You've got OPTRE which is a Halo mod for Arma which is pretty fucking great. Closest thing you could get right now.

Yeah I saw that and its pretty awesome. I just want a Battlefield like Halo because I think it'd be awesome playing as a marine fighting innies or the covenant and driving all the cool Halo vehicles in first person. This would of course all be in Halo: Reach's artstyle
Im more of a BF guy but I'll definitely check that out now that it's released

With forge on pc, we might be able to get something like that as a mod eventually. We already have the tools to make some cool maps, all we need now is good ai and perhaps something to handle all that computation.
imo halo CE had the best armour, but they've never done it justice in remakes eg. master chief pack or it's appearances in later games

master chief on the unsc saturday night grifball game
I thought reach did CE's armour well and then at the same time not.
The underlying bit looked amazing. Some of the addons were questionable.
I like the legs and the back and the forearms and the diaper
the chest, shoulders, and helmet look like someone went fucking crazy with the liquify tool
Hmm, never noticed this before, nice little detail.

But what's it's purpose, because if it's a defense mechanism, it obviously doesn't work.
I'm sure you would try every last thing you had if you were being consumed by a parasite..
I think its the shield generator exploding.

It seems like it, by why only red elites?
Better shields?

Ah, good point.

That would make sense.
I desperately want to play Halo again but my 360 is at home. It'll be Christmas before I can. ;_;
I'm kinda looking forward to getting back to my college- they've got a pair of student rec room XB1s with gold sharing on them, so I can play backwards-compatible Reach, H4, and MCC for FREE.
I'm going to have to buy an xbox one for Reach. Really miss the gameplay and aesthetic.
I'm going to have to buy an xbox one for Reach. Really miss the gameplay and aesthetic.
Reach still runs pretty decently on 360s, so that's a viable way to play.
I'm debating getting an XB1 over the holidays, but then again, I have access to two with shared gold at my college when I'm down there during the semester(s)...
On another note, I really wound up getting almost a bit teary when I got to the part in Reach where [sp] Jorge pushes you out the Corvette hangar and then dies, only for "SLIPSPACE RUPTURE DETECTED!" to start spamming and the whole Fleet of Particular Justice just drops out of slip in Reach orbit. Really hammers home how well and truly fucked Humanity was prior to the events of Halo CE - Halo 3[/sp].
I kinda hope Halo 6 takes a similar tone, at least at first. That, and I also hope they take the feedback a lot of fans have been directing at H4/H5 and mix their current artstyle with that of Bungie's prior to H4- sort of a mix of the high-tech, slick designs of 343i and Reach's rugged utilitarianism combined in the armor and weapon designs (save a few that seem a bit good as of now, like the Magnum, DMR, Carbine, etc).
I actually feel like drawing up some concept sketches of what a mix of 343i and Reach-era Bungie MJOLNIR armor might look like for some of the common types, like MKIV/V/VI and Recon, etc.
If you look at the Halo 4/5 art books it's clear that 343i does have a good art and design team, but they made the mistake of outsourcing the actual in-game models and using the crap the other companies make for them.
Here is one of concepts made for Fred. It's a decent mix of Reach and 343's own "style" of armor.

See, I think that looks alright but it still looks more complicated than it should be. 343's art style wouldn't be so bad if this for a different franchise altogether.
I thought George's sacrifice was contrived, as was the death of Kat and Generic-american-leader's. I would never champion reach for solid character development.

Honestly the only worth while games on the Xbox One are on Windows 10 now and so is the best part of Halo 5. I'd hold back on getting an Xbox One
I know I'm probably gonna get flak for this, but as much as I hate the Promethean designs (and the Didact's design), I like the designs of the Forerunner themselves and their weapons.
[img_thumb]http://www.halopedia.org/images/5/58/Forerunner_forms.png[/img_thumb]
Apart from the floaty stuff on them I think it's very close to how they would have turned out in Bungie's artstyle. When it comes to the floaty stuff I think it's a matter of practicality over anything else, it looks cool on the weapons but terrible on Warden Eternal and the Guardians.

I don't have it on my phone but Bungie did do concept art for a Forerunner and it looked nothing like 343i's art
I think 343 did an amazing job with the artstyle for prometheans. They look incredibly cool and often unique
However, They don't fit forerunners.

I thought they were Noble sacrifices.
Also its Jorge, not George.

Wow that design is really generic. Pretty uninteresting. Kinda looks like a geth. For once I actually think 343 did a far better job on the design.
I don't even know how that design would work. If the material is malleable it would look incredibly out of place next to Forerunner machinery, and if it wasn't then there's no way to move.
343's version of the constructor is pretty nice too.

Neither look very practical though.
I still look at Bungie's art style as a compromise of what the technology at the time could deal with, in terms of forerunner design. (Reach unarguable looked the best) I look at 343's designs as a technological evolution of Bungie's. If you take your time out to look at some of the intricacies and motifs in Halo CE, you can still see some of those motifs in 343's design, just with added flare thanks to increased processing power. The constructor being a good example of my point.
