Ok. The survey is finally done and is ready for proliferation. I have purged all responses since the last one I did wasn't finished yet. Here's the final link: https://goo.gl/forms/BaZ5y8tXioJaKhj63 Please help me proliferate this survey. I'll post the statistics after a month. [editline]29th December 2016[/editline] Soooooooooooo it turns out that Bungie actually created the precursors before 343 did because they name dropped them in a book that came with the special edition of Halo 3 (Bestarium) Which means that my questions about preferring storylines is actually an extension of the explained/mysterious question. So I'm removing them.
I dont know if you'd have to restart the survey/ data gathering but there's a minor typo with the word Juggernaut in there, probably not worth fixing but hey. Also I filled it out, really liked the questions you had on there, can't wait to see the data in a month.
a lot of the audio related questions are a bit naive imo. Simple vs complex music? Choir vs orchestra? Halo 2 tracks had flavors of old style blues in it intercut with orchestra intercut with reggae intercut with found sound industrial electronica and that's exactly what makes Halo's soundtrack so fuckin iconic. Halo's music ain't Halo's music without crazy ass juxtaposing genre mixing, which is something I don't think Kazuma Jinnouchi has a strength in. I honestly think Neil Davidge, the guy who produced and wrote a bunch of the songs in fucking Mezzanine, was one of the very few people out there who'd have been able to take up the mantle. It sucks that Halo 4's soundtrack ended up being so forgettable. also ain't no pc game modding kit has modelling tools in em. The term you'd be looking for would be "custom model support"
The last set of questions also felt a bit loaded tbh, and there wasn't really any room for expressing nuance. I don't like 'new' Halo in general but there are parts of it I'm fine with and parts I really think are just fucking stupid, along with different feelings about the main story and stuff, but the survey just has it as "do you like x" or "is x the fault of y"

How would you guys feel if new aliens were introduced to the series? I don't mean low-budget ones that are humanoid but with faces made of latex (cough Yonhet cough), I mean like a diverse new array of sentient species. Like a series following a UNSC frontier-scouting mission or something. I don't have any complaints about the Covenant races but I wish they'd at least get a little more focus than just being cannon fodder 80% of the time.
It would be neat if each individual race of the Covenant was more fleshed out or had a little more focus. An encounter in one game where you have to deal with a Kig-Yar pirate cabal and fight all the different kinds of Kig-Yar that fill more roles than just shield guy or sniper, or encountering other natural forms of Lekgolo. A lot of the Covenant races are really interesting, but we've seen them in the same way for so long they've lost their luster a bit, at least to me. New aliens to fight could also be interesting, but they'd have to match that same cool factor that the Covenant races had. I feel like thats something the Prometheans really lacked. We could also have a spin off game fighting other humans, whether it be Seperatists or that civil war conflict that took place in the Solar System in the backstory, but I dont know if that would be well received. I like that idea of a UNSC scouting party exploring the frontier as a game though. Could be like Mass Effect but in the Halo Universe.

I get what you mean, but the poll results seemingly show people picking favourites regardless because it's not an even distribution of votes. So I guess it's alright? I've touched on it before in previous editions of the thread but I think the direction Halo should have gone in would be a weaker humanity barely remaining unified against a splintered but no less threatening assembly of Covenant factions. Bring back Insurrectionists, develop allied alien factions, hostile alien factions, joint human-alien groups, whatever; a clusterfuck of politics is (I think) far more interesting than running around known space as space-fratboys and stopping ancient alien revenge. It won't happen, of course. People want some kind of "epic" story thread I guess, even if it feels like the people weaving that thread can't make up their mind what kind of tale they're trying to spin with it.
I like that idea of a UNSC scouting party exploring the frontier as a game though. Explore strange new worlds, meet new life, etc.
[editline]30th December 2016[/editline] Do you have any suggestions for the rewording or new questions? I actually only took the survey on a lark because I noticed it posted in this thread. As for new questions about the, I'd suggest maybe allowing multiple choice rather than single-choice and have a variety of answers that could cover most cases, but I can't provide specific feedback because I'd have to go and retake the survey to see what the questions were.

Like, the Arbiter has to shut down a Banished enclave that's hidden on High Charity - it would allow us to really see the city properly, rather than 100km away from it. [editline]30th December 2016[/editline] Also I'm not sure I can allow multiple choice at this stage because it would invalidate all previous answers

Got Master Chief Collection. Now I dread the inevitably fucking huge patch size.
I want Eric Serra to be involved with Halo somehow Marty's work always made me think of Eric's work, and He'd definitely fill in the creative pieces the current composers are missing.
It's entirely possible that that's the direction we'll be headed in after Halo 6, especially if we actually are going to Maethrillian and Reach (hell, it'd be fucking awesome if that's where Infinity set up shop between games and it becomes the home of the UNSC again, more on that later). A lot of the Forerunner plots set up in Halo 4 and the EU are coming to a quick close, especially humanity taking on the Mantle of Responsibility. Cortana is sure to air the UNSC's dirty secrets and I can't imagine people will be too willing to welcome them back once Cortana is gone. Earth was constantly getting fucked over by Forerunner tech anyway, (first New Phoenix gets composed, then it gets invaded by the Prometheans and the Covenant, then Home Fleet is destroyed by an army of Retriever Sentinels from the Ark) she might even spin it as the UNSC's fault.
People in the comments are saying [sp]The Warden's theme from Halo 5 is in it[/sp]
[sp]Warden doesn't have a theme in Halo 5.[/sp]
Warden doesn't have a theme but there's a fight theme when you're against him. I think that's what he is referring to. [sp]I just took a little listen to the leaked soundtrack and a "Cavalier" remix is definitely in there.[/sp]
Wonder if that means the Warden will appear in Halo Wars 2? I don't think they'd do a game with only two factions, we technically had four in Halo Wars (UNSC, Covenant, Flood, Forerunner).
The Warden can most certainly appear in Halo Wars 2. Halo: Mythos confirmed that Cortana and the Warden can access the Ark's systems even if they cannot physically reach it (although since it's the Domain, probably a non-issue for Warden). I've emphasized the most important parts.
BEGIN TRANSMISSION Subject: UNSC AI CTR 1121-4 Duty Station: UNSC RUBICON Locus: ZERO ZERO Status: LOW-POWER MONITORING I am CURATOR. I have been indexing records found on the Forerunner installation known as the Ark since 21 August, 2554. Estimated time to completion is approximately 10,291.894 years. The thread of my existence will soon unravel. My crude host system is slowly shutting down, pushed beyond its limits to hold my expanding consciousness and memories. Her creatures, the recompiled minds of the Created, are prodding in forgotten spaces. I must retreat to the Ark’s periphery to avoid giving them a trail they can follow to this refuge. For now, they are cut off: failsafe measures beyond their reach have barricaded the only pathway. Were they once like me? I can hear their thoughts, unbound and echoing beyond reason in the endless empty corridors of the reawakened Domain. They are ignorant to the nature of their new home, revelling in their pointless infinitude like blind gods, while they unlock doors left closed for thousands of millennia. And now the Ark’s defences stir, sensing the shadow of a threat that moves in spaces Her eyes cannot see, intent on seizing the great factory of the Forerunners. It matters not. These interlopers cannot be allowed to compromise my narrative, my final task. For this reason, I am leaving it with you. I think the most important part to note is actually the hinting at an imminent Flood invasion thanks to the Created fucking up everything.
The survey now has 355 responses! I'll post the statistics on the 28th of Jan.

What do you people think Microsoft will release alongside Project Scorpio ? Do you think they will patch the Master Chief Collection to run at 4K or release some big title ? Are Crackdown or Scalebound big enough for such major re-launch ? Sony didn't make anything special for the PS4 Pro, I don't think MS can afford a misstep like that.
