I really need to find my Generals disks again. Those Angry Mob/Autoloader videos only made me miss the games even more.
Ton of questions answered about the F2P C&C

I'd buy campaigns.
I'd also buy skins provided they are obnoxious enough. Finishing off every game using partyhat-clad infantry would be the best :v:
Or why not some super-silly military skins? Soldiers get lots of lasersights, bayonets, scopes etc. To give them a more humorous look.

No Frank Klepacki, no care.
Seriously though, those are all really boring.
C&C's second most defining feature has always been its insane soundtrack.
Generals and Tiberium Wars both have completely forgettable soundtracks that don't stand out at all and this sounds like it'll be the same.
Generals was pretty dull, but I liked CnC3's soundtrack. This, this and this come to mind.
Winner for soundtrack goes to Red Alert: Retaliation though.
Kane's Wrath had this.

I would have to dissagree about the Generals soundtrack. I found the USA themes to be the best.

Remix of a Klepacki song. :v:
And I don't know, I guess just never paid attention to the music in Generals that much.
That just sounds like generic battle music to me, kind of like they're trying to emulate Klepacki's style but missing the mark entirely... it's flavorless.
The GLA had some great music... but it is nothing compared to this...

So, the new C&C is really good. I'm in alpha and there's no NDA.
Which means you can write and make videos about the game.
Feels a lot like SC2 for how buildings are built and it's pretty awesome how everything emerges from the ground and has really cool build animations.
Currently a lot of players suck, there's 8 buildable units per general and there are like 18 generals in game.
Dr. Thrax is back and playable.
You can do CTRL-T to taunt enemy players like in C&C generals/zero hour (best feature).
Some generals have really really lame lines though.
You buy generals with VP victory points or CP command points (real $ or earned-through-play $)
A general like dr. thrax is 8500 CP and playing 1 match a day gives you a daily 500 cp.
Some things are literally broken (some suicide trucks do 0 damage lol).
Team battles suck unless your allies are good.
Some people can't play at all and will ruin the game for you if they're on your team.
Teaming up with friends online for team battles is a 100% winrate strategy.
Team battles are a "premium" feature that I guess you have to pay for later.
Overall pretty good potential.
I wish they went with properly making Generals 2 instead of making a f2p without campain

I think they're gonna make and release campaigns as DLC.
New Command & Conquer is dead
"Your feedback from the alpha trial is clear: We are not making the game you want to play," reads a statement posted to the game's website. "That is why, after much difficult deliberation, we have decided to cease production of this version of the game. Although we deeply respect the great work done by our talented team, ultimately it's about getting you the game you expect and deserve."
The game, simply titled Command & Conquer, was originally announced at the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards as Command & Conquer Generals 2. It was later rebranded as a free-to-play, Frostbite engine-powered real-time strategy game and positioned as a service that would add episodic content, new factions and a single-player campaign.
"We believe that Command & Conquer is a powerful franchise with huge potential and a great history, and we are determined to get the best game made as soon as possible," reads a statement. "To that end, we have already begun looking at a number of alternatives to get the game back on track. We look forward to sharing more news about the franchise as it develops. Thank you again for your participation and support."
Polygon has reached out to Electronic Arts for further comment and confirmation of the closure of its Victory Games studio.

RIP. Played the alpha from early on, it had a lot of issues but definitely potential. I will miss it.

Fuck EA.
I'm personally happy about the decision to kill this game. It didn't look promising at all.
Hopefully everyone will find a new job quick.
Fantastic, EA might finally be coming to their senses.

I think i would of enjoyed the game if i got a chance to play it, but i'm kind of glad. Maybe we will get a proper game such as Generals 2, like it should of been in the first place.
It seems that i was one of the few persons who was looking forward to Command & Conquer 2013.
In my opinion it looked promising, i don't understand why they had to scrap everything + Why EA shut down VG...
Fantastic, EA might finally be coming to their senses.
Considering how long its been in production and how much marketing they gave it, suddenly shutting everything down and cutting off the team doesn't sound like coming to their senses. Surely it must have been close to finished.
You'd think this late in development they could just release it and see what happens, something isn't right here.
Reboot Tiberium, EA.
DO IT
My pessimistic ideas for the future of Command & Conquer-
Peter Molyneux buys its: the focus of the game isn't base building anymore, rather you are in charge of making phone calls to the families who have lost a loved one on the battlefield. Your success at consoling their grief earns you tiberium.
Jagex buys it, at the start of every battle you get three free roulette spins to decide what units you start with.
Indie dev creates a Kickstarter campaign for a fan-made reboot. After three months he bails from the campaign with 200k and buys a penthouse in Curitiba.
Most likely- EA holds on to it, nothing else. The end.

I've been following this mod for a while; Mental Omega 3.0 is finally coming out on November 30!

It's practically the Black Mesa of C&C, having been in development for almost ten years. It's more or less a reboot mod of the Red Alert 2 & Yuri's Revenge storyline aiming to balance the games, with three separate campaigns of 36 missions each and loads of new content and professional-quality voice work as well. Today it looks fantastic with the open source Ares tool they've developed for the game as well. I absolutely can't fucking wait to play it.
Are there any games similar to C&C 3 that aren't ancient? Endlessly replaying/Skirmishing C&C 3 gets boring after a couple of years, yet this style of RTS is simply too much fun to skip.

Hmm
Too bad they probably won't go back to making it actually Generals 2 like it should be, and instead keep going with their stupid f2p Starcraft clone idea which the shareholders think will work
