That new Johnson voice is a terrible imitation
Aside from the voice he's pretty fun to play as. He's more or less a anti-infantry beast with his mechsuit and once you research the Smart Missile and Gauss Chaingun upgrades he can tackle vehicles with ease too.
Don't even get me started on the Mantis and Colossi mechs which are pure awesome, as well as the deployable bunkers which are extremely nifty.

Very good part near the end:
I’m friendly with a lot of the designers at 343, and it’s funny because while they want to make Halo their own, they also really want approval from the people that worked on the original. They want to be true to what they think of as Halo from the outside, from having played it when they were in college or whatever. But they also want to know: “What was the philosophy behind ‘X’?”
I always encourage these guys that, look, the philosophy behind using “X” was that I just liked it better than the other options. There isn’t this magic, secret formula. You just do the best that you can and make it a game that excites and interests you. Don’t look back, don’t try to recapture the first Halo, it can’t be done. That was a moment in time as much as it was a game.
I think with Halo 4 they were not confident enough and played it too safe, and were very much looking backward. But from what I played of Halo 5, they picked a direction and they went for it. Halo 5 is definitely a better game because of that, and I think it’s a more modern game, too, because they weren’t self-referential.

They were trying to figure out the secret solution, and trying to dissect Halo. And that leads to where you find those new Star Trek movies. I thought the first one was pretty good because they said, “Let’s make it as different as possible.” But with the second one they were like, “Let’s try to recreate as many of the moments from the previous ones as possible.”
And it’s like, no. If the only way I enjoy this is as a reference to something that’s better, that doesn’t work. You cannot enjoy the reference as much as you enjoyed the original. I felt like Halo 4 was pale imitation of previous Halos. With Halo 5, at least it’s something new. But man, I wouldn’t know what to do with the series now. If you said to me, “You’re the creative director of Halo 6, what do you do?” I would have no idea. You can’t win. It’s an unwinnable situation.

Halo 5 Hot Fix – May 31
Today a hot fix is rolling out to Halo 5 that, among a few other things, addresses one specific issue that was found to be causing a “Heavy Aim” state in the game as reported by players across the community. We are excited to see the impact this fix has but will continue to monitor data and player feedback to determine if there are any other issues contributing to a “heavy aim” feeling in Halo 5.
Heavy Aim
What is “Heavy Aim”?
This term has come to be used across the community to describe a game state where the on-screen reticule feels sluggish and less responsive than it should.
What is being fixed?
The team has identified and successfully repro’d a specific condition that results in players getting in a bad state where Halo 5’s input latency is higher than it should. This hotfix includes an update to make it so this particular issue will no longer cause players to get stuck in this undesirable state.
I thought “Heavy Aim” was fixed before?
In December we released a small hotfix that addressed a different issue that was slightly impacting input latency in Halo 5. After players’ reports continued and additional in-depth investigations commenced, a larger underlying issue was discovered which is being fixed in today’s patch.
Will aiming be different now?
It will really depend – players who found themselves frequently getting stuck in this particular ‘heavy aim’ bad state and who are sensitive to millisecond changes in input latency will notice a difference now as they no longer get stuck in that state. This fix is solely aimed at resolving that specific issue – the fundamental aiming mechanics of the game aren’t being changed.
Is that all?
Please keep in mind that there are many external factors that might contribute to how the game feels while playing online. Network-related latency – which can be caused by any number of variables - is a factor of playing online and is not something that this patch will impact.
We’d love to hear about your experiences with this new hotfix. If you frequently found yourself in a “heavy aim” state before, have you noticed a difference now? Please let us know in the forums.
Additional Fixes
The primary impetus for this hot fix is the heavy aim issue noted above but this patch also includes a few other small items that were being worked on in parallel:
Helmet and Armor customization items are now sorted by name and rarity instead of unlock date
Added additional tuning capabilities for HCS game variants (gives the 343 team greater future flexibility to adjust settings and variants in the retail environment)
Looking Ahead
With this latest hot fix out the door the team is continuing work on several other high priority issues that have been reported by the community. Most notably, work is underway to get a hot fix released to address the “double shot” exploit as well as the Plasma Grenade “wall glitch” that has been making the rounds of late. We will provide additional details as we have them but the team is pushing to get these particular fixes into the game ASAP.
Thank you for the helpful feedback and game films being shared – it’s incredibly useful to the team – and please continue to share feedback with us on social and here on Waypoint.
When devs from another game steal your devs' meme.
It's... not confined to one place though? I've been seeing that around for years.
You can't "steal" a meme...
Soon™ is older than God, you can't steal it.

what do you think they'll show @ e3?
Possibly new Halo Wars 2 map, maybe something for Halo 5 PC? IDK, not much to hope for anymore since Halo 3 on PC is slowly turning into another Half Life 3.
I predict MCC/H5 Scorpio update + Play Anywhere at E3 today. Probably wishful thinking but at the very least I expect a Halo 5 Scorpio update. Just makes sense that they'd try to update it for Scorpio, considering it's the newest mainline Halo game.
It'd be the perfect time for them to repent for the lack of splitscreen. If the scorpio is actually a good leap in power, then surely it could handle Halo 5 splitscreen (without enhanced graphics of course)
Halo Wars 2 4k update, that's it.
They still plan on revealing something this week.

/r/halo is going mad but TBH if they hyped themselves up for nothing it's not 343's fault at all.

THE FLOOD ARE BACK
It's about damn time.
I was very disappointed with the Microsoft conference. I though with Scorpio being released the Halo series would get a 4K upgrade and they would finally use this chance to at least release Halo 3 on PC. How naive can one be...
I'm actually really glad nothing big on the Halo pc front was announced
which is weird to say

yo why though
cuz I've been super invested in working on installation01 and its a fear that them goin official would render all my work redundant and useless :c :c :c :c :c :c :c :c :c :c :c :c :c :c
its selfish af to feel this way but its legit a tad scary

And the ElDewrito devs and sitting here going "why no mcc pc?"
So it turns out that the HW2 Expansion doesn't fall under the season pass; the 'campaign expansion' promised by the season pass actually refers to 2 campaign missions and the leaders and such.
As you'd expect, /r/halo is currently undergoing a meltdown.
It's been known for months now that the season pass missions were going to be at most three. 343 really should have held off on the announcement, especially since it was already taking the back seat at E3.

Halo Online confirmed for TI-83 Plus :v:
Oh hey its a DS game
Does anyone know how Halo Wars 2's ranked matchmaking system works? I'm a level 11 and in 2v2 Blitz, I keep on getting teamed up with around a level 10 against two level 50s. Almost every single time.
And almost every single time we lose, because despite me capturing the control points as many times as each enemy does, and collecting more energy singlehandedly than the enemy team does, my ally is almost always completely useless; they sit at the base building an army while I'm trying my best to prevent the enemy from controlling a majority of the control points. And when they do decide to send out their army, they choose to attack enemy units rather than taking control of the points? It's so frustrating.
[editline]18th June 2017[/editline]
Maybe I'm just super competitive, but it is EXTREMELY ANNOYING how most people can't do Blitz mode properly. Not only do people not attack the control points, but so many team members try to kill as many enemy units as possible, while minimising their own losses. Which is incredibly stupid. Every single time an enemy unit is killed, the enemy gets a refund of energy, so they can build more units. How does that help our team?
The best strategy for Blitz is to capture as many points as possible and minimise how much you kill the enemy, yet that goes over so many people's heads.
It's probably because of the tiny population of people playing it. Halo Wars 2 doesn't even appear on the most played chart for Xbox Live.
