Overwatch - Scientists baffled by team's ability to fuck up every time

My lootboxes keep giving me shit for Zenyatta when all I want are coin drops for fuck sakes
I have like 7 or 8 items for Zenyatta but I've logged absolutely no play time in with him
I think the game is trying to crush my dream of getting Pharah's Mechaqueen skin and instead is trying to get me to play a character who falls apart at a light breeze
I managed to do this last night, which was such a tempo swing we ended up winning.

You're welcome, Novangel
look at this fkn scrub dying and shit
do you see me dying in that clip? I thought not
420, it's not that nuts
420 is still nuts dude, Tanks have 500hp except for Roadhog who has 600, 420 is enough to get them to near death in which case a roll + Fan is certain death.
So I'm playing in a PUG tournament right now and, despite a pretty bad loss, the caster gave me a shoutout for my Winston play. Feels good.
I haven't been following the devs, has anything been said if Symmetra's gun being powered up by Mei's shield is a bug or not? If the Mercy getting ulti from shields it would make sense to me.

I try, and I get the mechanics of greater damage blocked = greater damage output, but without a clear visual indicator, I never seem to know if I'm actually doing well or not.
Love it when a guy plays Zanyatta and basically doesn't do shit, ask him if he'll swap to a dedicated healer to be actually useful.

Mkay.
I need a Louise Belcher themed d.va skin

The orb thingy in your gun grows with charge plus there is a number that shows your charge right next to the crosshair.

Zenyatta is good as a defensive healer imo. You can hang back behind the point or payload and throw heals out to your teammates as they need them and then throw your discord orb out and shoot at enemies as they come onto the point. Then if the enemy makes a big push, pop Transcendence to counter it.
"We're supposed to defend this specific payload on a map full of flank routes? Lets all push up, surely nobody will flank, get behind us, and then push the payload uncontested. Surely." - Every team on payload defense

I played as him earlier this evening and I was really surprised with how effective he can be offensively. If you stick around teammates and avoid the crossfire, the charged attack can wreak havoc on unsuspecting or pre-occupied enemies. In the game in question I was tearing through their Roadhog like wet tissue. The discord orb is also good for painting priority targets for your team to take down while the harmony orb helps keep a key hero alive like the Reinhardt leading a push or the Mercy keeping everyone else healthy.
In a sense, Zenyatta is less of a passive support guy and more of a cerebral tactician directing everybody from a safe location.
I need to practice Genji more, he looks like one of the funnest hero's to play, but I just suck at him when it comes to timing deflects and not overextending etc.

Asking other pubs to change class or, "to be actually useful" in a pub games is just asking for trouble. It rarely works out.
I'm not usually a petty man but if someone gives me shit while I'm playing a support class I'm not going to change for them.
when you avoid backtracking onto your own ult by a milisec and everythin works out
(sry about the music audio didn't record for some reason)

He's awesome and he does sick heals and damage as long as no one breathes on him.

unfortunately zenyatta's ult does jack shit to certain ults like junkrat's
yeah, what's the deal with zenyatta? he seems basically identical to Mercy except his ulti's kinda meh and he can only amp damage vs single targets as opposed to amping an ultiing pharah or similar.

also i retract my previous statement about Tracer's ulti being bad, it's decent considering the mechanics of the hero

He's very different from Mercy. Mercy is slightly squishy healer, with no way to defend herself effectively; Zenyatta is an extremely squishy (though most of his health regenerates after a bit) glass cannon with a decent heal that doesn't require him to put himself in danger. Those balls hurt.
Zenyatta is about murdering enemy tanks as much as healing. Mercy is a purist healer class.
also also do NOT diss zenyatta's ult
it messes up enemy ults and is basically invulnerability for all nearby teammates which is great for pushing or holding a point
I bound 76's primary fire's secondary keybind to mousewheel-down
It lets me do a sort of alternate fire that's fully accurate, but fires more slowly. Works well at long range, but just shooting normally is better in medium/close range.

The guy wasn't doing jack though, he was constantly trying to glass cannon a widow and losing, he refused to actually try to heal people and kept going off 1v1ing the other team.
I understand he can be useful but when its played by someone who thinks they can use him like they think they can use the awp in cs its annoying, he wasn't exactly helping anyone on the team and even him playing as lucio would have been better.
legit curious but what situations is zenyatta's ult better than lucio's? junkrat tire will still insta-kill allies within zenyatta's range, but im pretty sure lucio's overheal will save them, for example

He can only amp damage against one enemy but everyone on your team does increased damage against that one enemy, as opposed to mercy where only one teammate gets boosted damaged.

I'm kinda vain and always hope I get caught doing well in someone's stream.

You get more effective HP from Zenyatta's ult, Lucio is 500 overhealed HP to everyone that decays over 6 seconds while Zenyatta's is 180 hp/s over 6 seconds for a total of 1080. Against sustained damage (76 ult, roadhog ult, general teamfights) Zenyatta's will generally be more effective.
There's also how Zenyatta's ult pops instantly whereas Lucio must hit the ground (so it is delayed and can be interrupted) for his ult to go off.

It was an ocean of scrap near the end.

This is why I like Zenyatta and even Lucio better than Mercy. When I play them I can heal AND do damage AND (in the case of Lucio) stay on the point and push it. Also like someone said earlier, the discord orb is great at tagging targets for team mates. I just hate how passive Mercy feels, though I acknowledge how good the rez is
