depending on what you're expecting it could be either. hype really killed the game, it's a very minimalist space exploration game with an unfittingly complex crafting system. there's also some performance issues which i'm sure will be fixed relatively soon.
if you were expecting a game like elite dangerous or star citizen then you'll be disappointed. if you were expecting to play the game with friends then mathematically speaking you should be disappointed (18 quintillion planets, no means of going directly to where your friends are)
it's a very pretty game with fancy rng mechanics and enough exploration and variance to make a 100% TAS last roughly 584 billion years.

Yes it is a (IMHO) a fantastic game and I feel it was advertised exactly how it should've been.
People don't seem to realise that this is an indie game, Sony are only involved with the PS4 release.
For a team of ~10 people creating it, it's amazing.
If you enjoy exploration, laid back / relaxing gameplay, then this is for you.
The combat is very basic, space flight is arcadey but other than that I think it is an amazing game.

And this is coming from someone that thought the game was going to be a failure, Once I realised it wasn't going to be Star Citizen, Elite or AAA style game play I was able to have shit loads of fun.

I don't think it is. Though, the game is rife with aliasing even at 4K. Most of my screenshots are grabbed at 5160x2160, which gets me about 35 FPS. I tried playing at 3440x1440 but the aliasing was nuts.

There's an issue with the pc version where the render resolution is quite lower than the screen resolution. Solved it myself by enabling DSR with nvidia. There are people reporting that they don't have the problem though.
