I love how smooth the CAS demo runs on my computer <3 If the game runs like this, then I will definitely buy this game.

The CAS system is the only major thing I see going for it anymore so if the demo eventually comes out for me, I'll stick with that.

Sims 3 without expansions is pretty lack luster, you need the expansions for a better experience. It's astounding that some people would actually spend $700 on it. Looks like Sims 4 is going down the same path.

The best way to buy The Sims: Wait a couple of years. Pick up Sims 4 in a multipack 'starter bundle' with 1 or 2 expansions. It will be cheaper than the launch price of Sims 4. Pick up an expansion which would've been cut in price. Get Sims 4 and 2-3 expansions for just a little more than the launch price of the base game.

The whole idea of emotions doesn't really sound like it's gonna be something that'll revolutionize the series. We've yet to really see how emotions work and change ingame properly outside of previews and they just look like simplified moodlets.
