So do you think 343 have realised people prefer the Bungie artstyle and maybe try to go back to it, beyond armour pieces for five, perhaps for halo 6?
I think they will. Halo 6 has a lot of story opportunities to explain the "regression" in design and after Halo 5 they can't afford not to listen to people's complaints. With Halo Wars 2 showing they can respect the new art style (and that Spartan on the menu screen) so it's not out of the question. It might even mean we finally get to see what Mk VII looks like.

Knowing 343 after Halos 4 and 5, even with the harsh reception the plots have gotten? They're not going to take these opportunities and instead push out more sidestory books that have details you should know and yet not do much with it all for some new twist anyway.

I thought this was about the art style, not the lore? I said 343 does have lore excuses for the change in artstyle if that's what we're getting, not that they wouldn't fuck up the actual lead-up to Halo 6.
They have been listening though. Halo 5's multiplayer was a dramatic improvement over Halo 4's and is still being improved on. There was more going on behind the scenes of Halo 5 than developer negligence and they've handled Halo Wars 2 in the plot department very well so far. They can improve and have taken steps towards it, but they might go back on it all the same. All we can do is wait.

Sorry, I misread and did a small lead-off the conversation without realizing it.

We don't know about plot yet, it might be shit.

No prob, happens to all of us sometimes.
We don't know about plot yet, it might be shit.
True, but they haven't gone overboard with the lore trying to build up to it. The most was Hunting Party and Something Has Happened in Tales From Slipspace, and even then those two will have a minor impact if at all.

REACH HELMETS ARE BACK SOON
And a not-shit Mark V variant too. Damn I'm going to love next year.
finally we're getting more none-shit helmets
I need that Recon Helmet in my life, I hope it has the little antenna on the left side like it did on Reach.
There's a gamespot article up about the update.
Stuff about forge:
The big focus of the update is the addition of "powerful and robust" scripting tools that players can use to create all manner of gametypes from simple to complex. Players are already doing this, as we've seen some incredible creations like Star Wars podracing and Quidditch, as well as the "Clogged Toilet" mode. It's very exciting to think about what players will cook up with the new, more feature-rich tools.
One element of Forge's new scripting system is what's called the "Action Target." This allows you to modify the actions of up to 64 objects at the same time. Additionally, scripts can now have four actions per condition, while scripts can be disabled at three different levels: map level, object level, an script level to further enhance and refine what you're making. There are also new conditions being added, including those that trigger events based on score changes or the specific time in a round. Another new condition is one that checks when a player or object enters, exits, or remains inside a boundary.

343 is starting things off with its own gametypes in the form of Race and King of the Hill (these were in past Halo games but not Halo 5) and a new, awesome-looking one called Battle Golf. We'll have a video of this mode up later today; check back soon to see it.
Another big part of Halo 5's new Forge update are new canvases. These come in the form of Barrens and Depths. Barrens is a large, desert-themed canvas that has three unique lighting themes. Depths, as its name suggests, is set under water. In addition to the canvases, there are more filters and effects being added to Forge with the Monitor's Bounty update, including the Heat Distortion, Under Water, and Infected Flood filters and the Bubbles effect.
General Forge enhancements, tweaks, and changes are also included in the update. One of these is a file recovery feature. Already present on PC, the feature, which creates an auto-save of your map when you get disconnected from the server, makes the jump to Xbox One. Another new feature is "Machinima Mode," which lets you snap screenshots of your levels directly in the game.
Fuck yeah. Also hopefully someone remakes Rocket Race as well.
Anyone remember the Halo 6 script from the Manequinn Challenge?

This update looks amazing.
[editline]8th December 2016[/editline]
Maybe now we'll be able to make a HORSE or PIG gamemode, or even a proper Linear Infection/Safe Zones/Halo 4's Salvation gamemode.
Do you think they updated scripting to allow movable weapons
Do you think they updated scripting to allow movable weapons
I can already see a gamemode where people have to chase an infinite ammo sword around as it runs away
I wonder if this means things like non-juryrigged trains and moving death obstacle courses that don't entirely rely on physics objects, hills and/or mancannons.

I hope so. I'm looking forward to someone making a construction-themed map with the swinging hollow crates, sort of like that room in Half-Life 1.

I wish. I'm making an EVA map where people in the command centre can send up weapons to people on the surface but the guns to don't work properly.
-Snip-, I assume the custom games browser is pretty much a way to play without joining off of friends
I wish. I'm making an EVA map where people in the command centre can send up weapons to people on the surface but the guns to don't work properly.
Maybe the update will let you spawn a weapon pad that disappears once someone picks up the weapon.
Update is live for me on Windows 10 store;

8.83 GB Total it's saying.
Hell yes, Custom Games browser on PC on Thursday. That is way sooner than I expected.
Oh.
And I just uninstalled the game too.
Uh.
Fuck.
... how big was it again?
Apparently they didn't add an FOV slider or uncapped frame rate, and the mouse acceleration is still there.
Apparently they didn't add an FOV slider or uncapped frame rate, and the mouse acceleration is still there.
So i guess still no ultrawide support then? I'll guess i won't be playing now either then.
Apparently they didn't add an FOV slider or uncapped frame rate, and the mouse acceleration is still there.
I really hope they do something about the mouse issues now that it's more accessible for more people.
Maybe next time we shouldn't take the word of a streamer with no connection to 343 as gospel.

They meant to update the PC but for some reason it's not in the update.

So after the 8gb update my computer has 3gb more free space than before. Did they remove any redundant/needless data?
