• The Sims Megathread - Come on in! The house is on fire but it's ok. Have you seen my basement?

4 is a necessary, yet painful step in refinement of The Sims. 3 is my favorite, and I still play it all the time - but it kinda feels like a spaghetti pile of mechanics and code from the old games with new spaghetti added as well. TS4 exists to remove too many things for a responsive and performing game, so that 5 can hopefully strike a balance. I do agree though that TS4 still feels like it just came out... the defense that Sims games were always barren on launch totally makes sense but it's been two years and 4 can't even hope to have as much content as 3 does.
Is there a good mod that acts as a mid point between vanilla potato faces and waifu baby doll extreme mods everything in this game seems destined to look awkward
Hey, not sure if people are interested in this, but the global FreeSO server is live in beta now if you liked playing Sims Online at all.
i'd love to see sims 1 complete remastered for mobile

I really need some roomies, even if only for a bit lol
I did a thing: [t]http://i.imgur.com/O48wHp4.jpg[/t]
Both Hobbes and Calvin's parents are in the same room, and yet they're too busy reading their books to acknowledge his existence as a living tiger on two legs and not as a stuffed toy
Also, have a goofy sad face [t]http://i.imgur.com/U0rnmDA.jpg[/t]
Snip, found out that for some reason the game doesn't like the 64 bit version of the game
Does anyone know a good way to fix performance issues with Sims 3, specifically issues involving characters freezing and CAS being slow and unresponsive half the time?
Does anyone know a good way to fix performance issues with Sims 3, specifically issues involving characters freezing and CAS being slow and unresponsive half the time?
Download Overwatch and ErrorTrap by NRass. Other than that, not much you can really do. Sims 3 is notoriously shitty for its performance, and it got the best of me in the end. In the end, all I wanted to do was build houses and shit but its performance is abysmal. Oh, some neighbourhoods apparently are bugged, with bad pathfinding/routing and some weird lots/families. Look into that.
Oh, some neighbourhoods apparently are bugged, with bad pathfinding/routing and some weird lots/families. Look into that.
There's also fixed versions of these neighborhoods on modthesims, if you wanted to use them still.
So regarding The Sims Online reboot, FreeSO, I've been playing it and its pretty damn great. It is weird seeing the original Sims with improved lighting/etc. I played it back in 2006-2008 and ran this little place called "Hollywood Resteraunt" - because I didn't know how to spell "Restaurant" when I was 13. It got kind of weirdly popular and I hired on this 11 year old to help me run it. We had a "menu" and a kitchen staff that would serve folks cake and crap. We ran that thing up until EA shut the servers down. 10 years later, I check up on this thread to see only one other dude talking about the FreeSO launch and reach out to him. Turns out its the same damn 11 year old who helped me run my stupid restaurant and he's -also- been on Facepunch for all these years. So yeah, looks like its "Hollywood Resteraunt: Part II" motherfucker.
that's poetic meanwhile i installed a mod that keeps visiting sims on the lot for longer. i don't recall if the creator mentioned how long they stay but at one point i had 9+ visiting sims on the lot eating all my food and napping on my couches since i had no extra beds. i had to lock the doors on the bed rooms or the assholes would sleep in my sims' nice, comfy, expensive beds.
Yeah, if you guys want to do a little Facepunch thing and make an FP neighborhood, definitely let me know. So far, last I've checked, there is usually about 100 players online at any given time.

Hired someone to construct the shell and I'm filling it out myself. Gonna host games of Mafia, trivia challenges, have a casino floor, that kind of shit.
I'm gonna give FSO a try tomorrow after my midterm. So yeah I'm totally down for that FP neighborhood thingy.
If enough people here decide to hop onto an FSO server or something I might try it out.
I played it for the last two days, it seems far too grindy to even start out and seemingly the entire world revolves around the grind. I don't think I like joining 20+ speechless players standing in front of a mirror for hours just to get +10 charisma or spending 40 minutes at the robotic factory repeatedly pressing levers for small change. I mean it would be better if you were able to jump right in to the whole owning property and running businesses thing, but instead you first have to spent hours grinding skills and money.

Skilling sucks, but unlike Second Life and EA-Land era TSO, it is interesting to have an economy based around player effort and time devotion, rather than dollars for simoleans. My goal is to do what I did last time: Do the diner-dash job until I can get my restaurant up, then expand on the tips I make from that and any roommates that show up that want to chip in and expand with their own ideas. If anyone wants to add me, my Username is Uberskinnycod and my character is Lison Butler.
Okay so I've just hopped into the game and trying to level up with charisma at charisma & cooking ranch. Got any tips for a newbie? [editline]21st July 2017[/editline] Also, username is Outta_CTRL and char name is Ali Alawi.
Mechanics wise, well, there is the obvious: Make sure that other people around you are also leveling up the same thing. Move in with someone as soon as possible, as you get a property-owner bonus every now and then. Also, make friends. Like, traditional relationship-meter friends. The jobs require you to have some to get promoted. I am astonished that this website still exists, as I used it as a resource back in the day, but with FreeSO's arrival, the owners began to update it again. It is a great resource: http://www.tsomania.net/
So it looks like Sims 4 might be coming to XB1 https://www.trueachievements.com/n29112/the-sims-4-coming-to-xbox-one-this-november
I just want more expansion packs
I just want more expansion packs
Seriously, this. We're three years in with only three expansions, of which the last was almost a year ago, and none of which appeal to me. By this point with the Sims 3, we had World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, and Showtime out, with Supernatural having been announced and only two months away. Has Maxis/EA even confirmed what the next expansion will be, or is it still speculation between a pets and college themed expansion?
We're three years in with only three expansions
Maybe they're working on an actual game instead of... whatever kind of Facebook Online Proto Expansion The Sims 4 was.
It just kind of bothers me because Sims 4 seems like an excellent base game but unfortunately lacks any kind of content. Going back to the sims 3 is almost impossible for me because of how pieced together and slow the game is, even though it's got endless content. I probably would pick up sims 3 again but it gets so annoying when it takes an interaction menu a whole three seconds to show up sometimes.
I probably would pick up sims 3 again but it gets so annoying when it takes an interaction menu a whole three seconds to show up sometimes.
That game was so poorly designed it crumbled under the weight of it's own official content long before you even reached the end. Some mods for error control like the memory patch, Overwatch and whatnot made it playable (whereas without them it's unplayable) A shame really, the staggering amount of content + CAS made the Sims 3 a customization heaven the likes no other Sims could even come close to.
The Sims 4 has an amazing Create a Sim with fantastic facial expressions. It is so good, it is an absolute shame that the rest gets so boring, so quickly. I can't even pinpoint exactly what makes it boring to play.
A Sims 3 with 4's style and creation tools that didn't run like absolute trash would be perfect.
I'd love a Sims 3 that wasn't coded by actual idiots. No seriously there is no excuse for launching an expansion pack with a legitimately unplayable neighborhood.
