Doesn't seem like it spends a lot of samples on the DoF in the photo mode I wish games with photo modes wouldn't limit their sampling. They should just keep sampling to ridiculous levels (until you stop it), because sometimes 32 or 64 samples just isn't enough. [editline]7th May 2016[/editline] I wonder if they keep the sampling pattern consistent or if it's random. If it's random, you could take like ~10 screenshots and combine them in Photoshop or something for better looking DoF and motion blur. Welp, I know what I'm gonna be trying.
SOMA (PC) It's kinda sad that even this game doesn't capture what made Frictional Games' Amnesia: The dark descent so great SOMA is outright boring me: it's basically a walking simulator (instead of a horror videogame) with an interesting theme, but pretty much nothing else. And there's nothing more depressing than having monsters encounters that don't fit in the general story at all where: 1) You immediately know there is a monster around 2) More often than not, there's just one of them I'll see if I'll find the will to finish it later
It wasn't as good as Amnesia, but it still was my favorite game story-wise last year.

Rather take a fucking great story over them just doing another Amnesia.
I enjoyed Penumbra the most. After that they were just recreating the same game in different environments. SOMA just didn't keep my attention, couldn't really get into it. Same goes for Amnesia.

I think soma excels in that category and does a great job at keeping it interactive too, and is spooky enough to be considered horror. Definitely wrong to call it "survival" though. "Walking Simulator" implies there's a serious lack of game mechanics. Stealth and not dying are pretty important in soma.
SOMA only came out last year but it's easily in my top 5 games of all time. The ending (including the post credits stuff) hit me like a bus, for a while I was just sitting there going "holy shit", not even sure what to feel. Depressing is not a strong enough word to describe it.

[sp]I'd argue it borders on exploring post-human existence in a certain way.[/sp]
Soma constantly annoyed me because Simon was so stupid that he had the concept of what was going on explained to him something like 3 times before he finally got it at the end.

Made my first SweetFX preset in an attempt to rid Deadly Premonition of its desaturation problem. I think it turned out pretty well. No Sweetfx: [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/WhClv7U.png[/IMG_thumb] SweetFX Preset: [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/HiSa01T.png[/IMG_thumb]
Personally I'd prefer something like this: [thumb]http://puu.sh/oMaiw.jpg[/thumb]
Personally I'd prefer something like this: [thumb]http://puu.sh/oMaiw.jpg[/thumb]
That does look closer to the 360 original. My preset looks a bit dark inside but outside is bordering on too bright so I don't really want to make it any brighter. I'll mess around with the settings some more later though, for the most part my entire experience modding this game has been trial and error so there's probably a way to make interiors look better without ruining exteriors. yeah ok it looks a lot better in those
yeah ok it looks a lot better in those
Yeah, I didn't really choose the best picture. It's just one of the better screenshots to showcase the difference in skin tone (which was my main focus as all the other DP presets only slightly improve the zombie skin) Here's an album with a few more indoor shots: http://imgur.com/a/YSCb6
