War never changes. The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth. Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory. Hitler shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower. But war never changes. In the 21st century, war was still waged over the resources that could be acquired. Only this time, the spoils of war were also its weapons: Petroleum and Uranium. For these resources, China would invade Alaska, the US would annex Canada, and the European Commonwealth would dissolve into quarreling, bickering nation-states, bent on controlling the last remaining resources on Earth. In 2077, the storm of world war had come again. In two brief hours, most of the planet was reduced to cinders. And from the ashes of nuclear devastation, a new civilization would struggle to arise.
[t]https://www.oldpcgaming.net/wp-content/gallery/fallout-3/Snap67_1.jpg[/t][t]http://newfallout.com/images/fallout-1/play-fallout-1-on-windows-7.png[/t][t]http://www.nma-fallout.com/attachments/fallout-1-screenshot31-jpg.1002/[/t][t]https://nofanboisallowed.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/gfall11.png[/t] Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game, also referred to as simply Fallout, developed by Interplay and its division, Dragonplay, and self-published on September 30, 1997, is the first game in the Fallout series. The game was initially intended to use Steve Jackson Games' GURPS system, but when Interplay made the decision to drop GURPS on February 12, 1997, it created its own system, SPECIAL. Fallout is seen as the "spiritual successor" to Interplay's classic 1987 CRPG Wasteland. In the aftermath of the Great War, the surface world burned. Underneath, hidden deep underground in Vault 13, survivors live a sheltered and comfortable life, away from the radiation and the perils of the wastes. In 2161, the vault's water chip fails, and needs a replacement. You are selected to exit the vault and find a new water chip on the surface. Released on September the 30th, 1998, it was officially developed by Black Isle Studios, which by that point had become a full-fledged design outfit. Fallout 2 is considered one of Black Isle Studios' best RPGs by most critics, and is generally well respected in the RPG community. Eighty years after saving Vault 13, the Vault Dweller wandered the wastes and founded the village of Arroyo, where a secluded tribe lives in simplicity and peace. As an unforgiving drought hits the village and threatens to starve its people, the Chosen One is sent to the wastes to find a Garden of Eden Creation Kit and save his people. Instead, Fallout Tactics focuses on squad-based combat and introduces near real-time combat, called "continuous turn-based" by the developers, as well as multiplayer mode, to the Fallout series. The game takes place in the American Midwest rather than the West Coast, where the previous Fallout titles took place. Because of inconsistencies with all the previous Fallout games, Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel is not part of the official Fallout canon except for its pivotal events. When the game starts, the Brotherhood is trying to claim territory surrounding Chicago. By offering protection to villages of tribals the Brotherhood is able to draft it's recruits from among the tribals. At the beginning of the game, the player character is an Initiate, a new recruit to the Brotherhood, tasked to lead a squad of soldiers made up of the available troops. As the campaign against the raiders succeeds into dispersing them into the wasteland, the player character is accepted fully into the Brotherhood and learns the eventual goal of the Brotherhood: A campaign west across the Great Plains towards the Rocky Mountains in search of Vault Zero, the one-time nucleus and command center of the pre-war vault network, where the most senior government, scientific and themilitary leaders were housed and the highest technology available was maintained. It is the third installment in the Fallout series and the first installment in the series to show the East Coast of the United States, with a story mostly disjointed from the two previous installments. It was released on October 28, 2008 in North America, on October 31, 2008 in Europe and on December 4, 2008 in Japan. Two hundred years after the great war, life in Vault 101 persists, its people few in numbers but sheltered from the perils of the wastes. Your father, the Vault's resident doctor, raised you alone to a comfortable, if simple life. In 2277, your father leaves the Vault for unknown reasons and you find yourself following in his footsteps. Forced out of the vault, you must find your Father in the Capital Wastelands. While technically a sequel to Fallout 3, New Vegas goes back to the West Coast and instead follows up on the events of Fallout 1 and 2. It was developed by a few of the employees who worked on previous Fallout games at Black Isle Studios, along with a larger number of new employees. It is set in the Mojave Desert. The year is 2281. In the middle of the Mojave Desert lies an oasis of vice and neon lights - New Vegas, the heart of the desert, ruled by the mysterious Mister House. Gamblers come to test their luck and NCR troops come to forget about the ever lasting threat of Caesar's Legion. You are the Courier, and you were tasked with delivering a platinum chip to Mister House. But you never made it - the lights of the strip were but a vague tint in the horizon when a man in a checkered suit ambushed you, stole your package, and shot you in the head, leaving you in a shallow grave. You awake eight days later, with a hole in your head and a score to settle. Wasteland Imports: Incredible item overhaul. There are other item overhauls, but this is the best one. Not just in sheer number of stuff added, but also the attention to detail. Here's an unfinished list of the stuff they've added/changed. Place Everywhere: Requires F4SE. If you have any interest in settlement building at all, get this. It removes the restrictions on item placement in build mode, and gives you other tools for placement/rotation/snapping. You can select parts of the face from a list, all the lists are expanded in size, and you can save/load face presets. A small part of the game, but a big QoL improvement. Live Dismemberment: I'm hesitant to call this mod "essential", but I wouldn't play without it. It makes crippling limbs much more visceral and satisfying. I've been using the POSTAL setting, and it's great! I prefer this over the wacky explosions of Bloody Mess. If you want it to feel more realistic, you can use this mod by Hoosteen, to set which weapons can dismember. Much better.
I'll keep watch of the thread but if there is anything you want added to it feel free to PM me. Also was super tempting to use the blue duct tape banner but for traditions sake I kept this one.
Whoever asked about making Fallout 4 run at 60fps on high, what is the specs of your system?
Whoever asked about making Fallout 4 run at 60fps on high, what is the specs of your system?
I've since changed harddrive. Planning to updgrade soon.
I used to have the same problem, I would have to run it on minimum settings, 8GB of ram may not be enough. Just do the tried and true method of throwing hardware at a software problem. I recommend more Ram and a better Graphics card, I also recommend if putting the game on the SSD if you didn't. [editline]11th October 2017[/editline] Just for reference, my current computer has 16gb of ram and a GTX 1080, I have the slightly higher model Processor and a 1 tb SSD and I can run Fallout 4 on ultra settings, but far harbor has frame drops in some areas.
Mmm, that's one way to keep the new thread smell lingering longer. So what are some good mods for spicing up a game in progress? I played the game to death on PS4 before getting the PC version, and am only now, almost a year later, playing through most of the vanilla quests for the first time on PC. I've got some modded guns and a modded companion, but I feel like I need something else added in to add a little pizazz. Any thoughts?

Is it safe to delete all this Creation Club shit that was downloaded with one of the recent updates to Fallout 4? I know it doesn't take up that much space, but I don't really see any point in keeping files to a bunch of mods that I won't ever buy.
I like the concept behind the LAER but I've never been able to use the weapon given how fucking ridiculous it looks. Or you could go the extra mile and implement the content yourself. I'm sure plenty of people have uploaded files for that already, some of which even use the assets better than the official files.

Anyone tried the Horizon mod?
I'm doing a playthrough of it right now. It's pretty damn fun, makes the gameplay so much more intricate and satisfying, and it's so much easier to ignore the story too.

How is the gunplay as well? I want muh realistic ballistics in FO4, no raiders taking several headshots to kill. Also thinking of combining it with Sim Settlements, looks really neat.

Dinky .38 pistols and such will still take a bunch of shots to kill people but a well placed shot from a non-shit gun will put most raiders down instantly. I'm really liking all the content he has added. New scrap materials and junk, new weapons, workbenches, etc. I love variety and this mod has been pretty great at adding it. I play with a bunch of other mods too, though. The Wild Wasteland, cut weapon mods + the one that makes weapon drops have more diverse mods, etc etc. It looks like there's a decent amount of mods that slot in well with Horizon as long as you're adding, not editing [editline]11th October 2017[/editline] There was just an update a few days ago too that added a bunch more stuff.
Nice, what's your favourite thing about it so far? How is the gunplay as well? I want muh realistic ballistics in FO4, no raiders taking several headshots to kill. Also thinking of combining it with Sim Settlements, looks really neat.
The ballistics remain largely vanilla, but the damage is very reasonable (headshots are almost always reliable 1-3 shot kills on humanoids). There was a user compatibility patch for Weapons of Fate, but I'm fairly sure it's outdated by now. As for SimSettlements, grab it and the official compatibility patch, Horizon places a big emphasis on settlement management, and SS makes it much more enjoyable. My favorite thing about Horizon is probably the looting/crafting changes. Loot is reasonably scarce, the most powerful gear is crafted, and there are multiple ways to go about that too. For example, you want to craft 10mm ammo. You need materials (which you get from random drops or by disassembling other ammo) and perks (rank 1 of gun nut plus 2 magazine perks). If you don't have/don't want to invest into those, you can use materials + some bottlecaps to 'commission' it. Low tier ammo and gear only requires bottlecaps while high tier also has trading/local leader requirements instead of gun related ones. And this system works for pretty much any settlement and crafting related component.
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/27216/? The extended dialogue interface Looks neat.
In the vanilla game, player dialogue requires exactly four response options - the game would not accept any more, nor any less. This system also shoehorned most dialogue into one of four types: Yes, No, Neutral and Question. As you might imagine, dialogue doesn't always fall neatly into these categories! The Extended Dialogue Interface (XDI) is a framework that removes the hardcoded 4-option limit on dialogue and adds engine support for any number of player dialogue options. Mods can now create new dialogue experiences that emphasize player choice and have dialogue options that truly reflect their intent. XDI does not modify vanilla dialogue on its own but will display full-text for vanilla dialogue choices. Interestingly, in several vanilla scenes, Bethesda themselves have additional dialogue options recorded! In many cases, these are not wired up correctly for XDI (no associated responses, etc.) so they cannot simply be turned on globally. However, it is possible for modders to modify such vanilla dialogue scenes to wire them up correctly and expose additional voiced dialogue lines that are already part of the base game.
Thanks for the info guys, think I'll definitely go for a Horizon/SS combo for a new game, and hopefully can find some other bits that slot in well!
