Now what is Halo you ask?
Halo is a game series started in the late 90s by Bungie LLC. Originally conceived as a strategy game for the Mac, Halo was turned to an FPS when Microsoft bought out Bungie in 1999.
Halo was announced as a flagship title for the upcoming Xbox, beginning the series.

Halo's heart is in it's rich story. So, as such, it needs quick summation. Halo takes place primarily between the years of 2552-2554, following Master Chief Petty Officer John-117,
and his AI companion, Cortana. Introduced in the second game was The Arbiter, also known as Thel 'Vadam, a Covenant Elite who was exiled for his loss of the Halo in the first game.
Long story short, an alien parasite known as the Flood was invading the galaxy a few million years ago, and after a long and costly war, the Forerunner race, the dominant species in
the Milky Way, created the Halo Array and the Shield System(AKA, the Sword and Shield). The Halo Array was a series of super weapons that could be individually fired or triggered
from The Ark, a salvation and control station outside our galaxy. The Forerunner were doomed, and, unable to flee into their shield worlds, was forced to trigger the Halos in order
to save the rest of the galaxy.
All life was extinguished, starving the parasitic Flood(also killing a great amount of them) and driving them to extinction in the Milky Way. In the 2500s, humanity has reached the stars,
and is now in the midst of a situation resembling Warhammer 40k. There are massive insurrections in the UNSC and many colony worlds have seceded from the main empire. In 2525,
this is made worse by the arrival of The Covenant, a conglomerate of alien species who see humanity as a threat to their religious salvation, and seek nothing but the total and utter
annihilation of man. Prior to this, the Spartan Program was created to quell the insurrection, as main UNSC forces were too little. John, AKA the Master Chief, was the most promising
candidate, and became the leader of the primary squad, Blue Team. So now the stage is set, the Halos are out there, somewhere, the Spartans have been deployed numerous times
against the Covenant and the games are soon to come. Read more at the Halo Wiki or play the games, and read the books.

Halo Wars takes place in 2531, and is a deviation from the Halo series as it's an RTS. The game's biggest downfall is being an RTS released as a console exclusive.
It's an extremely competent strategy game, and plays very smoothly. But, it also lacks a lot of depth you've come to expect from the RTS genre, and the plot feels a little cliche at times.
It's a solid game though.

Reach takes place in September 2552, around a month before Halo 1, during the Fall of Reach. You play a Spartan III, a somewhat lower form of Spartan II(like the Chief). Your
spartan and his squad are one of the few Spartan forces on the ground on Reach, and may be all that stands between the Covenant and whatever awesome plot device that
Bungie decides to pull out. Other than that, feel free to post plot details . The multiplayer beta ran in May 2010, and featured multiple game types, a preview of the armor
customization and a snippet of the weapons and maps available in the final game. Halo Reach marks the end of Bungie's development of the series.

Halo was the first game in the series. Named after the main setting of the game, Installation 04("Halo"), the game features the first appearance of the Master Chief and Cortana.
Beginning in 2552, it starts after the Fall of Reach(see: Halo Reach). The UNSC Pillar of Autumn, running from the Covenant assault on the fortress world of Reach, and carrying
the Master Chief, is under the Cole Protocol which prevents them from retreating to any human planets. Captain Keyes instead opts to jump to a set of coordinates found on a Forerunner artifact. This leads them to Halo. The Covenant however quickly catch up and force the Autumn down onto the ring. Chief and the surviving crew begin an all out guerrilla war against the Covenant, but there's more to the ring than meets the eye. This is the game that started it all. Succeeded with no online multiplayer until the 2003 PC edition, and with the same maps until launch. That's a good game.

Halo 2 is the 2004 sequel to Halo: Combat Evolved. Taking place roughly a month after the events of Halo, the Master Chief has returned back to Earth, and at the Covenant capital
city of High Charity(giant squid-looking space station), Thel 'Vadam is branded as the Arbiter for his loss of the Halo(he was the commander of the Covenant Fleet at Halo).
What follows is a plot spanning several days as the Chief and the Arbiter fight through the invasion of Earth, the Flood and eventually another Halo, this time with much more at stake.

Taking place in New Mombasa in the weeks prior to Halo 3, and starting midway through Halo 2, you play as an unnamed rookie ODST(Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, what
happens when you mix Paratroopers and SAS Units in space), who had the misfortune of dropping into New Mombasa shortly before it was destroyed. Filling in some major
plot points between Halo 2 and 3, the game adds a lot of context to the series. Also added is the Firefight game mode, pushing up to four players in an onslaught against the
Covenant. The goal is to survive as long as possible and get as many kills as possible. ODST also includes a second disk containing the Halo 3 Multiplayer in full, with three
additional maps(Mythic Map Pack II).

Halo 3 concludes the Halo trilogy's main plot. It's now several weeks since the end of Halo 2, in late 2552(presumably November, with Halo 1 in September). The Arbiter and
the Elites are now the main faction in the Covenant Civil war, choosing to ally with the UNSC. The Chief has been MIA since the end of Halo 2, but reappears at the beginning(durr).
The Covenant have been excavating something near the city of New Mombasa in Africa. It is a portal to The Ark, the control center of the Halo array. With the four factions
(the remnants of the UNSC, the Sangheili[species known as the Elites], the Covenant and the Flood) poised and ready to begin the final battle of the war, they all enter the portal,
some in chase of the others, in one final battle to either use the Halos or stop them once and for all.

Halo: Spartan Assault is a fairly run-of-the-mill top-down third person shooter available on the Xbox, PC, and Windows phones. It takes place on the world of Dratheaus IV and it's
moon between the events of Halo 3 and 4. You switch between playing as two different Spartans, Palmer, and Davis. Missions range from destroying targets, to wave defense, to
driving tanks and blowing shit up. While it isn't very innovative and has really short levels, the game does capture the feeling of playing Halo from the top down, and isn't very expensive.
If you like top down shooters, you'll probably like this game. If you don't, you'd be safe to skip this one.

An ancient evil awakens...
Halo 4 is the first game in 343's new Halo series. The Reclaimer saga once again follows Master Chief, and Halo 4 finds him on Requiem- the so called "Legendary Planet" from Halo 3.
Requiem is similar to one of the Shield installations, not unlike Onyx or the Armoury World from Halo Wars- and it is protected by the Prometheans, a highly esteemed sect of Forerunner
warrior caste soldiers brought back to the frontlines during the end war with the Flood.
This is a full release and first true sequel to Halo 3, and, as such, revamps several aspects of the game. This includes, but is not limited to, adding sprint as a basic character function,
new armor abilities, gameplay that's been described as an evolution of Halo 3's with bits and pieces of Reach, for good measure, and customization unseen in the previous games. Halo 4
is the first in the series to be presented in HD @ 720p, and features Nvidia's FXAA technology.
Opinions on it vary greatly, and mentioning it here is pretty much guaranteed to start a heated argument.

Halo 5 Guardians is the next upcoming FPS in the series. It will continue the Reclaimer Saga and will have the player playing as two different protagonists, not unlike Halo 2. You'll be playing
as Chief, and a new character first introduced in the Halo: Nightfall 5-part show, named Locke. The game features new abilities such as ground pounding, clambering, and thruster packs
available to all players. a new PVE/PVP mode is also making it's debut, dubbed Warzone. It pits two teams of 12 against eachother, and each team needs to rack up points by either killing
the other team, taking bases, or killing NPC enemies spawned throughout the maps. The campaign features a drop-in drop-out co-op system and the ability for the player to command three
other spartans when playing solo (a lot like Republic Commando). The game also features a REQ system that basically like Engrams from Destiny or unlocks in Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, except all the powerful guns and vehicles can only be used in Warzone, keeping everyone on equal ground in regular multiplayer.

[B]Books and Stories
Dr. Halsey's personal journal- A booklet co-written by Eric Nylund and is included with the Halo: Reach Limited and Legendary editions. It covers various elements from the Halo universe and
is written through the eyes of Catherine Halsey herself. Contains some rather interesting and important information about the good doctor and her work, as well as confirmed a few theories.
[B]The Original Eric Nylund Trilogy
Halo: The Fall of Reach- Essentially, this is the most important book of all. It documents the pre-game events of the Halo universe and gives all you need to know about the Master Chief.
Very good read.
Halo: The Flood- A retelling of Halo: Combat Evolved, its an interesting book. Adds a bit of depth to the main story of the game, and pretty entertaining to read.
Halo: First Strike- Bridging the gap between Halos 1 and 2, the book recounts how the Master Chief, Sergeant Johnson, Cortana and the rest of the Spartans made
it home to Earth. Adds a lot of details to the plot, and has some seriously interesting scenes. Answers many questions about Halo 2.
[B]Miscellaneous Series
Halo: Ghosts of Onyx- Ghosts is an extremely good read, and seems to be the most well received of the Halo books. Focusing around Kurt "Ambrose", a Spartan II
turned trainer for the Spartan IIIs, the book takes place on the secret world Onyx, where the UNSC is training the next gen Spartans and a component of the Halo
array lies in wait. This book introduces the concept of Shield Worlds, the Spartan IIIs and SPI armor.
Halo: Contact Harvest- Following the first contact with the Covenant at Harvest, the book centers around Sergeant Johnson during the pivotal days during the violent
battle that was Humanity's first encounter with aliens. I found it to be a very good book, as it adds a lot of character to Johnson and it gives a lot of clarity about the
first contact, the Covenant's political layout and the enigmatic Engineers.
Halo: The Cole Protocol- The book centers around the character of Captain Keyes, who was a main plot center in Halo 1. The game takes place in the 2530s, and
introduces the Arbiter outside of his role as the Arbiter, merely being Thel 'Vadam. For that, this book is good. It also provides some back story into the Insurrection
in the UNSC and has a few really awesome battle scenes. It also goes into detail about Gray Team, a group of Spartans that was basically given guns, pointed to
Covenant space and told to fuck shit up.
Halo: Evolutions- A book of short stories revolving around the Halo universe. The poems are kinda cheesy, but the stories are fantastic, and most are considered Halo canon.
[B]Forerunner Trilogy
Halo: Cryptum- The first in the planned trilogy of novels depicting the final years of the Forerunners leading up to the activation of the Halo array. The first novel, in trilogy form,
introduces the main characters and paints an image of the Halo universe as it was over 100,000 years ago. Brings loads of ridiculously detailed new info, much of which was surprising.
Including some on Forerunner society, the existence of humans and their role in the Forerunner empire, the existence of the races that formerly comprised the Covenant, and the
mystery of the Precursors. I won't go into much detail, as I don't wanna spoil anything, but it's a fascinating read if you're a hardcore fan.
Halo: Primordium- The second installment in the Forerunner trilogy. After the events of Cryptum, Bornstellar's human allies find themselves lost on a partially destroyed Halo.
Halo: Silentium- The third installment of the Forerunner trilogy, this book focuses on the Ur-Didact and the Librarian. The book explains a bit more about the Precursors and
ends the Forerunner Trilogy.
[B]Kilo Five Trilogy
Halo: Glasslands- The book is the first of the Kilo Five trilogy, and is written by Karen Traviss. the trilogy takes place between Halo 3 and 4. It offers a lot of background info
to the Halo 4 story. The book and introduces Kilo Five, an ONI team with the mission of disrupting the Sanghelli covertly and keeping them from being able to attack Humanity
again. Many people disliked the trilogy because of it's continuity errors and subjectively bad writing, but it does explain some things about Halo 4 and gives a conclusion to
the Ghosts of Onyx arc.
Halo: Thursday War- The second book continue's where Glasslands left off and introduces the Infinity. It offers a bit of insight into Sanghelli culture and brings back the idea
of an Insurrection in the UNSC.
Halo: Mortal Dictata- The third book ends the Kilo Five arc and takes place (for the most part) on a human colony heavy with insurrectionists. While it doesn't offer much
to the overall lore, it does delve into the background of some of the Kilo Five Soldiers.
[B]Shows and Movies
Halo Legends- Halo Legends is a series of animated shorts created by various studios under 343's supervision. While every story with the exclusion of Odd One Out is canon, artistic liberties were taken, and as such many of the visual designs are not canon.
Halo: Forward Unto Dawn- Following a group of UNSC academy students in the days leading up to, and the initial attack of the covenant. It gives a good glimpse into life as a UNSC cadet, and shows how sudden the Covenant's attack really was. Don't expect a lot of action in this one though. The film heavily centers on the drama within the school.
Halo: Nightfall- Nightfall follows a mixed team of ONI agents lead by Commander Locke (before he became a Spartan), and a Colonial Guard group from the planet Sedra. After a covenant terrorist attack on Sedra with an expermental bomb, the ONI /Colonial Guard team tracks the bomb's chemicals to a damaged section of Installation 04 (the ring from the first game), and go on a mission to blow up the ring fragment before anymore can be made. While more action oriented than Forward Unto Dawn, it's still a bit light when compared to the Halo games.

Halo, due to it's popularity, customization and multiplayer choices, has become a major haven for Machinima creators. The most known of all is Red vs Blue, a comedy and later action series by Rooster Teeth.
It began during the Halo 1 era, and continues all the way through Halo 4- and likely beyond. Halo 3 made the Machinima scene far more accessible due to the addition of the Theater,
which allows players to view real-time reconstructions of a game they previously played, allowing for complex camera angles to be used.

God, this fucking Forge release is such a fucking shitshow. A bunch of people are having the issue of the app just not being available for no reason whatsoever and it doesn't seem like Microsoft is even attempting to fix it.
ill just repost from what i said in that sh thread
the microsoft store is so bad that i can't even log in because it can't connect to the internet (despite being connected), and in turn i can't download jack shit
I've spend 20 hours in the past 4 days redownloading the game 3 times due Microsoft's retarded way of managing security permissions in Windows 10 on top of having to create a new Microsoft account because apparently my previous one was corrupted even though it only prevented me from specifically adding Windows Store apps to my account. Oh, and I had to do a system restore too. It has never been more painful in my life to try to play a game.
So, is there some sort of facepunch list of gamertags for Halo 5 Forge? Mine is Zeno of Brasov
So, is there some sort of facepunch list of gamertags for Halo 5 Forge? Mine is Zeno of Brasov
There is, including it in OP edit when I get the chance today/tomorrow.
Don't understand why people are having so much issue with the store Oo. Everything I've ever downloaded from it has installed fine :v: and worked fine
Don't understand why people are having so much issue with the store Oo. Everything I've ever downloaded from it has installed fine :v: and worked fine
There's many people who don't meet the system reqs for some reason or another. Some people are having issues downloading in their region, and some people simply didn't take the two seconds to figure it out.
I keep hearing people bitch about how the game won't launch, and then if I ask them about their specs they say "Intel Celeron" or "128mb VRAM" or "2gb ram" and I wonder how they even installed Windows 10 in the first place
Does the weapon glitch not work on PC?

The only properties that are copying across are clip size and fire rate.

And some people meet all the requirements and have all the required updates and everything and still only get the "not available" crap.

It's still working no problem. Got a whole bunch of them up a prefab on my fileshare. Called Experimental weapons.

I'm aware, hence.

Did you try downloading the bundle through a web browser? 2 mins of google searching would have solved that for you.

It's not that either, my account region is US.

Have you tried downloading the forge bundle instead?
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/halo-5-forge-bundle/9nblggh4v0fr
Or does that say unavailable aswell?
No one seemed to notice in the old thread that Halo: Mythos came out. It more or less sets down the framework of existing canon from the days of the Forerunners to some hinting at the aftermath of Halo 5 and Halo Wars 2 ([sp]There are a lot of locked doors in Forerunner structures that shouldn't be opened for a very specific reason that was shown in the original trilogy. And the Created sure have been opening a lot of them... *HINT HINT*[/sp])
Biggest thing that came out of it was this image:

Two things about this:
1) This is a scene from Halo 3 recreated using Blur assets, unlike every other image in Mythos which were painted
2) Chief's model is new. His hand armor has three dots like in Halo 3 instead of five like in Halo 2 and Halo 2 Anniversary.
So H3A might be on the way.

Depending on the combo, that can be all that's copied- it's a bug, so the results are really inconsistent.
Other than that, though, it remains un-fixed.

Unavailable too, same for the Halo app.
It's not that either, my account region is US.
That rarely helped people who are having that issue. That was how you got the game downloaded and got the game working before it came out.
Unavailable too, same for the Halo app.
set back to your region, and edit the URL to your region. If not, contact support, perhaps tweet a few 343 devs on reddit who often answer questions. if that doesn't help, they'll fix it soon, issue's like that are normally top priority. All because it's not fixed right away doesn't mean they aren't trying to correct the issue.
so this happens when I try to download the bundle

Any suggestions?

My back up desktop doesn't meet the the CPU requirement and I was able to both download and play the game just fine. The store is weird.
It's getting a pretty stable 60fps at 900p with weird mix of settings with a Phenom IIx4 955 and a GTX 670.

You have to get the bundle. It's not available on its own.
I thought the thread title was going to be 'The last thread turned into the Antagonist'
As good as the Forge is on PC, they could've focused on the MP aspect a bit more, like making sure people don't get stuck in [del]limbo[/del]lobby, or the fact that more people can join that they should be (seeing a lot of 17 people in a single lobby, for a max of 20)

It's kind of a hastily made port tbh so I'm just happy it works at all. I wish it was better but I don't think it'll ever get there
It's kind of a hastily made port tbh so I'm just happy it works at all.

Besides a minor issues like horizontal mouse, instability of scripting, lag in forge, lack of FOV slider. The port is very solid. Everything I listed is currently in the process of being fixed.
I wish it was better but I don't think it'll ever get there
Except everything they've done with the title so far, and upcoming features indicate otherwise... Infact they've done nothing but show they mean business bringing Halo back to PC.
I thought the thread title was going to be 'The last thread turned into the Antagonist'
Yeah, the current thread title is pretty weak tbh.
Wasn't aware we voted on names, or had one selected. Not like I could ask since the thread was locked.
