I'm a friendless loser so this is my only option, and it can be tricky. I'm by no means a bad player but I can't exactly even attempt to take on a full group of 4 that have gone rogue, which is the huge downside to being solo, but for the most part I seem to get around and extract easily enough. Only once has someone dropped a grenade on me during extraction, and I was able to hightail it out of there without too much trouble. None of the weapons seem to take you down swiftly enough or everyone I've come across just has poor aim.
Really? I've been playing solo and had a couple of incursions into the Dark Zone and I've had very little trouble. For the most part it seems the rogue parties have been low leveled and I did take on one three-man-party alone and actually won against my expectations. Other than that there have been only a few rogue assholes shooting me up and almost every time me and multiple others have just kinda banded together, reviving each other and shit and gotten rid of them.
On top of that all only once in my 5 Extractions has anyone tried to kill anyone and they didn't get shit done because like 7 people just turned around and shot him in the face. I kinda dislike how many agents there are, though. I saw a gathering of almost 20 agents at one point.
There's literally a pop-up saying "Thanks for playing the BETA" after you're done with the only story mission which tells you that that's all there was for the story, so yes, sadly.
wait what
so it's just randomgen missions and pvp after that? there's no characters?
Runs really well with DSR/VSR, would highly recommend it over AA.
Otherwise I dunno if this beta did anything for me. I prefer PvE over PvP, and even on the hardest difficulty my group was able to push through the Madison Square Garden mission with no troubles.
How is it not worth it? It's a huge open world with a bunch of shit to do and a whole different PvP element.
The world they made is beautiful, I agree. Probably the best looking one out there imo, but the actual gameplay got pretty stale after a while. There really needs to be more enemies (and enemy variety) in the game, as more than half the time you're trying to find people. Ofcourse, this is a beta, so we'll have to see how varied the game is on release. But if it's the same old without any changes to the enemy places and such then I don't think I'll find myself buying the game.

For the beta, yeah, there's only the one.

It took a lot of people to take them down, and they were the ones who dropped a grenade on me when extracting so I wasn't going to go up against them. I haven't had any other instances of direct attacks, so I can't speak on that but you're probably right. Whenever a lone wolf decides to go rogue they get gang banged almost immediately by 20 people who come out of the woodwork.
hezzy how are you meleeing? I couldn't find a keybind for it
It was tab and mouse 3 for me.
So, I gave the beta try now that the steam issue was fixed and I have some questions here.
Does anyone else have terrible framerate issues even though their computers are more than capable to run this game and am I the only one that reached the mission area for "Establish a base of operations" and got stuck since no enemies spawned ever and the door to the base of operations was closed and uninteractable?
I ran around the entire mission area trying to figure out if I am missing some sort of a trigger and even tried leaving the mission area countless times and returning there, nothing happened. only civilians were around there walking.

That's one thing that kind of annoys me, when people go rogue in a group it seems like people don't want to fight them compared to when hunting a lone player. One time a group of 3 killed me to steal my loot and I spent the next three lives killing all of them alone, but only when one was left did the rest of the map show up to take him out. Guess if I want a proper rogue hunting group I should just make one.
I find it kinda bullshit that the most powerful double barreled shotgun in the game cant kill someone in 2 shots at point blank.
Oh, top tip, if you become rouge next to the safehouse, if you close the game and open it back up again, and then spawn yourself in the safehouse, you will still be rogue and you can wait out the timer in there for some dark zone points.
I can't seem to get in the same instance as my friend in the dark zone even though we're both level 8. She gets placed in DZ01 and 8-8 but I get placed in 1-7.
I'm down for some division agent hunting in the dark zone and getting all loot possible :v:
wonder if we could get two groups of 4 to coordinate somehow
Yeah, from my experiences with the beta I would definitely not recommend the game for a whopping 60€ price. It seems like you can get really bored with the game after a while and if you are not looking for the PvP part of the game (like me) then the content feels even more limited.
I'm gonna wait for the release and perhaps buy it from one of the game stores here which sells it for 42€. Anything over 50 is way too much to be honest.
It feels a lot like watch dogs, gunplay wise.
I'm 50/50 on the dark zone, i fucking hate that you lose xp/darkzone credits if you repeatedly get ganked.

I'd also be down for this, would be nice to play with people from the community again for a change.
Just throwing this out there but I have a TS3 server if anyone would be interested, and may be able to bring a friend along.
Game's fun and i'm probably going to end up getting it, but does the Beta run like crap on PC for anyone else? I'm running on a R9 390 and I5 4590 and can hardly hit 60 frames, it's usually 45 frames or lower outdoors. Ended up playing with everything set to the lowest but it's still hitting bad frames.

If you haven't already, restart your pc. I had the same problem.
And update your drivers if you haven't already.
Amazon no longer says anything about beta keys. Is there absolutely no way to get in on preorders now?
I'm a bit underwhelmed by the dark zone. I went in with another person, we ran around a bit, found almost no meaningful loot around, then did an extraction and only then got some kind-of okay loot from the enemies we fought while waiting for the extraction and in the end only really got a decent holster out of it. We found some of those locked boxes but no keys anywhere.
I was that person. haha
It was really quiet for the first 20 minutes, though we didn't stray far from the checkpoint (more like went around in circles)
I'd say the best loot was from activating an extraction and killing the enemies that turned up to try and stop us. One solo randomer did keep on taking pot shots at us so we downed him, didn't go rogue so I guess he was rogue himself. We did fall prey to some nefarious extraction zone campers though, won't make the mistake of all rushing up to extract our loot at the same time again
Found quite a few interesting looking crates but I couldn't interact with any of them and simkas said we needed a key or something, not sure what that was about. All in all there might not be that much loots around, but when you do find some it is way more likely to be good. And there really were some intense moments
I'm up for a four man FP deathsquad tomorrow. I only saw maybe maximum 3 guys strolling around, mostly solos, so if we get four we could be unstoppable to most
im up for that FP Deathsquad
So is it me or the whole game feels...weak?, specially on dark zones all i could do was run arround, i saw some crates but when i got near them i couldnt do anything, so all i did was run arround, kill NPCS and extract some normal-tier loot that wasnt anything amazing.. Besides that i really liked the whole safe house re-building mechanic but the essential core of the game feels pretty weak, basically go to X point kill bad guys, repeat, If the gunplay wasnt so floaty or the controls werent so damm annoying i could be fine with that but its really rough..

The side missions have some more variety, though a lot of it is still shooting guys in an area or waiting in an area and shooting respawning enemies, but that's just kind of all RPGs, there isn't really much more you can do with an open world shooter.
Did the story stuff and cleared the map of side missions and encounters. It's kinda boring to be honest. The combat just is not deep whatsoever. I hit E to tag enemies and I can hit Q to heal myself or my buddy. Then I just shoot assault rifles at guys who sit behind cover and pop up like targets and Watch_Dogs tier gunplay. The hard missoin was a little interesting and supposedly raids are coming so that might be cool but I can't see myself playing this primarily for the PVE, especially for $60 + season pass and the fact that no one I played with likes it enough to buy.
I guess I will try Dark Zones later. From what I hear thats going to be the meat of the endgame but I'm wary about going in as a solo player.
Yeah, it's story and gameplay for me. Obviously we don't get to see the starting mission and the context of what happened, but the cutscene seemed pretty nice. However the entire rest of the time I didn't really care that I saved that doctor. Makes me wonder if there'll be more personal companions down the line, that get more involved with you and the story, because I didn't end up really caring about anyone
With combat it's exactly what Raidyr said, you do get some disparity between melee and gun enemies but the melee enemies are so stupid, even on hard, that they most of the time make a beeline directly towards you rather than flank or use cover. They do, but not enough, especially for someone trying to rush down people using guns with a god damn baseball bat
There were some interesting enemies, like the guys with the tanks on their back you could shoot, and every now and then you'd detonate an enemy's explosives or cause them to drop their grenades and that was satisfying. It just feels like killing predominantly human enemies would start to become boring

The game is fucking beautiful though, it has that going for it
I can't believe the amount of props packed into some areas of the map, like under staircases and in places you wouldn't go if you were heading straight for the objective
For the record, most of the people i met in dark zones were super friendly, but yeah as soon as you go rogue prepare to get gang destroyed by pretty much everyone in the zone.. Hell at one point we were a group of like 8 persons just clearing out the dark zone
It depends on the missions it will have. Really seems that if you have done those build your base a bit and grabs some stats along the way there is not much left (I do have a deep hatred for multiplayer in almost all games). Well besides shooting random people to level up, shooting dogs, rats and birds because why not and giving every random person on the street some water and med packs.
In the beta, yeah, full game is going to have a whole set of story missions and also a map that's like 5 times the size of what's in the beta.
Playing darkzone solo is hell, had full lots of loot 3 times and lost all my loot 3 times.
Final time that really annoyed me tho was that I was camping the extract point to ship of some loot and two guys come along and notice me camping and start shooting, which is fair enough. They must have been shit shots tho because they missed me. I fire back and actually hit them, I get agent gone rouge instead of them.
Kinda annoying.
So I need mans to play with, Ubi name: Megaxron.
Fucking great.
Just had a guy and his group come after me, and one of them shoots through a solid concrete wall and kills me.
How.
The DZ is pretty laggy. Saw a dude jump down into a stairwell, me and my group wreck his shit and he clips all the way back up the stairs at a fast pace. Was really weird.
How do you level up your filter level?
Not sure if you can do it in the beta, but I think it's tied to either the Base or the level of your mask.
wait what

It's a beta, not the full game. Basically only a demo.
hezzy how are you meleeing? I couldn't find a keybind for it
Tab / Mouse 3. Same key as "zoom"
For the record, most of the people i met in dark zones were super friendly, but yeah as soon as you go rogue prepare to get gang destroyed by pretty much everyone in the zone.. Hell at one point we were a group of like 8 persons just clearing out the dark zone
One of the groups went round killing everyone they saw and very soon they had a manhunt on their hands. We had them holed up inside of a building and it felt like the entire Dark Zone was there trying to kill them. Our group was there, plus maybe 2 or 3 other full groups. They didn't last long.
