Shorty/Seclusion
I might start playing on Mythmoor on Northlands. Anyone want to join?
Wurm Unlimited is 8 dollars right now
Wurm is now just $1 (or more if you want) on Humble Bundle. If you were ever going to get it, now's the time.
So who's playing Unlimited and where? I might check this thing out since normal Wurm was way too grindy.
just nabbed unlimited, ill be down to hop in and help out soon
Yeah me too, feel free to add me to steam so i can actually notice people are playing
i'd love to play unlimited but i don't have the sheer amount of time required to actually experience and enjoy the game fully.
are there servers out there that increase exp rates or whatever else, so people can play solo and build relatively quickly? i just want to have a little homestead by myself and do farming and stuff without needing to devote hours for it. i remember way back when unlimited first came out, i joined a village and it took me a solid two hours just building a hand cart, cause i had to do everything and it all took so long.
I am back on Wyvern reborn where it all started. I have a decent char there and skillgain and timers are relatively quick. It has a bunch of fun mods, tweaks and new creatures. It has decent pop, around 30 average which isn't too bad.
Like for example, you can also teleport to the spawn from anywhere, teleport to the pvp server and back and more.
If anyone wants to join me, contact atazs ingame.

The whole game is a timesink. You can only enjoy and experience the game if you spend time on it.
I mean sure you might enjoy logging in for only a few hours each day but you won't get much done.
That being said, there are a lot of servers where there is really high skillgain and timers and overpowered stuff, but i don't find them fun
Most servers have around 5-10x skillgain and timers, nowhere near as slow as Wurm Online, but fast enough so that you can get high skills quick if you grind a lot and know how to.
Also, Wurm Unlimited is on Humble Bundle right now. Considering you'll likely play it for atleast 100 hours when you get hooked, it might be a nice investment of your $1.

Got to be the best $1 I ever spent, I normally don't like MMO games but this is really quite good.

this is some ass-backwards logic, man. i've got uni and a social life to contend with, i can't devote hours at a time to sit on wurm, and only playing for an hour or two every few days would mean it'd take me months to accomplish anything meaningful.
i've looked into it further and like you said, there are servers with high skillgain and timers, that suits me perfectly. i can play for whatever small amount of time i have spare and still get an enjoyable amount done.

I agree with what he's saying as long as the context is meant to apply to the original servers - it literally isn't something you can play casually considering you can (IIRC) starve while you're logged out

You wont drain while logged out, but say an hour a week is needed to reverse the decay that has happened that week as the owner of a normal non-deeded complex (boat/carts/walls/containers).
Personally, unlimited and the changed timers devalues what is done in the official servers, but it also opens up the game to a lot more people.
I think the changed timers allow people to focus more on having fun and less on grinding numbers.
It's still far from what I would call a casual game, though.

I appreciate the timing in Wurm because if you see a small settlement you know that it took a small amount of people a lot of effort or a very large group of people convened to help. Having structures means value, and even a tiny cabin is impressive.
On the other hand I personally just can't stand the grind of it taking 5 hours to build a wooden wall. I also never have had premium before so I always hit the very early skillcap

Hence it takes you that long to do stuff lol
Definitely trying it out this time. Which server is everyone playing at?
I'm on Wyvern reborn, Kingarthias who is also from around here is also on Wyvern and Amic is on Sklotopolis but might come here
That's all the people i know who plays
Trying out Wyvern Reborn, the skills seem to go up a bit slow, but the fact that you get silver from killing creatures is kinda neat.
Most if not all WU servers have that
Is there a discord or anything setup for those of you playing?

nvm wurm unlimited is garbage im just gonna bite the bullet and play the real game, call me weird but if there's no risk of other players at all in the game that's really fucking dissapointing. Combined with the seriously lacking playerbase, I don't get what the point of unlimited is unless you want a cozy spreadsheet simulator to play alone

I'm not sure where you got the idea that it's lacking player base, I'm in a village of around 8 people and the server I'm currently playing on typically has over 200 players, that's nearly double the amount of players compared to any single wurm online server at the moment.

Getting mixed messages on whether or not I should pick up unlimited.
I mean I'm on xanadu right now and there was like 200 people on earlier, it just feels more alive? I don't know it just feels sterile compared to Online

Once Wurm Unlimited came out, I switched over and never looked back. I really don't see the appeal of the official server. The official maps are ass, the moderation team is ass, the grind is ass. Everything is ass.

Those were not people, those were husks. They sit in their manors and pilot their caravels to avoid the truth that is their fate. They have spent their lives toiling for nothing, the memories they enjoyed building that world are years faded. They paid to be slaves, to be addicts, to have something to show for their time. They mimic the living to draw them in, for each new husk among the ruins, among the flotsam, is a strike against the truth, that they are already dead.
This selfishness is the failure of man. Only through comradery and crusade are we brought higher.
Plus online is slow as ass.
So got to Wyvern Arena yesterday. Fighting skill goes up blazing fast while killing mobs there. Tried to capture some depots as well though didn't manage to get close to one in time.
