Overwatch - The world needs heroes, and Blizzard needs a TF2 game!

the only thing i'm worried about with mei is how far she can make an ice wall appear and how quickly.
i think it should be short range deploy and take a moment to cast.
I love reading this thread and you know what?
That's Blizz "balancing" at its finest.
Throwing trash heroes together with OP ones, check out what sticks, nerf what's too powerful.
[sp]Don't give me the esports "counter-comp" excuse, that's some bullshit right now...[/sp]
Things like HP pool, aoe range are numbers that can be changed really easy.
A better balance implementation for Mei would be limiting the freezing abilities to x-y targets, not all in range.
What bores me to death are the lazy signatures/ultimates: "here, free 1 shots for everyone". These totally ignore armor, hp pool enhancement.
Pretty much like the spy backstab in TF2, it's set to a high dmg number (~1500 crit), so it can always kill a target, no matter what, except uber.
I am monitoring the game, but I expect Blizz to haul ass with patch/balancing before the game release, and no fucking purchaseable heroes.
Having actually played a good deal of Mei the last couple of days, I have to disagree. She's not exactly OP.
- You can't kill any of the tanks basically, unless you've got your entire team behind your back and that doesn't usually happen since as soon as you start freezing somebody, they very quickly turn back towards their own team.
- Heroes like Pharah and McCree basically rape you instantly. Pharah turned out to be nigh impossible to kill as Mei, because she could always control how far away you were from her.
- I also play a lot of Tracer and Mei are one of the easiest characters to kill as Tracer. It's too easy just running circles around her while pumping her full of lead.
- Sure, the ice wall can seem annoying at times but all it does it delay the inevitable. If I can't get to a healing pack while it's up, I have to use the ice block. And at that time the entire enemy team just surrounds me and I die.
- She makes a lot of noise using the ultimate and it's pretty easy to get out off. It doesn't do much damage AT ALL, although it does freeze everyone. It's more like D.Va's ulti, the second you use it the entire enemy team falls back to figure out where it went and ends up outside it. That does push everyone back though, which is a good thing all by itself.

not being able to kill tanks is not a criticism - there are very few heroes that can 1v1 beat a tank because they have enormous hp pools, however mei completely fucks tanks up because they tend to be slow already meaning that the freeze is nearly unavoidable (fun fact you can freeze reinhart during his charge, stopping him immediately and saving his charge target)
pharah wrecks most characters that are short range, but unlike junkrat and roadhog, mei can actually fight back because her right click does hella damage. I'll grant that mccree does better than most, but right now mcree beats most people at close range because of flashbang right click.
ice wall delaying is the most useful part. Locking off areas is ridiculously strong, blocking off the entire team
every ultimate in the game makes a lot of noise, that's what they do.
The difference is that mei's happens about 1 second after the noise and has colossal range - if she is with her team then to freeze is to die
to beat mei as tracer requires the mei to be braindead - she doesn't have to aim and she has 250hp. Tracer can't kill her fast enough before ice block, and you'll freeze before that - and because you have 150hp you die.

Basically: The game's underlying design is crap and Blizzard will never do anything about it because they only ever balance the numbers game, not the way the actual mechanics work. This is unfortunate especially in the case of this game which needs the other approach like salt.

Could you stick with one argument per post
Soo good :)
let me tell you why that is wrong.
dva literally makes torbjörn obsolete. she can just self-destruct his turret at any time and he can't do anything about it. the reason why this is important is because torbjörn is at his strongest when he can leisurely camp the same spot with the same turret. if he has a level 3 turret, that means he's giving out armor packs to his allies regularly. if you keep blowing up his turret, he has to spend his metal rebuilding it before he can go back to handing out armor packs. also dva's ult is really good for keeping the enemy off the point for a short period of time, since the explosion radius on it is so ridiculous and your teammates dont take damage from it. also, dva's defense matrix can block ults. i've had my black hole as zarya completely obsoleted because the enemy dva activated it just as i threw it out. i would assume it works on tracer's grenade too.
that is anything but useless. if anything, the least effective tank in the game would probably be roadhog and thats only because he's the least tank-like hero. since roadhog relies so heavily on getting 1v1 kills as opposed to using crowd control or support-like moves, things that every other tank have, in order to directly benefit his team
i do agree mei is stupid though
i really disagree
if torbjorn needs an ult to deal with his turret, he's in an amazing place because he's forcing someone to play dva and use her ult on just a turret - sure it means he has to keep rebuilding it, but that's the case anyway because it's rare that turrets stay alive for very long if anyone on the enemy team is on the ball
the defence matrix is alright, i didn't know it could nullify projectile ults which is cool, but at the same time it doesn't last very long and in most other situations reinhart's shield is better (he can shield all of the small shit, whereas blowing defence matrix on small firearms is a waste)
the jetpack is cool for positioning, but it doesn't do much damage and it doesn't matter if she gets into a good position because her main guns are so useless - the fact that she becomes the slowest character in the game when she's firing is the nail in the coffin; anyone you're fighting against can consistently land hits on you because she's so slow when firing. i'd rather she had limited ammo but more damage, than infinite ammo and no damage
roadhog is a potent tank because his heal is effectively a better heavy sandwich meaning that he can soak more damage than his hp suggests and his hook allows him to utterly destroy support heroes like zenyetta and black music stereotype man - sure he's less of a typical tank than reinhart but he fills a niche (the tank that doesn't get obliterated by fast moving damage heroes)
i just don't think she fills a role that doesn't already exist
if you want projectile soak and high hp you play reinhart
if you want some projectile soak and high movement you play winston
if you want more support, you play russian laser woman
if you want damage and hp you play roadhog
i can't think of a niche that she sits in that needs to be sat in - a turret for a single character isn't enough of a reason to play her (and it shows, i haven't seen that many dvas in any of my games, even though she's a new character. anecdotal i know, but that's my experience)
I've checked the twitter, facebook, and their forums, with no answer. Is the game down for maintenance? I haven't been able to log on since at least yesterday.

I've never been able to log on since the beta started.
What a weird bug.
[sp]Lizard pls give me beta next wave.[/sp]

So good she connected 5 just for kicks.

Everyone makes noise over Tracer and Widowmaker but I'm all about that Mercy. She has an awesome design, I think.

Yeah Mercy's really cute. Probably my favorite female design in the game aside from D.va.

Touché my good Sir. I didn't realise Symmetra had that sci-fi glove thingy on one of her hands but not the other.

Funny because i do see quite a bunch of Mercy praise. Still prefer Pharah and Zarya.

Woops, I actually thought it was one of Zenyattas additional hands. Or aren't all those hands in his ult not "real"?
Someone was apparently rating all his games as negative experiences and now he gets hour long queues as a result since the matchmaking tries to avoid matching you with people you find negative.
Says a lot about the number of people actually in the beta, even though we all already knew it.

i like this system, if you don't have fun playing overwatch maybe you shouldn't play it.
