The Sims Megathread - Come on in! The house is on fire but it's ok. Have you seen my basement?

I'm thinking of buying Sims 4 since it's on sale. I wish they would do some kind of season pass/premium thing for the inevitable expansions, though.

fuck it, bought the game. sims 3 is too much of a crashing piece of shit.
Can you mod it?
Is there sex mods?

That's classified.

Yes. ModTheSims has a whole section of Sims 4 mods.
Not afaik although I'm also not looking.
Careers coming next week.

So, I have The Sims 3 and, like, one expansion and stuff pack from the Humble Origin Bundle. I've been thinking of buying the rest over time but since 4 is already out I've been thinking of getting that instead. However I've heard negative stuff about 4 and I'm questioning whether or not to get the rest of 3's expansions or wait for 4 to get more things before moving to it.
Thoughts?

This, considering it's 50 bucks right now on the Australian Origin, is Sims 4 worth it? (as opposed to it's regular 80 bucks)
S4 is probably worth more, unless you want to stay with 3. They started adding more things(surprisingly for free), and its a lot more smoother last I heard. But 3 has more content, however, the expansions cost a shitload all together, but since you said you were going to try buying the rest over time, I would suggest either buying 4 or buy the expansion packs when there is a sale.
Careers are out, and so is this Holiday Celebration Pack.

[editline]18th December 2014[/editline]
So I started reminsing with a friend about how I made a crap load of friends in the Sims 3 and replaced everyone in the towns with them.
One person kept lighting themselves on fire and then coming back to life.
Two disappeared, (corrupted by I went David Lynch explanation).
And the funniest moment is I had one of them light a bowl of cereal on fire. They died afterward.
Don't know if I want to buy sims yet
Is there good porn mods?

Eh, jumping to the travel DLC this early on disappoints me if it's done the way I'm expecting. I'd really like to see them flesh out the current base game, add in a new neighborhood, and give us a complete experience at home before they let us travel to parts of the world or even a city district.
Where the fuck is the oben for business dlc they can do it now with the single lot system
And every male/female (depending on the sim's gender) character in the vicinity has a jet-like nosebleed.
Never understood that. It's like everyone in Japan spun the wheel of random body functions, ignored the first roll of vomiting and chose nosebleed as the reaction to sexiness.

I'm interested but I was hoping for a more "Sims: Unleashed" thing like the first game where the neighbourhood was massively expanded.
I'm not mad that it's so soon. I'm not looking forward to anything vacation/campy, but I am curious how much content will be in these Game Packs and what their prices will be.
The one issue I had with TS3 expansions was the lack of content for the price (for most of them).

Thats what LGR is for so you know what you're getting into.

This first game pack is priced at $20. Doesn't seem worth it at the moment, but I guess we'll have to wait and see how much is actually in it to determine whether it's worth it or not.
I was kind of hoping something like Seasons would be their first paid dlc. Oh well.
Eh. It sounds like they wanna accelerate how much content they put out by doing these Game Packs, so it's probably going to be a lot of incremental Game Packs instead of a single ex pack every six to eight months. This could go either way. I could also be totally wrong.

Its because in Japanese folklore, a nose bleed indicates sexual arrousal. There are also nerve endings inside the nose when stimulated you get horny.
Look at this fucking amazing mod

Outdoor Retreat is out.
Yay, I guess.
Some guy's first impressions
-A little over 60 objects, one floor, 3 walls...that's about as much as an actual EP comes with, and more than a stuff pack comes with.
-6 new lots to play with and do what you please
-New vacation mechanics- pay for days off, pay up front to rent lots, live off-lot for a rental fee, stuff like that.
-Two new maps to explore
-New hair (Short and Long for guys, 5 for girls...Once again, the guys get absolutely shafted.)
-New clothes (Noticed at least 8 shoes for guys, 5 or so tops, 5 bottoms, and I'm sure more than that for the girls but I didnt look)
-New traits, meaning new gameplay
-A new skill (and possibly collectibles?), Herbalist, and new craftables (potions)
-New interactions (Stargazing, horseshoes, camping stuff at the fire, etc)
That actually doesn't sound awful for $20.
The guy says this is on par with what you'd get with an EP from older games (which in turn is more than those Stuff Packs), but I can't really verify his claims.
LGR's take on it.
