Is that a fucking Dracula castle? I don't have either DLC despite loving the game and having had the money on several occasions. I'm also about to leave for two weeks on Wednesday. But if that is a Dracula castle, I absolutely have to get this as soon as I return.

If you don't quickly start locking down Xenon gates into civilized space in X3 AP. specifically the XRM mod (plus a few extras), then shit gets stomped. Since I started as Terran, it took me a while before I got to this particular system, which tends to suffer the absolute worst. I hope that the AI will automatically go back to rebuild systems, so there'll be some point in me reclaiming it with a better fleet in the future.

Like a game that is tongue in cheek and doesn't take itself seriously that would be fine, or sometimes you can mix that kind of stuff cleverly into a serious game (like how in wolf TNO the cutscenes actually reflect how much punishment you can take during gameplay) but unless there's a bigger context here we are missing, it doesn't seem like either of those things are the case for this game.

It's a horror game that adheres to slasher movie rules AKA barely any whatsoever. Like this game is directly targeted towards slasher fans who generally have a much easier time suspending their disbelief.

Why are you looking for context in a multiplayer slasher-movie wannabe? That's kinda the point of the cheesy slasher movies, there isn't much context. The game doesn't treat itself seriously at all.. it's very self aware in that aspect. You can easily suspend your belief by thinking along the lines of the slasher has hung someone up like that as bait - just like in the films. It doesn't ruin the immersion for me but hey, each to their own.
By the way, the hooks go through the people's shoulders, not necks. The reason it looks like the neck in the video is because of the lifting animation shifting the model about, I think.

My point was it doesn't make much ~realistic~ sense, sure. But it makes total sense in the gameplay standpoint. It's a lot of fun as the slasher to bait others into trying to save a teammate, and it's a lot of fun as a survivor trying to work out on the fly if it is worth trying to save them or just get away yourself. It also stops the slasher from camping at objective points.
I didn't even know it was a multiplayer game, that was the first I've seen or heard of it.
