Any tips on how to setup Sims 2 for maximal settings on a 1920x1080 screen?

It seems.. somewhat irresponsible :v:
Just put it in the oven, that seems a better and more responsible parenting thing to do.

Give the little shit a dog bed. Pre-humans love dog beds.
I don't know about you guys but man, TS2's graphics aged well, of course they don't like as good as other games, but it looks good so far, looks exactly how I remember.
Honestly, I thought it didn't age nearly as well as I remembered :v:

Yeah, it aged so well you gotta go hacky shit to get it working properly!

Changing a True to a False and adding the maximum resolution for the game is hardly hacking it to get it to work.
The fact that it doesn't natively support 1920x1080 yet still puts the UI in the correct place when you use it shows that it has actually aged quite well. Graphically it's not much worse than Sims 3, and the faces look better if you ask me in Sims 2.
The only thing I like in the Sims 3 over Sims 2 is Sims can use stuff set at 45 degree angles

What I mean is like it doesn't look shit, it looks good, but not as good as it was back then. With a few graphic changes and changing the resolution to 1920 x 1080, adds more to it, then again I use to play TS2 on a CRT monitor.

If you look at old games from 2004, the number 1 thing you will notice besides shit textures, is the Polygons, Sims 2 however while still obvious, not that obvious...Unless I am forgetting what 2004 games look like.
Oh and the texture quality, since if you look at HL2, you can still not so good Texture Quality, while TS2 has it good.
If you go the previous page, go to the bottom and open up the pictures in a new tab, it really looks good in today's standard I guess you can say.

This should enable anti-aliasing options in-game, too. Download links at the bottom of the post
What is the difference between the standard and gold Neighborhoods, besides gold costing WAY MORE simpoints?

I think gold comes with extra shit.

Gold neighborhoods come with custom content I think, but it's never worth it.
Anyone else had trouble launching sims 2 for the first time?
All it gives me is "could not connect to servers"

Launch it from the start menu and not from Origin.
Launch it from the start menu and not from Origin.
Still gives the same error.
It seems to be a sims specific error, not an origin error, and it happens even after exiting origin

Maybe server are down
I didn't even know Sims 2 connected to the internet.
I didn't even know Sims 2 connected to the internet.
I believe it could but that was only so you could download additional content. But I believe EA took those servers down last year. It shouldn't affect launching the game though.
so when I was installing my sims 3 expansion packs I'd accidentally installed a bunch in the default folder, on my c: drive, which is an SSD. So, after spending a good while with this 10gb of space being hogged, I uninstalled and reinstalled them today.
It was even more painful than it should be because I own them all on disc (god help me), so I had to open up one case, plop the disc in the cd tray, run the installer, enter the stupid goddamn CD key for each one (9 total), make sure I chose the custom installation path, and then manually create a new folder outside of the installer for each new expansion pack (because the choose file destination button with the installer does not allow you to create a new folder, just plonk it in a precreated folder. It doesn't even put all the stuff in a folder to begin with, just puts all 5 folders which are named the same way for each expansion pack cold into the folder. If you picked a folder that already had loads of subfolders in it, you're screwed)
of course, sims 3 being what it is, turns out doing that makes the base game unhappy (something to do with the registry and I ain't touching that shit).
so, now I have to reinstall THE ENTIRE SIMS 3 COLLECTION from disc. All 32GB of the stuff.
Then, I have to redownload all my free store-'bought' content, and all my mods and custom content and holy shit am I in for one boring morning tomorrow
who knew installing and uninstalling things was so hard
You really should just register that shit on Origin because installing the Sims 3 is like *click click* and you're done, and installing an ex pack is like *click click* and you're done.

the reason I have them on discs is because I share them with my siblings and apparently they've already registered most of them on their own personal origin accounts.
I suppose I could just register the ones that they haven't and then log in to theirs for all the ones they have but still

Uhh lots of old as fuck games do that. That means almost nothing. I also like to point out that there are a number of games OLDER that Sims 2 that do natively support resolutions up to 1920x1080.

Regardless, not to be blunt and rude but his point was clearly about the graphical quality of the game. Not the technical nature of it.

I'd say that stuff ties into the graphical quality of the game.
I think something is going weird with storyprogression. I haven't talked anybody in three days, but I've become maxed out friends with them, even people I've talked to once. I also get notifications randomly about "HEY THREE PEOPLE IS A LITTLE WEIRD AT A DATE. YOU SHOULD DIAL IT BACK TO A NORMAL GROUP" while my sim is sleeping.
Made a Sim, his aspiration is to be Chief of Staff at a hospital.
