The Sims Megathread - Come on in! The house is on fire but it's ok. Have you seen my basement?
did you make those sims yourselves with or without mods? they're pretty well done which is surprising because TS2
Mods. It's the makeup layers, that make them look like the actors. All the Sims (without "realistic" makeup) look pretty much alike in the second game, which I hope TS4 is gonna change.
does sims body shop come with the complete collection on origin? It'd be fun to make some stuff for it
Some asshat with a Mohawk stole my newspaper :v:
I used to play split-screen sims 2 with my good friend (and we still do!), I really wish a more modern sims game would re-introduce that.
On the console version?

It would be so cool if we had a system like Simcity where some players join a region and each one choose a sim to represent themselves , where you could share a house with your friends
i present you, the facepunch family lot
the house with a huge roof belongs to postal, the tumblr circlejerk belongs to Anita and the basement belongs to gay jews and their kid, and the small shack with huge windows it the whole household's bathroom

I have created the alpha male, the ultimate sim. He shall set forth on a sim life, perfecting the ways of old for he is; Ugly Fucker.

I didn't know the sliders in sims 2 were this terribly flexible

I like how you can take a big dog preset like a german shepard, then switch to small dog and keep the same features, for mini german shepherds.
I never had the pets expansion before.
So, is Sims 3 University Life worth getting?
It's ok. Much better than Sims 2 University. But that's not saying much since, in my opinion, S2U wasn't very good.
Only $20 now.
I like it. It's certainly a more interactive ex pack than most of them.
Sims 2 custom content > Sims 3 custom content
The issue is I prefer Sims 3's open-worldness way more for gameplay sake. If that wasn't the case then I'd be in Sims heaven.

Honestly, Sims 3 improved on a lot of stuff from the Sims 2... the issue is the game runs like ass and is expensive as hell if you want everything.
So how do i fix those black rectangles under my sims in TS2?

Go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\Config and open the Graphics Rules.sgr file.
Then you want to find
option Shadows
setting $Low
boolProp simShadows false
boolProp objectShadows false
boolProp guob false
boolProp heightMapShadows false
setting $Medium
boolProp simShadows false
boolProp objectShadows false
boolProp guob true
boolProp heightMapShadows true
setting $High
boolProp simShadows true
boolProp objectShadows true
boolProp guob true
boolProp heightMapShadows true
See that simShadows for the $High setting? Set that to false and save.

Thanks bud, that's been really bugging me.
I'm breeding new Monets. You can see why I'm keeping them locked down in the basement...

Each one has its own fridge, bed, shower and a toilet. Oh, and the speakers broadcast classical music to help them get in the right mood.

Is there a mod for TS3 that stops the "Crying baby" moodlet from affecting the whole lot? Hilariously neglecting children isn't fun if you have to suffer consequences.
So one of my sims grew up into a teenager, the first thing she did was get on an exercise bike; the game fucked up and as soon as she was on the bike I got 8 messages in a row saying she had gained a body point, taking her up to the full 10 points.

The game runs like ass, yeah, but honestly minus the towns you don't really need any of the DLC.
You don't really need the towns either. Save for that free one (riverwiew?), I haven't bought a single one.
They're all stupidly overpriced considering there's plenty of free custom worlds.

I haven't bought any either, the two DLCs I own were given to me, but it's like only playing on gm_flatgrass forever. Eventually you might want to have a change of scenery.
True, but you can get towns with expansions that are actually worthwhile.

Kids learn fast, don't they.
Also, some pics from Mr. Banger's vacation:

It's a working marketing practice that nobody ever calls out. Brink did this shit too.

Imagine Doom is a town and Fallout is something like Seasons.
Nah, I don't mean as a bundle. I mean that some towns are just part of an expansion.
Like Pets comes with Apaloosa Plains, or Ambitions with Twinbrook.
