack and defense as the round progresses.
Depends entirely on how Blizzard approaches it, though. They most likely want it to be something unique.

My only concern with this game so far, everything looks so intense I feel like it's going to take some time to get used to.
Well good luck when torbjorn literally pours shit into his gun 2 inches from his face.
