Don't you mean the covenant?
Halo: Tales from Slipspace preview is up on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/reader/1506700721?_encoding=UTF8&page=13#reader_1506700721
It's an anthology like Evolutions and Fractures, but it's a comic instead. Only story from the preview (from what I can see, anyway, Amazon won't let me view the whole preview) is backstory for HW2 and the flood spore from Escalation. [sp]The fucking awful new Flood style is canon now.[/sp]
There's also some previews of the art that comes with it, one of which IMO has the worst depiction of Cortana that was official.

I wouldn't take the comic's art as 'canon'. It shows them using the Halo 4/5 style BR, when all the previews of HW2 have them using the older BR design.

In terms of pain, isn't Halo 5's menu literally a ton of TrueType fonts laid on a background? Like system fonts? Which the strings of can be edited?

Fairly interesting theory I found. Guy has a bit of trouble getting to the point at times, but not as bad as HaloFollower.

That's a good thing actually, at least under the hood. The thing is the layouts suck

Going to his recent videos, the guy's fuckin graspin at straws

Seems really epic. A perfect way to end a trilogy. Literally better than Halo 3.
343 would not be able to pull it off.

I used to watch his videos leading up to the release of Halo 4, but once it hit and he started his halo 5 theories, I just stopped.
I just started up Halo 5 Forge, and I suddenly got a pop-up in-game telling me I had an "unlicensed installation" and that I need to "uninstall Halo 5 Forge from the Windows App Store".
What in the world? I've got a legitimate install of WIN10 on a effectively brand-new, higher-end laptop with H5Forge and the Halo App installed legit from the app store.
...with Halo 5, the game designers were thinking about how their vehicle and weapon designs might look as toys. One might view the latter example with cynicism—another sign that merchandising is poisoning artwork—but Ross sees it as a way to prod Halo's designers into thinking differently.
Out of curiosity, I was debating on picking up a used copy of Reach for 360 - worth the 5-10 bucks (likely from what I've seen) for it?

Definitely, it's not the 'best' game of the series and opinions about it are pretty mixed in some ways, but it's still a solid game in its own right. Plus if you have an Xbox One, I think the backwards compatibility problems have been patched (though I may be wrong).

It doesn't run 1:1 to the 360, but it's far from unplayable. It's been mostly ironed out.

To be fair, the article is actually a lot less worse than my quote made it seem. But it's still troubling news at any rate.
Good news for anyone that hates the new Cortana (Tales from Slipspace spoilers): [sp]It's been confirmed in a preview of the book that she's compiled from rampant components. Or in other words, Cortana from Halo 1-4 didn't suddenly become a sociopath.[/sp]

Oh good more stuff that anyone who only plays the games will probably never get since it probably won't be brought up in a game setting.
It really bothers me that they started doing shit like this. Like I've read all the older books and I think it's pretty cool to finally see Blue Team, but they give them absolutely no introduction iirc, they're just there. People who had only played the games would have no clue who they were. The Didact was sort of like that too, but it was alleviated by the fact that no one in the game knew who he was either, but if you didn't read those books, all he is is "The bad guy"
[editline]7th October 2016[/editline]
Books and shit should be supplemental material (like they were) not mandatory to fully understand the plot.
Or they should be at least turned into animations that ship with every game to explain events inbetween games.

Then the lore fans will be butthurt again.
All 343 really needs is a decent prologue and explanations in the dialogue. If they're going to drag the extended universe into the plot it's vital.
Honestly stopped caring for lore when the themes changed. The forerunners were mysterious, the war a loosing one, the spartans rare and tortured super soldiers, not The Avengers. And the games didn't have a story that was personal that became less identifiable with because of increased personality.
When I played bungie's halos, The player character was me with a nice voice saving the world. When I play 343's halos, we're looking at an emotional, personal story that distances me from the character.
(I then included a multi-paragraph explanation on how a lot of promethean tech doesn't make sense either on practical terms, like buttons disintegrating when you use them, or was drastically different to contemperary tech, like how their weapons disintegrate on kill while every other game has had sentinels go to the effort of trying to burn flood clean. This went on to things like hardlight without relevant projectors (that scene at the end of halo 4) , copy-paste of prometheans, colour coded prometheans, and a bunch of other shit that was added by writers and gameplay developers with little care for sci-fi conventions. But it was better to not bore everyone)
You can't buthurt me with lore anymore. I treat 343s stuff as an entirely different universe to bungie's stuff. Once you recognize them as distinctly different things, it's not so much a problem.
Reach should be getting a BC update soon.
