no idea if it's in, but 'testingcheatsenabled true'
It's 'testingcheats true' now.
Pirated games features permanent censorship mosaic on Sims after they use the toilet/take a shower
Glad they spent the time to do that instead of actually adding content to the game.
I really wish the neighborhoods were bigger. It's the only thing that's holding me off from buying the game. It sucks that there is really only four or so empty lots. I don't mind the loading screen part, but they could have made the communities a lot bigger.
Honestly, that's such a minor thing (when you actually play the game).
It's kind of disappointing though. There are tons of houses surround me, yet I can't visit any of them.

It's majorly disappointing, I do not understand why they would remove the free, open world part of the game.

That probably took around 30 seconds to make.

i think you underestimate how temperamental code actually is.
Sims 4 is 70 USD here in Sweden. If you have paypal you can use a VPN and access origins webpage from, say Mexico. I paid 35 USD for my copy, however I pretty much lost my option to refund, but then again I've been a Steam user for years.
I know everyone here is against using a VPN to buy stuff but I did it for Battlefield 3, Sim City, and Titanfall. Nothing has happened to my account or games so far and I doubt anything will.

I remember reading before the game came out that custom music wasn't going to exist - but it works! Song titles are broken, though.
Just put MP3 files in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Custom Music\Alternative or whatever genre you want the music to be in
Fuck yes, missed this in TS3, hopefully it gets fixed up over time. I think I'll get TS4 at some point now.

They did it because a large part of their audience probably haven't upgraded their PCs since before the Sims 3. Or they're playing on shitty laptops and macbooks.

It should be a feature you can turn on in that case.
it's kinda hard for something that big to just be enabled
The thing is, do you know how insane it would be for a Sims game to release with something like every ex pack from the previous generation? It'd be fucking awesome, no doubt, but it would take for-fucking-ever to develop and it's practically giving it away for $60. There are things in the subsequent ex packs that I think should totally be in the base game, I'm sure we'll see it when they come out (see Late Night for The Sims 3), but I think asking for the kind of content people tend to complain for when a new Sims game comes out in a little overbearing.

That, and ex packs tend to be so pick-and-choose. I'm 100% sure I'm not buying Pets this time. Fuck that.
This. Consider the lifelong development cycle for a sims game from original release through the last expansion pack. If they included all that content in the original game, it'd take so much longer to develop, and that would mean basically that the studio is bleeding money for that amount of time, with no new income to match the expenses, and the lack of a guarantee that it'll pay off all of that in the end. Plus, with all of these expenses attributed to a single product, how do you think EA would price it in order to cover costs and not sell at a massive loss?

True, but that still doesn't excuse key content/features not being available in the base game. My problem isn't with expansion packs/DLC - my problem is with expansion packs/DLC that contains stuff that should have been in the base game.
What if GTA VI got released with a handful of cars and the inability to rob shops - and then an expansion pack got released that added that feature back in and added some more cars? Would we accept that? I think not.
Also, generally, speaking, game size is becoming less of an issue these days. Also bear in mind that it is mostly new furniture that takes up the most amount of space in expansion packs - and my gripe isn't really with not having enough types of beds/chairs/TVs/etc.

Many other games series' exist which manage to improve on previous iterations without cutting features/content. Again, I refer to GTA - which has consistently managed to increase the area available to the player, improve graphics, add news stuff to do, and all the without removing (popular) content/features. EA/Maxis is a big company with lots of resources and if they honestly don't have the time and money to develop a game properly, then I have to ask why are they making it at all. Developers shouldn't make games simply for the sake of it - likewise they shouldn't make half a game and then ask for more money for the other half.

But how do you decide what should be in the base game and what shouldn't? People will always pick their favorite expansion content, which is going to be entirely subjective. By cherrypicking these features, they will still have tons of pissed off people saying "Why did you add this and not this?"
Does the base Sims 4 have weather?
I really feel like Seasons/Weather should be in the base games. That was one of the most jarring things going from Sims 2 Seasons to the base Sims 3 game. It never rained or got stormy, it was always just nice and sunny forever.
Anyone disappointed that the 2 worlds they made don't even have a restaurant or a cafe to go to for dates and stuff? I remember Sims 3 having a diner and a cafe at the start if I'm not mistaken
holy shit the music from stereos speeds up with the time speeds
That sounds kinda sucky, I liked being able to listen to my tunes while everyone was asleep or working

There definitely could stand to be more community lots. A restaurant, maybe a library where the geek sims could gather. Hopefully the way the map is structured means more sections can be added, since they wouldn't have to modify the actual world so much, or have to do what they did with Ambitions, where they just made new worlds holding the profession buildings.

Hopefully, more content will be added in patches but knowing EA, I'm thinking it being more of DLC which is kinda sad.
Anyone else sometimes get abit of lag for no reason?
I for one like the new neighbourhood style, i do hope to see bigger maps in future expansions, but the main problem i had in TS3 was the story progression hangups, since the whole world was loaded and playing at the same time, the way it has been handled this time round is far better
oh god when sims pee ACTUAL piss comes out. it's really a stream of piss instead of a sound effect and implied pissing

All of the food in the sims looks diverse but it is actually taco bell. All taco bell.
I was going to buy this until I heard it wasn't open-world anymore. Fuck off.

Disregarding how the open world made great PCs lag to shit
am i the only one not missing open world that much
its what made 3 a laggy mess for me, also all the loading is quick as fuck so
So instead of trying to optimise it they go "fuck it" and remove it completely? And I'm supposed to pay 50€ for this?
