I think it should be a limit of no more than 3 of the same character, and even then I think that might be too much.
All that stops is gimmick teams though. Having any limit higher than 1 isn't going to do anything to any legitimately strong comps.
Stacking is fine because it's hilariously easy to break a team that is stacking. They may be incredibly strong in one regard or two, but will absolutely be terrible in many others, which multiple characters can exploit. Like, with a group of friends and a random, we stacked Torbjorn on Anubis. The thing is that with a single Zenyatta ult and the support of a Reaper or a Pharah, they'd literally have fucked us and we'd have been able to do basically nothing about it, especially if the rest of their team pushed at the same time. It only worked because they kept playing like idiots and running in one or two at a time and did nothing to combo their abilities and ults together. A lone player who knows how to counter can utterly humiliate stacks if they're even vaguely good.

I know everyone dislikes widowmaker a lot. And maybe I'm just put against baddies. But every time I see a competent widow, I drop what I'm doing and be winston - PARTICULARLY when there is a genji or lucio on their team. Focus that widow, don't let her have a minute of rest. (Except for hanamura, then you are fucked)
With bad stacks yeah but double McCree or double Lucio + double Winston on KOTH is pretty strong.
Not really. Winston makes things tougher, but with a Pharah/Mercy combo she'll handle the light weights easily while surviving the Winstons. A Winston in return will also give them hell, especially if it's against Lucio and Winston. Roadhog can fuck up the McCree's just by keeping back a bit and slamming his flak shot, and hooking anyone who gets too close since it temporarily stuns when they are hooked. Throw in a Zarya to protect the other tank, especially against the McCrees, then bombard them with grenades. Last one could be basically anything really.
played for about 3 hours today. won 2 games. fuck force 50% bullshit. 209/204 W/L shows something is wrong with your game.
Not really.
That is the quintessential competitive KotH lineup, so yeah is it.
That is the quintessential competitive KotH lineup, so yeah is it.
Maybe trying to play to a hard-line meta is the problem. If you play games trying to adhere ultra-conservatively to what "competitive meta" says to do, then the moment you encounter someone who is good at deviating from that meta, they'll run roughshod over you. Playing to meta-breaking is so much more fun and dynamic than playing to the meta, and you can fuck up competitive teams by throwing them out of their meta-comfort zone.

Sure, Overwatch is all about A counters B counters C but the meta is strong for a reason, either strategically or simply because the numbers are better. Numbers aren't the case for the triple duo lineup, so there is some nuance in knowing and executing, but it's still the best strategy.
Started playing just tonight and was having a ton of fun! Gotta say though, had a ton of fun with Torbjorn, Junkrat and Mercy, but I'm awful with Widowmaker, Tracer and Hanzo. Also, I see what everyone means; McCree is toxic in this game at the moment. Went a match as Tracer getting stomped by a Stun>Fan hammer McCree and it was all he did that game. Literally nothing you can do since the stun lasts forever, you just die. If he missed the stun, he'd just fan hammer>roll>fan hammer and you were dead anyway. Was the worse match I've ever played and we still won. He even got play of the game for, guess what, stun>fan-kill->roll>fan-kill->high noon-kill/kill-
how often does master overwatch update? Hasn't updated for awhile and I'm waiting for my inevitable below 50% winrate

That is what makes meta-breaking so good and fun, it throws the existing meta into disarray, is forces teams to adapt to something they don't predict. When you play to what the meta says, you're predictable. Very predictable in fact. That's entirely what the system is about, predictability, it's very existence necessitates predictability. If things aren't predictable, the meta doesn't exist. So if a team is playing to the meta and runs in to something it doesn't predict, the system collapses. It doesn't matter how good the meta says they should be because it expects one thing and instead it is getting something unpredicted. It's impossible for the system to keep working as intended at that point because the system literally depends on conditions that are predictable.

Absolutely zero fun to play against.
McCree is supposed to hard counter Tracer but he's still possible to deal with. Dodge the flash with blinks/recall and abuse the fact that he has to commit to his fans by blinking out of range when he starts or blinking around/behind him (if he isn't able to track you). EDIT: Also most McCrees will predictably flashbang as soon as they see you

It feels good to get 5 games in a row without a McCree or a Widowmaker on either team
It feels good to get 5 games in a row without a McCree or a Widowmaker on either team
Tell me your fucking secrets, now.
Today were one of those days: Starts with a long losing streak of bad matches, things start to become better and eventually win and level up, but the last match was probably the worst one. 3 players joined our team and they did nothing, on purpose! They went healer or some random class, they were standing around rarely doing something, sometimes just jump off a ledge and suicide, the match only lasted a few minutes thankfully. And as usual, I open the loot box and I get 2 duplicated items adding a mere coins to the collection.
I've been in a 15 losses streak already for having incompetent teammates who go double genjis most of the time, and 40-level higher opponent team. No idea how one can go out and say this matchmaking mechanic is good enough.
Are you on Asia or Americas? You could try switching server if the ping isn't too bad.
can there just be a way to opt out of games in progress? 5 games in a row now where its the end of a match (like 10-20 seconds to go) and it put me in to fill a spot on the losing team. i bought a video game to play it, and id like to actually, you know, play it. i dont care about the "free EXP", i wanna actually fucking play, not walk out of spawn and lose
Are you on Asia or Americas? You could try switching server if the ping isn't too bad.
My ISP just fuck me up with unstable connection and 200ms ping on Americas, even though Singapore is just some few hundred kilometers away. So now I'm stuck with Chineses and Koreans who barely understand English at all.
