• The Sims Megathread - Come on in! The house is on fire but it's ok. Have you seen my basement?

Sims 3 had less careers than Sims 4 at launch, and until that one expansion came about that had jobs like being a firefighter, they weren't any more in-depth. Open worlds, meh, only thing I don't like about the new system is having a loading screen if you're going into a neighbors house, but other than that all I feel like I'm missing is taxi rides or my sim running half across the world like an idiot. Create a style is a shame to go but I prefer the performance increase from it going. Couldn't give a shit about kids though can see why some people might. The improved features you mention is pretty much what you end up spending a large amount of time doing in the Sims.
Okay, but the thing is, this is a 60 dollar sequel, and it's a straight downgrade when it comes to the open world thing, and create a style. If one sim is at home, and the other is outside, I HAVE to look at the one that is outside. I get what youre saying, but it should be improved in all aspects of the sims 3, instead of being mostly the same/downgrade save for the three changes I listed.
Just throwing my opinion out there man. I guess I don't see it as a downgrade as much of them hitting a good mid-way point between open world and performance?
If one sim is at home, and the other is outside, I HAVE to look at the one that is outside.
Not necessarily. You can switch between them.

I played it just fine on an old notebook that even struggled with CSS after the last engine update.

VANILLA sims 3 doesn't have any problems tho. I think if Sims 4 has a good technical foundation and can scale very well when expansions get added and not slow down as much (remember the loading screens in sims 2 when you had all expansions? yeah). Removing the open world might've been a good idea, who knows. Or perhaps they just removed it because they want to release this game on consoles and removing the open world means they can control the performance better.
I remember reading before the game came out that custom music wasn't going to exist - but it works! Song titles are broken, though. Just put MP3 files in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Custom Music\Alternative or whatever genre you want the music to be in
I want to buy the game, but I have no idea how well it'll run on my computer and I don't want to waste money on something I can't play. Decision.
Alright so I've been thinking about buying the game. From what I've read here, it's a lot more fun than Sims 3, it also handles better and the sims themselves are a bit more emotional, which is a good addition. Does the CDKeys still remain to be the cheapest offer around? As much as I want to try it out, I really don't feel paying 60 Euro for it.
I want to buy the game, but I have no idea how well it'll run on my computer and I don't want to waste money on something I can't play. Decision.
The game has the lowest system specs of any game released the last few years, I'm sure you'll be okay
I want to buy the game, but I have no idea how well it'll run on my computer and I don't want to waste money on something I can't play. Runs incredibly smooth.
How well does it run on Intel Integrated GPU? I have a Nvidia GT640m in my laptop, but if I use it for more than 30 minutes, I may as well just put my laptop in the oven.

I highly recommend CDKeys. I've purchased two copies of Sims 4 Limited edition off them. One for myself which was Instant delivery. Second was for my Girlfriend and was a little longer (15) mins due to a having to be authorized cause I purchased 2 separately in a short time span. Both keys worked perfectly.
Sims 4 is 70 USD here in Sweden. If you have paypal you can use a VPN and access origins webpage from, say Mexico. I paid 35 USD for my copy, however I pretty much lost my option to refund, but then again I've been a Steam user for years.
Using a vpn to buy stuff is never a good idea.
Using a vpn to buy stuff is never a good idea.
Sure, but it's not against the origin eula or tos. edit: You can ask origin support yourself, they won't say that you're not allowed to do it.
This isn't the smoldering thirty car pileup I was expecting TS4 to be. Instead I got a burning tire. A burning tile filled with memes and selfies.
Post your specs and I'm sure someone can at least take a guess.
Would one of you mind taking a guess for me? These are my specs.

when sims browse the web on the phones, the polycount logo appears [t]http://i.imgur.com/3mayTXV.jpg[/t]
So what's the verdict people. Is the Sims 4 worth buying?
If you don't mind the fact that its a basegame and can wait for expansions, yeah.
Your sims can get fat if you don't exercise them I was surprised to see how pudgy my sim was when he went to take a shower
So what's the verdict people. Is the Sims 4 worth buying?
Personally I'm having more fun with it than I ever did with 3, and as far as base games go its more fleshed out than 2 or 3 were (TS3 was barren at the start)
Dear god they're so expressive and fun to look at and the multitasking is amazing holy shit I've never had so much fun with a base game since 2
I'm starting to wonder if people even played Sims 2's base game. People are saying 4's base is waaaay weaker than 2's which is such crap. Base Sims 2 was fucking empty.

Base Sims 2 was fucking empty.
That's the complaint for every Sims game. When the Sims 2 came out people bitched that it didn't have stuff from the Sims, the same with the Sims 3. People get used to the expansions and forget how bare bones the Sims is at launch, every Sims game even from the start.
I feel like EA giving away The Sims 2 didn't help the image of The Sims 4, ironically.
