If you want to try RA1, but not the graphics, either just try it, or find The Red Alert mod(converts RA3 to the first game). I bet 10 dollars next game, Allies win again(4th red alert game, and it involves time travel again).
Yeah, I saw the Red Alert a while ago and to be honest it didn't look like such a great mod. I'll likely play RA2 sometime, it seems enjoyable and a bit less.. graphically restricted. [editline]10th July 2012[/editline] Reminds me, I need to finish Zero Hour. Left halfway through that and never quite completed it.
Generals 2 and subsequent C&C games will now all be F2P as part of a retarded service... What was once a fantastic series has now been devolved into... a monstrosity. It was great while it lasted, fellas.
"Unfortunately, there doesn’t appear to be a single-player portion anymore, a feature that seemed to be a prominent part of the game the last time we had a chance to ask about Generals 2. This new Command & Conquer will also require you to be connected online at all times. " rip
It amazes me the old Renegade mods C&C reborn and A Path beyond are still alive. Even though the first one hasn't seen a real release since 2003
C&C Reborn is nearing release.
If the most recent blog is anything to go by, I doubt it.
If the most recent blog is anything to go by, I doubt it.
I was a tester for Reborn. You're right. Bluehell seems to be adding nice frilly things, but last I've checked half the fucking buildings in the maps still aren't textured.
I just downloaded tiberian sun and the menus aren't displaying properly. all I get is a grey bar when I hit new campaign or options.
I learned to read playing Red Alert on my PS1. You can see my avatar makes me a proud supporter of Nod! To get this party started: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZQdaEFa_60
This thread needs a bump but more importantly- a discussion. So guys, what do you think is the most effective aircraft in the CnC universe? I think the FireHawk is unstoppable stuff. When I played LAN games with my dad a few years ago, he would always turtle until he had enough tanks to steamroll me.I was turtling too but my 10 year old mind couldn't grasp the concept of 'multiple resource gatherers'. What I quickly discovered was he had zero defences. So I continued having only one gatherer but I built as much airstuff as possible. I would smash his power stations to take down radar and his mediocre attempts at air defense. And from there, the fun began. Factories were first to go, then the resource gatherers, then the Command centre/Construction yard. When we bought two copies of CnC3 and upgraded our computers, he went straight to Nod because "Those piss-birds of yours won't be able to hit an invisible harvester!" Time for Orcas bitch! He still turtled but now he was dedicating all his funds to stealth tanks, air defences and Obelisks. After having a few hour-long games with dad winning 70% of the time, I became exposed to the glory of the FireHawk. Strat-boosters became my best friend. The first game (The map Alpine Assault remake for you detail hungry people) I used them he said "There are 40 Obelisks in my base and my nuke is ready in 3 minutes, WAHAHA! Also, nearly bedtime for you, let's finish this!" Then the piss-birds came. From the other room I heard a suppressed squeal. The bombs started dropped, first on his nuke then the Command Centre. Twenty-five airfields worth of FireHawks came down upon him and raped his base. The sight of one hundred planes appearing from nowhere created the most confused face I've ever seen. I still got sent to bed but was promised no school tomorrow due to battle deployment. We played eight hours straight that day and the games were 50/50 as we came up with more and more devious and sometimes plain weird tactics. (EMP buggy rush, anyone?) Me and dad still play as many competitive games today. Right now we are playing Dirt 3 and champion gets to decide the next game. Far Cry 2 please! My second favourite aircraft is the stealth Comanche. That stuff owns.
Yeah, Firehawk seemed the most deadly and me being a GDI fan I wouldnt say anything beats it...seriously, it has that serious firepower to make any scrin think twice before sending in his fancy aircraft. mo.cncguild.ne 3.0 of that is looking to be rather good...also a good mod if you want single player, campaign is rather hard (or atleast the first mission of allies was for me until I come came it..)
Wait a second, AFAIK Scrin isn't EA's faction. Westwood had them planned, but never got to make a game with them themselves. Don't ask me for source, but something tells me it was reliable.
Some sort of thing needs to happen where EA will change their mind and bring Generals 2 back to life Generals was a nice big chunk of my childhood and I don't want the sequel to be 400% shit

Judging from what I've heard of generals 2 I won't be going near that mess.
Even if it was too futuristic, I wanted a Generals 2. I loved the first one, and ZH (even if I haven't beaten it yet), I was so hyped for a sequel. Oh well, what can you do.

But, the entire race as it's seen in C&C3 was thought up by EA.
We should organise a match in RA1/RA2 with Facepunchers or something.
FP vs experts, get fucked.
Forgot to mention. It is Free-to-play.
It's obvious EA is going to run the series into the ground so every time I think of C&C I get sad .
I don't wanna get hopes up but this might mean EA might have learned a lesson from 'the outcast'.[sp]CnC4[/sp]
still free to play no campaign online drm
still free to play no campaign online drm
Can you still call it DRM if it's a free to play online multiplayer only game?
Anyone else enjoy tinkering with the game settings with TibEd?
We should organise a match in RA1/RA2 with Facepunchers or something.
I don't enjoy RA1 much anymore since playing OpenRA, its alot more balanced and allows for different strategys then tank rushes and Infantry are actually viable for once :v: (Also it has a kick ass map editor, with tons of custom tiles to use. Devs said about a year ago when I spoke to them you would be able to download custom maps and etc.)
OpenRA seems like an excellent choice. It's free and the moddable aspect will let FacePunchers do some crazy stuff! (Katawa Shoujo: Red Alert. Anyone?)
Does anyone have the sounds.mix for RA and C&C?
Katawa Shoujo RA? How does that work, considering Katawa means cripple?
Katawa Shoujo RA? How does that work,
Hanako- Flametrooper Kenji- Spy (Crossthreading is alright!)
Is there any mods for the old CnC games that make them use the same control scheme for mouse as modern rtses (as in, use both mouse buttons?) That is really the only thing that puts me off from playing them (aside from the constant CTDing)
