The Sims Megathread - Come on in! The house is on fire but it's ok. Have you seen my basement?
I started a family. A boy, his father, and his mother. The boy went on his first day of school and his mother was organized (by yours truly) to be burned alive in a horrible cooking accident. I fucked up, though and all she did was scream and stare at the fire, dancing around the burning counter tops. The fire oddly didn't spread to the rest of the room, though, which is very odd. Suddenly, her husband came home from work. They both began dancing around. Suddenly the son appeared. The son apparently thought it'd be a great idea to bring a friend and his father (Wat) home with him, and they all proceeded to dance around the fire in terror.
By the end of it, I was greeted with this image and decided to retire:
I am wondering, why do they always dance around the fucking disaster instead of run outside and wait for backup or fight the damn fire themselves? I mean, I know the brave ones will fight it, but why dance around panicking that there is a fire, instead of being intelligent?

Well, I actually DID stop them from using an extinguisher, but I still get your logic. They should've fled.
Reinstalling the Sims 2 one expansion at a time with one family. Let's see how this goes.
A lot of Sims 3 stuff is on sale on Origin. The older expansion packs are $10 each.
What the fuck, it's a wasteland in here.

I really wish I had a good PC to play this with all the expansions :/ . For now I just made me and a group of friends, we're all having a good laugh.

there is no "good pc" to play with all the expansions. the game is so fucking bloated that it slows down even good machines.
Well that dwindled my hopes a bit more :/, all I really wanted was Late Night, Seasons, and Pets.
Well that dwindled my hopes a bit more :/, all I really wanted was Late Night, Seasons, and Pets.
Then get 'em. Three expansions shouldn't be unbearable.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the Sims 3 is more CPU than GPU intensive? I found that shutting off a ton of unneeded programs with gamebooster significantly increased my performance.
The AI is very CPU intensive, especially when Sims get stuck.
What are your specs? My laptop can run it fine as long as I don't have every expansion installed.

[del]get the expansions. the game will still work. just be prepared for longer load times and installing overwatch to clean up the bullshit.
my comment wasn't mean to discourage you from getting the expansions, on the contrary actually. even a good pc is bogged down by the sims 3 with expansions so you might as well get them now.[/del]
All I have is a crummy laptop, I can barely run STALKER on a a standard diffuculty.
if you can't run stalker well you shouldn't be able to run sims 3 well either.

Thank god, now I can get to playing in Bridgeport.

Start off with a single Adult sim. I did that, and by the end my sprawling family had spread its roots deep and wide throughout the lands. Keep taking pictures. It's fun to look back on the earlier sims, when you were broke and could barely afford a tiny house.
I did that with sims 2 couple of years ago. Very fun
[editline]19th February 2013[/editline]
P.S. After I get a good gaming PC I want to play the Sims 3 with all the expansions. BUT IT COSTS £130 approx. That's just mad. What is the cheapest they have gone for on Steam/origin? Of course, I will just buy 1 or 2 to begin with
This is the last time I make a family under the effects of exhaustion.
The family consists of Santa Hitler, the grandfather, Stalin Hitler, the abusive father, Tyrone Hitler, the genius and malnourished son, and Anti-Hitler Hitler, the abusive dog.

I bought The Sims 3 and all the Expansion Packs (Not the Stuff Packs) for $125 last sale, which is around about the price I pay for new games over here in Australia anyway, so it's a good deal if you ask me.
I'm bored so I think I'm gonna play the first Sims. Mite b cool.

Man keeping all the little moodlets and shit up is sort of stressful.

That's all I could find, you'd think with the amount of times I've asked about this I'd remember how t check specs.

That site is utter bullshit, you know, right?
So, what do I do?
That site is utter bullshit, you know, right?
how so? i havn't used it in years since i know my system specs.
So, what do I do?
are you on windows 7?
if so, click the windows icon/start button and type 'dxdiag' into the search prompt and press enter. that will give your system specs.
if you are on xp then go to start, run, then type 'dxdiag'.
you should be able to run it at the minimum settings, assuming you have a 128 mb or higher video card.
[editline]20th February 2013[/editline]
hell you got more memory than i do dude.
And with the expansions?
the requirements don't change iirc, it's just that it will take a lot longer to load and the game might start running funny, especially in bridgeport, if you don't regularly clean up stuck sims, vehicles, pets, etc.

The latest patch fixed Bridgeport.
The latest patch fixed Bridgeport.
My Bridgeport becomes completely unplayable after about 7 sim days. Even when I reset all sims.
