So think 343 will learn from the mistakes of Halo 4 and Halo 5?

I think we can safely say that they are at least taking some strides toward doing so.

ODST map ported to Halo Online!
Pretty early state, but it's getting there. This opens up a TON of possibilities, greatest probably being Halo 3 ODST campaign on PC. It should also be possible to apply this process to Halo 3, which could mean the rest of the Halo 3 maps coming to ElDewrito (and Halo 3 campaign on PC, too)

Considering Bonnie Ross went up to a huge crowd and straight up said "yea we fucked up with no splitscreen. We're always having it in the future" and then Brian Reed going bye bye. They're taking steps.

Is this a map constructed of a bunch of models like flatgrass/foundry or is this actual .map work being done?

Its actually BSP (level data) from ODSTs intro level (its a cutscene level)

Despite textures, will the next attempt be a firefight map? They always seemed good for multiplayer, Rally Point or Lost Platoon would be beautiful.
Also seeing that gamecheat13 got banned from xbox, seems he should be doing this again, especially with the map imports. Although no idea how much the devs get along with him.

Very nice.
Is it possible to import skybox data the same way you imported these BSPs?
finished glasslands, it was pretty good. liked all the kilo-5 stuff but all the hypocrisy surrounding halsey was quite bewildering.
Have they actually ever correctly imported textures of anything yet? Even from way back when they were just trying this on multiplayer maps I've never seen any new textures that worked.

The halo 3 weapons models mod uses models and textures from Halo 3, soon animations from it, as they just got animations aswell
Good luck with getting lighting to not be trash like on the console engine.
Gave up on BSP work because of that years ago.
That's a joke character right? Because it looks dumb as fuck
I dunno, it feels exactly like some old crazy shit Bungie might have come up with, in my opinion, I like it.
know what i always wanted in halo?
motor cycles, like Harley Davidson type bikes.
That's a joke character right? Because it looks dumb as fuck
That's the reason I love it. And if we don't get Sergeant Avery Undead Cyborg Mecha Fuckin' Johnson too I'll be pissed.

Jackrabbit's closest you'll see outside the EU (I don't even know if they've shown up there), I think. Motorcycles don't go too well with the UNSC's militaristic style in the way that a quadbike like the Mongoose does. For me it's hard to imagine a half-ton Spartan riding on something as relatively flimsy as a motorbike in the middle of a battlefield.
Motorcycles were pretty commonly used by military couriers in the world wars, I thought.
Motorcycles were pretty commonly used by military couriers in the world wars, I thought.
That's a pretty different situation though. The UNSC has instant, encrypted communications in virtually if not all of their equipment and scouting is mostly performed by drones, otherwise a Jackrabbit, Warthog or Mongoose would easily suffice.
Motorcycles were pretty commonly used by military couriers in the world wars, I thought.
That's very outmoded. You might as well ask for chief to have a horse.
We've got encrypted wireless communications and UAV's now.
Plus, as much as I love how motorcycles look, I don't think they fit halo.
motorcycle scouts / couriers are still used in modern militaries although I doubt UNSC would have a use anymore
wireless comms are not reliable
I never liked the mantis/cyclopes. They don't really fit how humans go to war, they're overly complicated for what they're supposed to achieve. large imposing things that are using legs for some reason is more the covenant's domain.
But then again, humans arent using enough AI/Unmanned technology in their military. Artillery and air power seems to be pretty lacking also. Too much infantry focus, but what would the master chief be if not for the infantry focus?
The only large thing with legs the covenant uses are Scarabs, everything else floats, unless you want to count the cut Gorgon from Halo Wars 1 and the grunt mechs
fuck grunt mechs

The Cyclops isn't a combat unit (HW2 is a variant Lethbridge made that Serina "acquired" by the blueprints of) and the Mantis is very rarely seen outside of highly important ONI ops.

What about the Locusts and the Kraken?

The Mantis MKII in that Halo 4 map is waaaay cooler then the Mantis we get to drive
With the depleted human population and huge gains in Forerunner tech I wouldn't be surprised if we saw UNSC versions of Promethean Knights, just somewhat lower tech. They'd have to be pretty dumb too since I don't see the UNSC trusting smart AI after the Cortana episode, at least until they figure out how Forerunner Ancillas worked.
It would also set up a new enemy to fight when the Flood eventually returns and the entire army gets logic plague'd

While I don't see the UNSC using infantry drones they do already have a lot of autonomous vehicles like the wombat.
