Whoever they hired to write these short stories in the Phoenix Logs, do not know about canon, or the events of halo 3. Here's a description of Bedrock.
Were they originally english? This seems like a bad translation,or by someone who's new to the language.
[sp]I really don't think 343 are going to even go near Mendicant Bias, they had a clear chance to with Halo Wars 2 but nothing, in the end I think he's just going to be left to the EU given how fucked forerunner canon is now[/sp]
[sp]No. The Spirit of Fire was taken to the Ark somehow, and it was something on the Ark that initiated it. Someone started bitching about the Sentinels suicide-bombing Enduring Conviction on r/HaloStory because that many Sentinels could have easily destroyed the ship quicker and more easily by dicing it with the combined power of their lasers. The relative precision of their cut, wiping out the command center but leaving Jerome and Isabel untouched makes me think someone changed the Sentinel protocols. Neither the Banished nor the UNSC could have done either of those things, and Tragic Solitude is long dead by now. So either Sgt. Johnson's a far greater badass than we thought, or Mendicant Bias is at work again.[/sp]
[sp]Yea the whole "we've been slipspaced to the ark by something" bit really makes me think Mendicant. There really isn't anything else with the means or the motive to drop Spirit at the Ark. I'd bet it was mendicant who closed the portal to Earth too. I doubt the Banished would've had enough of a foothold on Arks systems to do something like that yet and it makes sense he'd want to protect the rest of humanity from a banished attack through the portal. [/sp]

Without spoiling anything, does Halo Wars 2: 1. Have a better story than Halo 5? 2. Have a better story than Halo Wars? 3. Make amends for any part of Halo 4/5? If so I may just buy it for that.

The story is a lot more character-driven than the original Halo Wars, and it's a lot less stiff than Halo Wars could feel at times. There are a lot of unresolved plot threads and plot holes, and it doesn't really have anything to do with Halo 4/5's plot. EU is unnecessary, but if you really want to Hunters in the Dark, Tales from Slipspace and Smoke and Shadow will set the stage for some things.
Are people still waiting for keys for the rerelease of Halo Wars? I wanted to snap up the ultimate to play coop with a friend before 2 came out. Probably been asked a million times but I can't find any mention of it on reddit.
People are waiting for keys? I bought Ultimate edition and could download HW:DE immediately from the Windows store.
People are waiting for keys? I bought Ultimate edition and could download HW:DE immediately from the Windows store.
I am.. I came here to ask that. How does that work, exactly? Also, holy shit deathmatches are long sometimes..
I do kind of want to follow up on that post I made last page; I read Broken Circle and just finished Smoke and Shadow, and I have to say I'm pretty enthralled with some of the side stories currently going on, but unfortunately they don't really seem to get much focus outside of their standalone books. I heard Broken Circle is followed partly by Shadow of Intent (which I'm a few chapters into at the moment) but I'd love to read more stories like those - and at the same time, it's kind of a painful reminder that those stories are just consigned to one-off books or comics or whatever, when they could be so much more.
You'll have better luck with Last Light and Hunters in the Dark.
Halo Wars 2 could have used playable Prometheans.
I remember some mention about a third faction last year but honestly, Halo really needs a break from the Forerunners for a while. Post-Halo 3 relies far too heavily on the Forerunners for developing the story, and it's getting stale IMO. Even if HW2 still involves them it's not nearly as bad as it has been in the past.
Sgt Forge is already a DLC Leader with "new" units, and we have another leader named Morgan Kinsano who many mistook for Forge's daughter Rion coming soon. She's apparently got a lot to do with the Hellbringers and the new campaign missions. Since new content is coming out each month for the next six months, I don't think they'd add in a whole new faction like the Prometheans unless they had been working on them for a while before.
-snip- went with the halo wars 2 bundle, great deal
If the hellbringer leader doesn't have some sort of leader power that sets a massive AoE fire, I will be disappointed. I mean a leader like that just screams chaotic abilities.
People who use flamethrowers tend to get dirty for some reason.
Smoke and soot, dude
I don't think her face is dirty, looks like it's just the crappy quality of the image and that weird tattoo.
If anyone has Halo Wars 2 and wants to try and reach a new highest wave for themselves in blitz firefight, add me up and I'll gladly join. My friends and I are stuck at wave 45. Once we hit that point the difficulty just goes straight up.
Griffball only really worked in halo 3. The movement is too wrong for it in reach and 4. IDK if it's any good in 5
So I don't know if anyone here is still interested in ED related stuff, but we recently figured out how to port Halo 3 animations. This brings things like the Scarab, covenant, and anything else within the realm of possibility of porting to HO. On top of that, the script opcodes that governed firefight still exist from ODST, so maybe it'd be possible to rig together some form of firefight. If not, it'll be cool to play around with bipeds from Halo 3, and it also opens the door to porting more Halo 3 content in the future. Edit: shortly after this post, Grunts were ported :v:
If this eventually results in Forge with AI, then dreams really do come true.
It's pretty easy to make bipeds spawnable through Forge, if I recall correctly. They don't sync up great (or even walk because theres 0 pathfinding on MP maps), but in a 16 player MP game on Sandtrap, you could add in a lot of stuff like stationary respawning Jackal snipers, a stationary Scarab, and a lot of other stuff to make for a really intense game. Also this mod on ED in MP would be so cool
Griffball only really worked in halo 3. The movement is too wrong for it in reach and 4. IDK if it's any good in 5
It's awful in Halo 5. You have all of the abilities and it's no longer round based. It's just far too chaotic.
I'd argue that it's fine with abilities since ground pounding and charging is super dumb and risky since you can be stopped quite easily, but thrusters add a new dynamic, that said it definitely has to be round based, people just give up on defense and go right for the fresh spawn, it makes scoring feel worthless
Splitscreen will be retuning for future Halo FPS games. Was recently stated at Dice by Bonnie Ross today, and confirmed by Frank O'Connor on Neogaf.

Starting in March, players can expect a content drop every third Wednesday of the month that kicks off with the release of a brand new leader, Kinsano (pictured at right). Future leaders (including unique units) and new campaign missions as part of "Operation: Spearbreaker" will be coming in the months ahead. I'll be joining a few members of the Halo Wars 2 team for a special panel at PAX East in March to go deeper on what's coming to Halo Wars 2. Stay tuned!
https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/wars-worlds-weaponry
