Mount and Blade: Napoleonic Wars is an incredible thing.
The new Tomb Raiders are faaaaaar more playable than the first few. Even back when they were released, they were extremely clunky and hard to control. I can see why people would remember them fondly because of what they were about, but as far as playing them goes, they were never that good. And AoD is still by far the worst one out of all of them.
The gameplay in the older Tomb Raider games is amazing. I still don't get how people can have problems with the controls, at least once you get through the first levels / play Croft Manor a bit. The games used to be all about lining up perfect jumps and learning the distances, solving puzzles and fighting the occasional bad guy. Even though enemies got much more frequent from TR2 on wards, it was never all about combat. Managing to do a complex jump sequence without falling into spikes/lava/anything was way more satisfying than anything the newer games threw at me so far. Tomb Raider games lost their character, cause they made them play like every other game out there.
Honestly, I might be able to buy this reboot if Lara was written better. I dunno what is the cause of de-sync between script and game designers (probably Pratchett lel) but if you gonna tell me that Lara Croft is a fragile, naive girl stranded on ass-end of the world don't have her at any point of the game running around with AKM gunning down people left and right and still her acting like 'oh no im so innocent and defenseless wah-wah' without proper justification because there was none.
[T]http://i.imgur.com/nLmr4Tm.jpg[/T]
I'll give that the gameplay on itself is pretty solid. It's okay. But they (gameplay and story) DO NOT MATCH and this critical flaw makes everything fall apart.
Oh and Lara's actions and her in-game justification are double-facepalm worthy. Literally 'just because'.

Oh yeah, no, having the slowest tank controls in existence (Lara turns slower than fucking Resident Evil) for a game that requires precision platforming is totally not clunky or anything.
They are no far too action oriented, and they lack actually fun/challenging puzzles or little secrets.
The hidden room in croft manor is a difficult one to get into.

Yea this was something I hated about the new game(s), the originals didn't need bullshit tropes of "thrown into unknown life threatening situation, zero to hero in no time at all".

Far Cry 3 did that trope amazingly I must add. And also the consequences of that trope.

Long story short:
I liked Lara Croft more when she and Duke Nukem were a thing. (Fuck I am old)

I guess I stand corrected? I played AoD recently and that actually had slower turning than that. Still, tank controls for a game that needs very precise platforming is a stupid idea. I still don't get why they didn't make it control more like every other 3d platformer.

What kind of 3d platformers were around in 1996?
I think tank controls allow for way more precise jumping. It allows to align yourself properly in relation to the game world, accidental motions are way harder to do and many people (including me) enjoy the slower gaming pace it creates.
[editline]29th January 2016[/editline]
Also, despite tank controls Lara can move pretty damn fluidly if you know the controls. Way more so than Resident Evil.

I'm more talking about the ones past TR1. With TR1, yeah, it's kind of excusable cause it was early 3d, but all the way up to Legend, they did almost no changes at all to the gameplay to make it control better, AoD was almost clunkier to control than the earlier ones.

So she's on a snowy mountain in a t-shirt, being all casual. Hypothermia does not exist in that world.

That's a custom costume.

Dude, remember TR3? Short shorts in the same setting. Saw nobody comment on that back then..
That's a custom costume.
You can buy this one in-game from a mercenary in Siberia, it provides health bonus so there's no reason not to wear it from gameplay sense. Why it's sleeveless though, I have no idea.
And costumes aside, have you ever been to Russian wilderness during winter WITHOUT HEADWEAR?

First 5 are my favorites in general aesthetic/theme. Say what you want about the gameplay, but as far as visual and audio design, CORE knew what they were doing.

Also apparently even translators didn't care as well.
This shit literally says "(Labor)camp prisoner's ID card" - while actual card's texture itself says that it's a NKVD's officer ID papers from South Ukraine (Nikolaevskaya Oblast as it were in Ukrainian Soviet Socialistic Republic) :v:

I'm tempted to purchase it to this very day
One mo, not seen is me evading 8 medium range missiles for 2 minutes

Experimenting with camera angles and cutting still..
Oh and my wingman wouldn't shut up so I had to insert all the sounds myself in this entire clip.
[sp]I know an onboard camera shouldnt be able to black out, just pretend its Russkie media trying to immerse the viewer or something[/sp]
First 5 are my favorites in general aesthetic/theme. Say what you want about the gameplay, but as far as visual and audio design, CORE knew what they were doing.
Oh yeah, I'm not arguing that, the places you go and stuff you do in those games is still really cool.
Is it possible to make the wing camera less stable?
And I think the previous cockpit angle was better, the placement in that video makes me think it should be mounted on the helmet of the pilot, but it doesn't do any movement. It makes more to place it the way it was before, like it's clipped on somewhere.
Also, if the wingman chatter is in Russian, it'd be nice to keep.
Is it possible to make the wing camera less stable?
Mmm why? So it'll be like air busting up against it?
Agreed on the other points by the way :D
I'm not an expert, but I don't think you could mount a camera on a jet and have it so stable.

There was no internet when I was playing TR3.
because I have no imagination I tried the thing that arthuro12 did instead of doing something else
not as good but eh

game is spintires
That, applied to a DIRT game, could make it look like a seriously cool Group B rally video.
