Was playing tons of RA2 while I was on holiday. Brutal AI is such a bastard. I'm just getting my economy going and my first tech and they rush me with a Flak Track full of Engineers and sell everything. It did put me in the mood for buying C&C3 for PC last night, though (can you believe I used to play it on the 360?)

Not sure if I should be happy... or sad that I'm soon about to know whenever or not this game is going to be awesome, or suck as many predict it to be.

Granted, there is obviously quite a bit of pay to unlock stuff, such as other generals, but gameplay wise, it is exactly what I expected it to be.
Well, I was not disappointed ^_^ Looking forward even more now into further development of this game. They seriously need to invite more people, waiting 20 minutes for 1v1 is no fun :(

I saw an email in my inbox yesterday titled "Command and Conquer Beta" and absolutely flipped the shit out. I opened it up and to paraphrase it said "You have been registered and will be sent a beta code if you are lucky." and my hopes were destroyed so absolutely flipped the shit out. [sp]and cried[/sp]

Imagine how much you would be pissed if you would have found out that that Beta e-mail you received was actually fake and just spam.

Most game NDAs keep you from discussing the game, except in the private boards for testers.

So yeah, not very active. Not sure why are they not sending more people invites, maybe they fear increased chance of leaks.
I'm surprised by the lack of members, considering anyone who owns the ultimate collection got invited.
No, not really. A lot of people in General Forum complain that they have purchased TUC, yet still didn't get invite. I can confirm that as my friend owns TUC as well, yet he is still waiting. And yes, he does check his spam filter. Some people got the idea that TUC gives you Instant Acess like Arma 3 pre-order, while it really is Early Access. A while ago Victory Games dev joined the public chat in game. An interesting guy, clarified many things on the game and shared some C&C [sp]EA offices secrets :D[/sp]. Based from the amount of things he said, they are working really hard on C&C. Music to my ears.
Interesting although it makes alot of sense; It wouldn't be a restricted alpha test if anyone with cash could get instant-acces to it.
So was anyone else really disappointed by RA3?
RA3 had its moments, i wouldn't call it the best RA game ever though.
When I was six-ish my dad's friend would bring his PS1 and a spare TV over and played console link Red Alert: Retaliation. I got to play a bit too, fucking hell that was fun.
I was just disappointed with the lack of depth in gameplay. It didn't really feel like I was building unique, big armies to throw at my enemy. Not to mention the change in art direction made it lose the gritty fun of previous titles. At least some of the cutscenes were worth watching.
The cutscenes and the actors bothered me the most, it was like the devs thought that boobs and ass would make a anticipated sequel to one of the best C&C games better.

Especially the "romance" endings, cringeworthy. But George Takei man.
I couldn't play RA3 more than 2-3 missions without a break, or else I'd get a headache from 30 fps motion sickness. Red Alert 3 was not a great sequel for sure, however it was not a disaster either. It still stayed loyal to good old base building RTS with crazy and funny Soviets. I surprisingly enjoyed AI partners(Co-Op) feature, with constant video transmissions if felt like you are actually playing with someone else on your team in a Single Player campaign. Regardless, Red Alert 2 was a better game in many ways. As for ass and boobs... It's always been that way with Red Alert ^_^

What's-his-name from Battlestar Galactica can't cold read for shit. Nothing against him, it's actually pretty difficult even for big actors, but they could've let him at least go over his lines with the director first. I do agree that they didn't even bother to hide their direction with the female "uniforms." It didn't help most of those girls couldn't act for shit, or do proper accents. I was also a little put off that they went with a blonde bombshell for Tanya instead of the more rugged brunette she used to be. It's a minor gripe, but it made it obvious they cared more about appealing to the sexual fantasies of their fans than sticking to original designs they had.
I'm about to install Red Alert 3, never played it, but got me wondering.. Is there any RTS out there like the good ol' RA2 or Generals? The newer ones are too futuristic for my taste.

SupCom2 is ground warfare kind of like Starcraft, while Sins is more space combat oriented (somewhat like Homeworld 2, which if you haven't played, is fantastic, and has tons of mods available for it).

Exactly how i felt when watching the cutscenes.
Lijitsu that's actually what I loved about Command & Conquer. It's divided into intentionally different themes. -C&C Tiberian Series = A serious futuristic story with little to none humor regarding GDI Government forces battling the terrorist organization of Nod. -C&C Red Alert Series = A not so much serious and more of fantasy arcade story of Soviets constantly trying to take over the world. With much of intentionally added comedy into the game, ass and boobs fit here perfectly. It's 100% your right to complain if they would have tried this in Tiberian series. -C&C Generals Series - RA is the (alternative history) past, Tiberian is the future. Generals stand in the middle. More of modern warfare RTS. So it's a free pick which theme you prefer the most ^_^ That is what I love about C&C, since I love them all. This post reminds me, I should have asked the dev when I had the chance why the hell C&C 4 videos budget was so AWFUL in comparison to C&C 3 -_-
I disagree that there was a lot of comedy added to the Red Alert series. There was scientific absurdity, definitely. I believe there was the same amount of intentional comedy as there was in the Tiberium series. Some jokes here and there, snarky comments from grunts and such, but generally the world took itself seriously and whatever props they used they tried to actually have look both sciencey and real - Yuri's helmet, for example. In 3 they kept the serious attitude but then just dropped the ball completely with props. And actors, but props is something new to focus on. When I first saw that rifle Natasha had I was insulted at how bad it looked. Like it seriously looked like something you would see with a bad cosplay outfit. I understand getting a hold of something like a Barret might be difficult and expensive for just the one scene, but they could've at least tried to make it look like a gun. I include the uniforms in 'props,' since they were definitely used to prop up some of those girls' horrific acting. [editline]10th August 2013[/editline] As for Generals, I'm annoyed at their use of the Command & Conquer name to sell the game, but I enjoyed the game itself just fine.
I disagree with you that Red Alert was not intentionally comedic, but it just shows that every person has his own opinion. I personally see a huge difference of how Red Alert 1-3 world took themselves light and arcadish. Bad acting at the point where it's even hilarious and you get used to it. Badass rock soundtracks that definitely wouldn't fit into a "serious and darkly atmospheric" world of Tiberium Wars (imagine playing RA2 soundtracks in C&C3). Professors always acting like clowns. Some weaponry or their combinations just funny I mean seriously... Samurai warriors on the same Battlefield as soldiers wtih guns and Tanks? xD I also found Tesla Eiffel Tower scene hilarious and genius! Does General Vladimir deserves to be mentioned here too? xD While Tiberium Wars is darkly atmospheric. For instance the prologue with destruction of Philadelphia was shown quite well as a tragic scene of terrorism with some morale feeling involved. You would never see characters with personality of General Vladimir in C&C 3, instead you get these "shady" characters that have a smell of conspiracy behind them. And many other things. But I do agree with you on Natascha point, her rifle was the first thing that itched my OCD really hard the moment I saw it.
