Head's up Southern Hemisphere: EA apparently "accidentally" set the price of Outdoor Retreat as ten bucks higher than intended in Australia and New Zealand. They've fixed it now(AU$30 and NZ$40) and if you paid the higher price, the difference will be refunded. So, that's something.
You know there's a lot of really neat lots in the gallery, it's a pity the world ISN'T BIG ENOUGH TO TAKE THEM Honestly the world size in 4 is absolutely pitiful
Someone did a content quantity comparison between the first Sims 3 stuff pack, and the first Sims 4 game pack. tl;dr The Sims 4 gamepack has like 4x more content, also there's actual new gameplay features instead of just useless objects
So have they announced that game packs are the direct replacement for stuff packs, and we'll still be expecting expansion packs in the future?
So have they announced that game packs are the direct replacement for stuff packs, and we'll still be expecting expansion packs in the future?
They haven't officially announced anything beyond "Game Packs are a thing now".
Anyone know where I can get a PC digital copy of Castaway Stories?
Anyone tried Outdoor Retreat? Is it worth the money?
I need to get back into this, might do when I come back from work later.
Fresh from EA's investor report for the third quarter of their 2015 financial year:
Although this guidance passes through essentially all of the Q3 earnings outperformance to the full year, it does not pass through all of the revenue. The reduction in our Q4 revenue expectation is based on uncertainty around future currency movements and the decision to move EA SPORTS PGA TOUR and the first Sims 4 expansion pack to FY16.
This means we won't see a full expansion until April at the earliest.
EA posted on Facebook that The Sims 4 for Mac will be released on the 17th. If you have the PC version already, you'll be able to just download the Mac version from Origin.
Sims 2 mods are still the best:
Family Trees are back, I guess. Also here's a picture that hints that the police are coming back. [thumb]https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8594/16435732211_ef3918e641_z.jpg[/thumb]
police weren't in before?
That police dude is a creeper.
police weren't in before?
No, police weren't in before. All services except for maids and pizza delivery people were removed, but I think that I read somewhere that the repairman service is in the game, but it's disabled. I could be wrong about the repairmen, though.
I'm not familiar with the genealogy update. How does having family trees affect the game? Also is there a site selling Outdoor Retreat codes for cheap?
I'm not familiar with the genealogy update. How does having family trees affect the game?
It doesn't, but it's a nice thing to have. Especially if you're doing, like, Legacy Challenges or another type of playthrough that spans generations.
The trailer for the first expansion pack. Roughly translated from the Norwegian is "On the Job" or "Get to Work" and it seems to return old careers and have elements of the Sims 2: Open for Business and Sims 3: Ambitions expansion packs.

It actually looks quite fun
Oh hey, actually working at your job.
Ohhh, start your own company.. that was the shit in sims 2.
Liking the sound if it. Any idea when in February the Sims will come to mac? My sister shares my account for Sims 3 at the moment but wants that.
Awe man it's going to be an actual expansion pack? $40 for something they took out of the game? I like the idea behind Outdoor Retreat. $20 and you get a few decent things. But a full fledged feature expansion with features that were removed from the main game? Come on EA, I thought we've been through this!
yea 40 euros for an expansion pack..Thats a little too much
I'm pretty excited, I was pretty fond of Sims 3 Ambitions, and Open For Business was my favorite Sims 2 expansion. This seems like both in one! Plus Aliens are rad.
$40 has been the regular price for a Sims ex pack since ever. [editline]4th February 2015[/editline] Literally have this conversation every time a new ex pack comes out. You either buy it because you want it or just wait for a sale. Christ.
I'm looking forward to it just because of the content that was in Outdoor Retreat, which was like half an ex pack, but still had as many new objects as an ex pack, more than a stuff pack, and decent amount of new mechanics. I'll still wait on LGR, but if they handle it the same way they've been handling the Sims 4 has a whole, it's probably not going to be bad.
Why do people seem to be think that anything that's DLC, is stuff that was removed from the original game? No, the stuff they add in wasn't removed from the original game, stop talking shit.

This is what I was hoping for when I first heard of the Sims 4. Jobs being more than just "your sim disappearing and coming back with money".
And I'm also glad to see more sensible careers. That said, I miss being a ghost buster... I built a seemigly inocuous barn in my backyard that had a bunch of convincing cardboard cut-out cows obscuring a hidden elevator that led to my secret ghost busting lab where I stored all of the ghosts I caught. Shit was money.
