It reminds me so much of Destiny it's not funny
It reminds me so much of Destiny it's not funny
I'd love to hear what you mean by this since its pretty vague. I've put 200+ hours into Destiny (enjoyed it quite a bit) and I can understand negativity towards it, but the only similarities I can see between the two are that they involve shooting (not even the same perspective) and have RPG elements. Besides that, I feel The Division is doing a bunch of things that I had hoped Destiny would have done (and hopefully will do). Maybe you're just being facetious/cynical but even if The Division ends up being a flop, here are things its already doing different or better than Destiny: - A more unified open world I'd love to explore the wrecked Earth in Destiny, or full ruins of Mars, instead we got a few segmented areas across a few planets. That MMO feeling of exploration just isn't in Destiny, but from everything I've seen of Division it at least has a bit of that. A 1:1 scale of Manhattan, even with minimal interiors, would definitely allow for more exploring (or for the cynical, walking). - Better atmosphere Destiny has a cool art style/design, but I never felt immersed looking at stuff in it. The world feels pretty dead without a weather cycle and better lighting. Meanwhile, in The Division Xbox One Alpha [IMG_THUMB]https://i.gyazo.com/b9813289e2ef6e60ed21b3b27836f3b6.jpg[/IMG_THUMB][IMG_THUMB]https://i.gyazo.com/7fcdf459db3c1af34b25bf3d512e8c90.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] [IMG_THUMB]https://i.gyazo.com/c71a10db7b0312d202d6c0c81e53055e.jpg[/IMG_THUMB][IMG_THUMB]https://i.gyazo.com/b3f6ec2c9138803237acf900e51a0783.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] It will probably (hopefully) look better maxed out on PC too. - Better RPG-like progression On a basic level, I feel the same at level 40 as I did at level 10 in Destiny. Because your selection of skills was pretty minimal to your Guardian class and the classes themselves all felt samey, there wasn't really much choice difference between playing the classes. While The Division won't avoid some of the samey feel (only so much difference between players when in the end everyone is shooting guns), there are so many avenues of progression and chances to feel like your choosing for your own playstyle. Things like the home bases, perks, skills, talents, weapon mods, and probably more add tons of RPG elements to choose from in comparison. - OUTFITS This one is kind of small, but Destiny ties your looks to your armor. This is really dumb since many people in the end game begin looking the same (assuming they even get the gear dropped), so when The Division separates your character's appearance items from your armor items...its nice. - Dark Zone Destiny doesn't really have any specialized areas to check out while exploring. Everywhere feels the same (the segmented areas across a few planets) and all the interesting content is locked behind missions or strikes or raids. But in The Division there's a whole set of areas with harder content, better gear, and possible-but-not-mandatory PVP. (I don't usually like most Open World PVP kind of games/areas, but they actually provide incentives to not shoot people which changes things up drastically. No doubt there will be people shooting each other on sight, but there's far more risk to it now since your positions gets lit up on the hud of everyone in the area.) I'd try to bring up more stuff, but obviously I can't talk about stuff like how the story or overall presentation will be when the game isn't even out yet. So yeah, I can't see much of the similarities that makes them so alike that its "not funny." Though with that said, I enjoyed Destiny even before it got patched up, so I probably just don't have much negativity to associate with it besides the lack of decent story and bad RNG.

It just reminds me purely of Destiny but in Third Person. I know it's got far more than Destiny offers and it beats out Destiny easily

It has some similarities to Destiny but it feels like a more realized and different beast from all the footage they've allowed to be released [editline]27th January 2016[/editline]
fuck your raffle machine do-hickey. I hope they're not stressing the RPG-stuff too much. It just doesn't really work for me if a certain glove gives you +5 attack when in the end you're all shooting bullets.
I hope they're not stressing the RPG-stuff too much. It just doesn't really work for me if a certain glove gives you +5 attack when in the end you're all shooting bullets.
Pretty RPGish with all the gear giving you a defensive bonus, some specifics (more inventory space with bags and so on) and then there are 3 stats that were basically upping your health, damage or skill power. So yeah you could find gloves that give you attack.
I hope they're not stressing the RPG-stuff too much. It just doesn't really work for me if a certain glove gives you +5 attack when in the end you're all shooting bullets.
Bullets play a big part but it's the small buffs and myriad of abilities from the rpg elements and the extent you can mix and match + personalize your build. that's gonna really change up the experience But it is gonna be that extent of RPG where that one glove could give you an edge over someone else, I don't wanna beat around the bush. Doesn't mean an enemy won't have the counter equipped pants + abilities though
Anyone knows how much content will be available in the beta?
Anyone knows how much content will be available in the beta?
Same as the alpha. Theres tiny little additions but aside from that.
Same as the alpha. Theres tiny little additions but aside from that.
Care to elaborate on what was in the alpha?
some useful Dark Zone info; it's gonna be fun to ambush players
See I'd like to try and track some people down, see how long I can follow them in the streets until I get noticed, but I don't even know if your presence is automatically marked, or if you need to be tagged to appear on the radar etc. Please I'd like some info around that. EDIT: SUMMARY OF THE ANSWERS BELOW -You DO NOT show up on a player's minimap unless you shoot an unsilenced weapon, or get marked by pulse -You CAN go around cover to cover stalking people, your footsteps/mic seem to be the only factor that can betray you -There is a mod for the Pulse, called the Scrambler, that will prevent people from pulse-marking you -Silenced weapons will prevent your shots from appearing on the minimap For the people who don't understand proximity chat and how party chat works on console: A party chat is a way for you and your friends to not be heard in game whilst talking. BUT, you still hear everything in game (game audio + party chat), this includes people in proximity chat. So if you want to freak people out with proximity chat when hidden in the shadows, you can, anyone will hear you if they're in range, even people in their own party chat. When being prioritized to game audio, your microphone is technically part of the game audio, so any player can hear it just like the weapons, the footsteps or any other sound from the game.
[editline]27th January 2016[/editline] and why the hell not, I'll start the raffle for the final drawing tomorrow now.
Care to elaborate on what was in the alpha?
Some PVEish mini mission things. Here and there. You can level from like 5-8 (Seems to cap when you try to get close to 9) Hospital mission. Base of Operations setup stuff. Alpha map (Ignore the red circle) Darkzone leveling seems to go up to 12 (Again when you get close to 13 it doesnt let you go into level 13) Darkzone AI Locations : The Gas Station Underground Garage Big Ass Store Some Place with 2 huge ass flamethrower guys ( Some place near some (Half frozen?) building Checkpoint place with a ton of enemies. Gear is kinda lackluster If you want the best gear shop at the Darkzone checkpoints. Oh and the first time you visit SOME places and open some chests you seem to get 1000 DZ points good places to farm. The safezone has a 3080 DZ gun (Seen in my screenshot that orange gun) That landmark above is also the big ass store i was talking about above. Don't go there straight away them enemies are tough. Also, Darkzone levels seem to be phased. So if your level 12 you can't be in a phase with a level 8. Hope this helps .
Hard to tell from your post, but is the full map opened up or just a portion of it?
beta starts tomorrow, right?
beta starts tomorrow, right?
On Xbone, yeah. Friday for PS4 and PC.
Hey guys. I got a set of keys as well to handout. Going to copy Kite's post for the most part, except mine are global keys and can be used on all platforms. RATE THIS POST OPTIMISTIC TO BE ENTERED FOR A KEY RATE THIS POST OPTIMISTIC TO BE ENTERED FOR A KEY I have 4 to give out. (or more later depending on how many I have left after friends/family) Since these are global keys and can be used on XB1 and the XB1 starts tomorrow i'll do the drawing tomorrow morning, lets say 8:30AM? EST. If none of you guys are planning on playing on the XB1 I can do the drawing later to get more additions.
I heard the beta has the full game's map, but you can't level up past a certain point?
Come to think of it, I may have to omit any one who entered on Kite's post so we don't give out multiple keys to one person. How do you guys feel about that?
I heard the beta has the full game's map, but you can't level up past a certain point?
The level cap is 8, but the full map isn't available; in the known bugs thread they said that the GPS system might take you to areas "not available" in the beta build.
I heard the beta has the full game's map, but you can't level up past a certain point?
If you look at the alpha map them redlines are the areas you cant pass anything inside them you can go in. The beta has a tiny bit more unlocked (Just to unlock another darkzone entrance)

The beta has a tiny bit more unlocked (Just to unlock another darkzone entrance)
based on that and the alpha map you posted; I'd say like 1/4 of the map is shown in the beta? if those top gray lines are the absolute border of the game map for the full game. Maybe there's more to the left and down below, who knows.
Damn guys, super generous of you to do all these giveaways. Thanks!

I've been trying to glitch out of the map for days :v: I managed to freeze the count timer it gives you using cheat engine :v: but the timer seems to be serverside.
