Actually, she wore a thick, orange jacket and long, white camo pants in the icy levels. :eng101:
I think he was talking about this: Probably not a good idea to wear shorts when you're in the snowy Tibetan hills.
That, applied to a DIRT game, could make it look like a seriously cool Group B rally video.
Do it!! Fuck up the audio while you're at it.
First 5 are my favorites in general aesthetic/theme. Say what you want about the gameplay, but as far as visual and audio design, CORE knew what they were doing.
While I enjoyed all of those, with the older game controls I don't think I'll ever replay those games. But I still remember playing Tomb Raider Anniversary non-stop and loving it to the point I replayed it 3 times over. The reboots are awesome but I honestly wish they would've made a reboot with the past games settings. I really miss the Ancient Egyptian/Aztecan settings of the franchise and the good mix of supernatural stuff with those regular human enemies.
The new Tomb Raiders are faaaaaar more playable than the first few. Even back when they were released, they were extremely clunky and hard to control. I can see why people would remember them fondly because of what they were about, but as far as playing them goes, they were never that good. And AoD is still by far the worst one out of all of them.
i think when they came out nobody cared about the controls because EVERY game at that time essentially played with the same scheme and style. especially eidos games. in the mid 90s nobody strafed. they'd use the keyboard to move left and right because the mouse was just too weird. because of that most games followed a really basic rule of requiring players to use arrow keys to move the character and the enter, control, shift, etc keys to manipulate the world that being said, just because you have fond memories of a game doesn't mean it's aged very well

There was no guarantee that people would be able to even play your game if it required analogue control, and games that attempted to implement both play badly either way. These days you'd never think to have a button dedicated to taking a small hop backward, but in Tomb Raider it was an essential feature. The modern games don't need it because turning around is almost instant, though I think it'd be cool if they brought it back and had it on the same button as the dodge on controllers.

[t]http://i.imgur.com/j8jp8u8.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/jLfGvMV.jpg[/t] Rise Of The Tomb Raider
Rise of the Tomb Raider is as bad as I thought it would be. Genuinely good gameplay features and situations cannot save it from story's impotency (no better word for it), blatant self-copypaste and general autism which creates a strange dissonance - on one hand story itself is a classic situation 'Mama, why they making the fool out of themselves but the one who's ashamed is me?' on the other in-game lore (documents, trinkets and puzzle pieces) is meticulously crafted and well written. Who's to blame? Rhianna Pratchett, who continues to turn to shit every game she touches with her script? Or is it the game designers who didn't even bother to try and make synergy with game story? [del]it's pratchett ofc lel, throw more shit at her[/del] I'd say everyone fucked up, but who did it more it's hard to tell. [sp]IT'S FUCKING PRATCHETT OF COURSE, WHY THE FUCK THEY DIDN'T FIRE HER YET?![/sp] Verdict: Better buy Uncharted.

Just FYI, I consider "Rise" to be superior in (almost)every aspect to previous game except story. It's just story in this game is the central and most critical part and it fails to deliver (and you know where this leads). Not only it's not better than the previous one, in some cases it manages to hit a new low and that's saying something. Disregarding parts where I was genuinely offended (something that VERY RARELY happens) but I let that slide (because why those pesky Englanders should care about some grim and bad murdering ruskies nobody likes?) the setting as a whole really works. It's interesting to explore and search for clues as to what exactly happened here and such.
