The Sims Megathread - Come on in! The house is on fire but it's ok. Have you seen my basement?
Nope, since you get city assets in Late Night it uses those assets in building the town.
If you want a good custom neighborhood that should work with the base game and the expansions, try Old Town.
Oh wait, I had gotten Late Night mixed up with Showtime, s'all good!
[editline]25th January 2013[/editline]
Wait, Showtime IS required. FUCK.
Ah yes, just another day living as my ageless, four-star celebrity musician, master sculptor, in my favorite house I've had in the sims as of yet. Here are some pictures of my lovely abode.
The foyer, my grand entrance. One day I'll sculpt something I like enough to replace the thinker.
My living room, where I won't lie, I don't spend much time, but it is a great place for guests.
Ultra-modern dining area (complete with Branden's ability to leave dishes! Fame and fortune don't rid of laziness, as you can see)
My kitchen complete with fridge of the future and stone oven, one more level until I master cooking!
The second best area of my house (as a musician), I might get a white grand piano instead though. As I was taking this shot: *Uh oh* I heard that blasted noise when something breaks. Branden what did you break now!?
He broke the shower, left it and went to play arcade games! What a bum!
My sim in my favorite room where I sculpt. Get off that arcade system and fix the shower!
Well, lastly the bedroom (keeping consistent with the dish on the table and broken shower, an unmade bed), which I will be remodeling. Any suggestions?

That is a beautiful house, i'm terrible at designing houses.
There is a reason Bridgeport is often nicknamed "Bloatport" by various people who play it. The high rises are a nice addition and such, but they're way too close to each other and the parks in the neighborhood are pathfinding killers for the NPCs.
I recommend downloading Los Aniegos as it is a mix between Bloatport and Starlight Shores without the horrid freezing issues.
Seems more unstable for me. As soon as I loaded my family into the world Errortrap got rid of around 3000 errors. And froze about 10 minutes afterwards when I clicked my gate to set it as my front door so to speak. :suicide:
What is the best custom town? (Must have sims already in it and only require, late night ambitions and world adventuress)
So I decided to visit a community lot today and this happened.

I'm not sure I want to live here anymore.

My houses always end up being cramped as all hell, yet homely
Homeliness doesn't help when an entire house party's worth of Sims try and eat the meal at the same time, tho...
So I bought The Sims 3 with a few expansions on steam, but Seasons is not showing up in the launcher or in game. I tried verifying the game cache, but it did nothing.
Just started playing in Los Aniegos. Made my character a Film Director, first time playing Late Night can't wait.
[editline]25th January 2013[/editline]
Just realised I selected a lifetime ambition of Director, not actor. Is there anyway to change it ingame? (Midlife crisis?) Or should I just restart now.
Wow...being a music singer is the worst way to keep a high money amount
i have a teenager and a adult mom who works as a singer and jesus christ
she barely makes any money
):

MasterController can let you change lifetime wishes.

You don't really make anything until you can get a few solid gigs.
Honestly, the Showtime careers are only worth doing one run through, just to experience it. For the time it takes to succeed and actually make money, you could have made just as much in half the time with almost any other job/career.

Nvm wasn't paying attention.
jesus christ i think im startin to get addicted to mod installing.
fuck games with custom content. pretty soon my mod folder will be larger then my game directory itself.
I'm losing my mind, my person is refusing to get abducted, I have a mod that, upon the use of a telescope, the abduction chance goes to 100%. Yet nothing happens.

I have so many Nraas mods installed. I'm thinking of getting rid of a lot of them because my game takes for God damn ever to load and save.
Does anyone have a spare copy of this game for a poor and irish lad like myself? ;-;
My friend got me Sims 3 Seasons the other day and it isn't showing up on the launcher. It is grayed out and when I launch the actual game, it shows the "The Sims 3 Ambitions" loading screen, and I got that months ago.
My friends suggested some idea's and some involved registry, and it didn't work. It is annoying since I want to play seasons, can someone help me?

have you tried registering on origin and reinstaling?
have you tried registering on origin and reinstaling?
To play on origin? I don't want to, it is my last resort.
Playing the Sims brings out the worst in me.
I made two sims: a sim author/loner and a generic Mchandsome who tidies around the house, fixes broken shit and has a political career. They live in a quiet corner of the map far apart from everyone else. My intention was to quietly level up alchemy on my loner but for the most part write books in peace and quiet. McHandsome sculpts sometimes but for the most part I ignore him. He's like a butler that pays me.
Then the neighbours kept bloody visiting.
Morning, night, evening. Goddamn visitors. And they would have to be fucking fairies. If I didn't answer the door they would hang about in my backyard doing sparkly shit.
So I power leveled alchemy and turned every visitor that came into a simbot. Then I would write a new Non-Fiction novel titled something to the extent of "Robots can't feel love" and [give it to/ leave it around the house of] the victims surviving family.
I'm going to embark on a forced sims break for a while.
Is there a way to copy a house from one town to another? I made one I like in Bridgeport but it's getting super laggy and crashy.

Register and download your stuff from Origin.

I don't really want to use origin to play The Sims 3 tho, and it takes forever to download.
DAMMIT. Installed that mod which removes cars, turns out it removes every sim that is obstructed by something inside my sex dungeon got removed also.

Analysing people based on how they play the Sims should be a thing.
My happy little house is going well. Bisex painter girl paints ridiculously expensive paintings and looks for new women to fuck while raising her kid (from a male stripper), her ex-girlfriend is a sports superstar living happily with her school teacher husband (whom she stole from his gay lover- no I did not make the gay couple, they just happened) raising THEIR kid, while paparazzis stalk the house 24/7, and all this bunch lives together in a cool modern house that starts looking more and more ridiculous as more and more rooms are tacked on to it in every direction.
Also, the married couple became kung-fu experts on their honeymoon to China.
I have this Russian friend, and when we were in high school she told me about a project her little brother had going in his free time. She told me he made two families in the sims 2-- one black, one white, and allowed them to be completely autonomous.
He recorded all their doings on a comparative chart.
