Don't bother defending unless you're bored or trying for TDM rank or something. Just do expeditions instead.
The thing is expeditions get your rank up too, so there's really no need to defend your base. TDM is basically a quick way of getting a few thousand SPLithium for upgrading your base right now. Except when you run into the guy who has a level 70+ character there to one shot lower level characters.
Okay so fucking, what exactly are the requirements for Armor Limit #001? I've done it twice now and it hasn't worked either time. Like, it says "climb from IKEGARA to IMOKAWA-CHO with no armor, defeating all enemies," which I do just fine, but I don't get the quest completion. Basically: do I have to go through IMOKAWA-CHO and when I get done with it can I not use the elevator to get back? I'm tired of running around with a throwaway character wearing no armor while my main sits in storage

Apparently many of these challenge quests are bugged though, might be causing issues. It did take me like 3 tries to do it, I'm not bothering with the other challenge quests yet, plenty of other stuff to do first, like just climb the tower.
The quests aren't 'bugged', it's just that they're not very well thought out. You have to personally kill every enemy on the starting floor AND the ending floor (and any floors in between if that's ever a thing) and if a hater kills ANYBODY you are fucked. You basically have to do the quest perfectly and hope the haters spawn away from all the other enemies. It's not worth bothering with until they make it so hater kills don't count against you.

It still requires no intervention from the Haters, but at least you can just go back and forth between floors to get it.

I literally cannot finish Armor Limit #001 (climb from IKEGARA to IMOKAWA-CHO with no armor, defeating all enemies) and I've tried like three times. Fuck it. I should probably wait for that change too. Can you cancel quests?
Yes, if you go back to the Hater Arcade you can select the quest again to cancel it.
OK good. It's stupid but I've actually lost a bit of steam with this game, I've defeated the first midboss(?) [sp]Coen[/sp] three times now in a bid to do side quests and stuff but I guess I should just press on as far as I can then go back and complete the side quests when I want to level up 'new' fighters? I guess I've been using the quests as a way to guide myself but they only unlock for a certain area after you've completed it right?
Is there any kind of fighter I should prefer/avoid?
Is there any kind of fighter I should prefer/avoid?
I've been sticking with the Striker type. Those seem to be pretty good.
Is there any kind of fighter I should prefer/avoid?
Striker seems like the best class so far. Not sure about Shooter but the guns deal some really hefty damage so I'd assume at max masteries for firearms and a grade 3+ shooter, you'd be hitting pretty damn hard.

One-shotting Haters is insanely satisfying. But watch out, they have TERRIBLE HP growth.
Is there any kind of fighter I should prefer/avoid?
Avoid attacker, prefer striker until rank 4, then choose between either shooter or striker
Collector for death bag space.
Collector for death bag space.
Especially if you're grinding for materials.
Whats the max grade fighter available? Really annoying that I need to level from 1 to MAX every time instead of being able to upgrade my lower grade fighters...
Whats the max grade fighter available? Really annoying that I need to level from 1 to MAX every time instead of being able to upgrade my lower grade fighters...
Grade 5, unlocks at floor 35
Holy shit the [sp]DUKE-02 Sniper Rifle[/sp] pierces targets. A whole bunch of Scratch Tubers were lined up and the shot killed 4/6 of them. It was beautiful.
Just started this game and damn it's a blast. I got to floor two, and met two other new players who I beat with no prob, but then when I decided to back track to the elevator to make sure I didn't lose all my stuff, I get butt fucked by a level 27 character. I'm still not really clear on how mushrooms, cooking, and healing work yet. And this might sound silly but how do I switch through my selected mushrooms? Any tips would be appreciated.

Fuck me for saying it but without Jackals, the game feels way less tense. You still have Haters i guess.
Hope they don't nerf them or anything.

Any tips would be appreciated.
The people with the orange names, the "other new players", are called Haters. They're NPCs of other player characters, other people can see yours too. If you see a red name that's a Hunter, they're exactly the same as Haters but someone explicitly sent it to attack you. You can do this too eventually. Quick guide on mushrooms, beasts, and cooking: -Beasts are any and all animals found in the tower, the usually provide some healing when eaten raw, and double when cooked. If you kill a beast they will instead sprout a mushroom, the effect of which depends on the beast killed. When you pick up a beast you can eat it immediately or store it for later, when it's in your inventory you can see the effect it will have when eaten. Experiment with eating and smashing the beasts you find in the tower. -Mushrooms are the most useful resource at your disposal if used right. Some provide healing, while others provide buffs, and others still are used as weapons to damage or debilitate your foes. Eating any mushroom (except ones which hurt you) will provide a very small amount of HP. As with beasts cooking a mushroom will usually double the effect it has, you can also stack effect duration by eating multiple mushrooms in a row. Without mushrooms there is no glory, there is no love. -Cooking! Cooking is always beneficial. It increases the effectiveness of your edibles in almost all circumstances, either the strength and the duration of the effects, or both. Why eat a 50% damage buff for 30 seconds when you could have it for 40 seconds? Cooking also increases the potency of your offensive mushrooms, turn a Boomshroom from a 240 damage bomb into a 300 damage bomb. -Another tip is health regeneration. You health regenerates slowly over time, however you will eventually go hungry and require some food for the health regeneration to continue. If you notice your health isn't regenerating, or you hear your stomach grumble, you should eat something. Don't worry though, you can't starve. -You also get a small amount of XP when you eat anything (even Boomshrooms and the like) and when you kill a beast. If you ever find a golden beast DO NOT EAT IT unless you absolutely have to. Golden beasts give you a ton of XP, and they have unique mushrooms which have very powerful effects. Though they also heal a lot of health, if you're in dire need. I recommend saving them for leveling higher grade characters. -What's a higher grade character? Well, you're just going to have to keep climbing the tower to find out, Senpai! [editline]19th December 2016[/editline]
Hope they don't nerf them or anything.
I doubt they will, they were removed because it was too easy to cheese them (as shown in the Linda the Legend stream). If anything the Jackals will be even tougher when they come back.

It's boring too but if you're ever unsure about a game mechanic, read the tutorial messages in your diary thing, and check the FAQ on the official website.
I wish there was a shuffle option for the radio in-game.
It would be pretty funny if when you try to run back to the elevator, they kill the elevator lady.
Fine by me, I'm an asshole who doesn't plan on buying any express passes and I use the shitty lame elevator.
I wish there was a shuffle option for the radio in-game.
There is. Channel 001 on the radio is shuffle, channel 000 is [del]every song in order[/del]5 songs on repeat, apparently. Which makes it kind of useless.
Has anyone figured out how Armor Limit quest works? I've tried to do it multiple times and it didn't register completing at all.
