This might interest you in that case.

You could represent the traversable play space as a graph of nodes against the world. Dynamically added/removed elements such as units, buildings etc... would 'remove' elements from the graph or consider them inaccessible or the purposes of path finding. Then do Djikstra's shortest path algorithm and like the video says, account for edge cases. This may not necessarily work well for games with the more freeform movement like C&C (or lots of things...), but for super tile based stuff like XCOM or Civilization this is a way to go. A challenge would be representing the structure correctly in a complex play space.
A* and such work perfectly for turn-based concepts. However, it's implementation in RTS games that interests me more. At certain point, multiple calculations of multiple nodes starts to add up, you also have to store corresponding data per unit, having the unit properly react, etc. It feels like there is large memory requirement, but somehow it was worked around. It's more interesting for TS, where they did not have an excuse of 5-infantry per tile mechanics that the first 2 games had (I don't think Sole Survivor had it either).
It seems they added not just an algorithm but a set of logic cases for common issues and to get it to avoid doing something stupid.
Such as an odd narrow gap he said "just wiggle a bit" and with allied units being in the way you get them to "wiggle a bit" and stuff like "Don't try to path around nearby moving allied units, and if they do pose and obstacle wiggle a bit".
Turns out the Kane's Wrath I bought online wasn't the game but a "pre-order bonus pack" that has a behind-the-scenes DVD and a map offer that's no longer valid. Not sure if that's the seller's fault or my
fault for not considering that EA could still screw me over even when buying second hand and trying to avoid Origin. Because who the fuck else would make something like this?
Fucking hell.
It's weird to think just how much FMVs make you connect with the game and the actors we have gotten so used to see through the series. Even more than game series that used CGI to represent characters, C&C has associated those characters with real people. And it's a damn shock to be reminded of mortality of real people. Although for me, Tiberian Sun was the first personal game in the series, it is the combination of briefing by General Sheppard played by Eric Martin, Act of Instinct, and the voice clip of "Reinforcements Have Arrived" that defined C&C for a great deal of people.
Honestly, I was so utterly amazed at some of the Tiberian Sun cutscenes, like the ones where Kane executes Hassan. I really liked the NOD aesthetics and overall feel. I always wanted a NOD uniform.
The sleek black clothing, combined with that red scorpion emblem and a red baret. Looks fucking ace.
If that's the kind of art direction they're going then I think it's perfect. It's very faithful while adding detail without going over the top with greeble.
I know the original game is also cartoonish, but that crane is almost toy-like.
Its an art style that has to be oddly proportioned to come across with any detail.
I think I would prefer it to be slightly less stylised, but if the final game is like that, I'd still be happy with how it looks.
Remember that is does need to be recognisable from a rather zoomed out camera and amidst a lot of other similar base buildings.
It's pretty much just a 1:1 recreation of the original sprite, so I'd rather have them stick to that for everything instead of trying to re-invent the artstyle.
What I mean is how the classic games had a relatively soft colour palette.
It's pretty noticeable when you compare the colours of Tiberium universe games to Red Alert universe games. This remastered construction yard almost looks like it would fit better into Red Alert 2 than Tib Dawn.
If anybody wants to mod RA3 and can't get the BuildStudio to work on 64 bit, here's the solution:

Picked up the full collection pack from Origin because it was £3 on cd keys. Already done the GDI campaign on CnC95, working my way through the NOD one now. I have no fucking clue how I ever got anywhere as a child in the first game playing on a playstation of all things. Must've used cheat codes.
They run okay albeit a little wonky. I have to make frequent saves as they will randomly crash at mission start or end. I thought Tiberium Sun would run better but the resolution options just make the actual game smaller and the black bars around the edge bigger, I could swear I used to be able to play it at 720 or 1080 on one of my older computers. Also after the second mission was completed, I could hear the cutsene happening in the background but I was still stuck looking at the mission complete message.
I'm hoping it is just a one off though, I think Tiberium Sun is my favourite setting for C&C
Use this for C&C 95, there is a patch out there for Red Alert somewhere

An Index page from Nyergud's site has pretty much everything they're sharing to the world.

Funnily enough I did install that thing but it just completely broke my game and I had to reinstall. CnC95 has probably ran the best for me so far.
I've been playing Tiberian Sun that I got from the CnC-Comm website, I am so excited to play through the campaign. Unfortunately, the game crashes often after finishing a mission. Any idea what it could be?
I have the same shit. Best I can suggest is going into your tib sun folder, setting all the .exe's in there to run with XP service pack 2 compatibility and run as admin.
Also running this patcher Tiberian Sun patches
AND
I'm also using a patcher that fixes the launchers for the ultimate collection which may not apply to you but I'll link it anyway.
C&C Ultimate Collection Launchers
This combo of things gets me through most missions but I make sure to frequently save just in case.
Yeah, I followed some of that advice. It's still a bit wonky. Just saving regularly seems to deal with it. Although sometimes it fucks my pc so much that I have to reboot the system.
Not had it break my pc. Usually there'll just be a white flash and I'll hear the cutscene playing behind it but i'll be stuck on the victory screen.
Try this wrapper. I dunno if it'll help but it's worth a shot. Just download ddraw.dll and drop it in the main directory.

So I just played "Big Apple" again and it seems on the Origin versions you can level the WTC still

Gave me a health crate though instead of money
Sorry for the massive bump, but there's a new preview image for the C&C remaster!

wish they'd have stuffed defenses into their own tab but still everything looks good
