Bumping since i am interested making a C&C Generals Zero Hour mod. Like making a new faction, adding new units and models. Anyone here experienced with it? Thanks! Only thing i've made so far is adding a new faction. And it works, but it is actually the faction of america. [thumb]https://i.imgur.com/49JEECs.jpg[/thumb]
Been itching to play some more CnC ZH. Anyone know of some good singleplayer mods that are still pretty contemporary
my girlfriend completed the GDI campaign in tib sun yesterday despite having no experience with RTSs at all i'm so proud of her :,)
my girlfriend completed the GDI campaign in tib sun yesterday despite having no experience with RTSs at all i'm so proud of her :,)
I'm impressed with this and disappointed with myself now, since TS is my favorite RTS game (and was my first), but I still have not beat it's campaign.
The past few weeks, I've been enjoying playing this mod to OpenRA, Tiberian Dawn Apolyton. Overall, not very different from OpenRA's default C&C mod but it takes it and just gives it some extra stuff to play with, makes the experience fresh and new. The mod has a day/night cycle by default Some changes to units It reworks the standard rifleman, he will now throw grenades at vehicles or bunched up infantry. The commando is also changed, from a slow firing sniper to a rapid fire attack much like Tanya in Red Alert. (Also available to both sides, GDI and Nod) GDI Humvee has an upgrade that gives it a TOW Missile, not unlike the same upgrade in C&C Generals The Nod apache now uses missiles for vehicles and the cannon for infantry New units An Osprey that can transport infantry and carry vehicles, behaving like the carryall in Tiberian Sun A sniper available for both GDI and Nod A heavy harvester for GDI and a stealth harvester for Nod Units ported from Red Alert:
• radar jammer for GDI • heavy tank for nod (part of lockout choice, heavy tanks or stealth tanks, choosing one locks out the other) • mechanic for GDI • medic for nod • spy for nod • pillbox for nod • demo truck for nod
The Nod Pillbox and GDI guard tower share OpenRA Red Alert's Pillbox logic where the garrisoned infantry affects the building's weapon.
Is there an OpenRA mod that actually makes it copy the gameplay of original Red Alert with all corresponding bugs (Tech Center) and without extra units?
Is there an OpenRA mod that actually makes it copy the gameplay of original Red Alert with all corresponding bugs (Tech Center) and without extra units?
I've always hated the change they made that Soviets get no helicopters and the Hind is moved to the Allies. The lack of Soviet transport helicopter makes Allies much better than them on maps where there are oil wells in unreachable locations. Also the Hind is a Russian Helicopter, why the hell are the Allies using it? Many of OpenRA Red Alert's Balance choices have always looked dumb in my eyes, that's why I pretty much exclusively play ORA-C&C (Although even that has some dumb choices with balance) but to answer your question: There's been a few mods attempted that reverse OpenRA's changes from the original, but overall, they play very differently from the original game and most of them fade into obscurity pretty fast. [editline]this is a silly idea[/editline] The most recent mod of this sort I can find "RA Classic" is from 2017, October. I'm replaying tibsun atm (or should I say, finally getting past like the 3rd or 4th mission) This game has a disgustingly amazing amount of atmosphere. I just wish the units were a little less clunky and better balanced and I could really enjoy the gameplay as much as the setting. God damn though, I don't think I've played any other RTS that can actually get me immersed, let alone an RTS that can give me shivers Only contender is probably ye olde XCom but that's not even an rts.
I don't know what it is about TibSun's atmosphere that is actually really iconic and stands out for me. It really feels like an almost Alien like future, incredibly grim, dark, industrial with a very intense vibe of no hope. Would love to see a 3D RTS come close to conveying the same atmosphere, it's so unique
Tiberian Sun Atmosphere
Did some mention Tiberian Sun's amazing atmosphere?
literally nothing i've ever played has ever come close to the dystopic hellscape that tib sun presents of north america it's just so beautiful and i wish there was more of it
http://www.frankklepacki.com/portfolio/game-TS.html Listen to the entire Tib Sun soundtrack in all of its high quality glory on Frank's site! It sounds incredible
Wished there was a remade to bring the TBSun and RA2 with their feel and all up to modern systems and amenities. Man, listening to the main menu theme reminded me of how long I spent listening to it in my hugeass CRT with the menu taking over the entire screen. Nowdays it doesn't have the same feel with a small square at modern resolutions.

First ones that spring to mind: The hunter-killer drone has to be controlled manually and Nod's chemical missile isn't a thing. Most recent video of the mod I found with a quick search is from December, two months ago. The OpenRA github has a milestone for Tiberian Sun, with a collection of issues they want to solve before making a first release of the mod https://github.com/OpenRA/OpenRA/milestone/21
literally nothing i've ever played has ever come close to the dystopic hellscape that tib sun presents of north america it's just so beautiful and i wish there was more of it
Back in the day my friend and I were so immersed into the entire setting that we played the TibSun multiplayer via null modem cable in a room in his basement on old ass computers. We decorated the entire room like a command station and we even dressed up as commanders with berets (of course as NOD). His father was also an engineer and had tons of electric shit lying around that we used to make things look more authentic. Also when we were losing hard in multiplayer against the AI, we set up a red siren that was illuminating the entire room. Man, that was such a blast. Honestly, I think the setting and visuals really capture this kind of dystopian atmosphere. Furthermore the soundtrack is absolutely unrivaled to this day. Somehow Klepacki managed to create a sound that suits the universe so well. When I hear Elusive, I immediately feel thrown back into the Tiberium universe.
Do any of you nerds wanna play a game of TibSun sometime? I've got that C&C itch again
only if its firestorm
I'm down
https://cncnet.org/tiberian-sun cncnet brought back the mp with their own servers in a client that supports 1080p
I'm gonna promote the C&C FP Discord again and polish it up a bit and see if we can get some games going. Feel free to check us out here! https://discord.gg/enJmjnV

Also, what was everyone's favorite mission? RA2: Paris, Chicago (for what happened, missed those ending mission videos as well), Allied 5, both final missions. YR: Allied 4, 6, Soviet 6, and 7 CNC3: First GDI Mission, Commando one, Nod betraying GDI. RA3: Mt. Rushmore, Final Allied mission, both Shogun Executioner missions (oh look, Tesla coils, mind if I take your energy), Soviet/Empire final Uprising missions

You have 30 seconds to comply
I was 9 when I first installed RA2. That line made me panic and I rushed entering my cd key as I thought something was actually gonna happen at the end of 30 seconds. I miss all the cool install processes that old video games had. It showed that the devs cared a lot about every aspect of their game, even the most boring part of installing it. It helped to build excitement for the game.

Contra is good but really changes the general gameplay and makes the AI way harder. Destructive Forces is really fun but unbalanced. I remember Global Crisis being fun too but can't comment on that too much because I forgot how it played lol

Did any of those C&C 3 mods to remake TibSun ever come out, or anything like it? I just want something newer that has the Tiberian Sun atmosphere, even if it's just a music pack and darker visuals
