They remind me quite a lot of Reach's Noble concept art personally.
That's what I was trying to put my finger on. That concept art is some of my favorite designs to come from Bungie, so i'm excited to see these concepts from 343 look so similar.
[sp]Why are we spoiler tagging this? Not like it has bearing on the game's story. Anyway most of the teams being "brought back" make sense from a lore point. These are Spartan teams that had special objectives and were never part of Red Flag. And considering these are Spartan IIs we're talking about, and full teams no less it make sense they'd survive the war. Though seeing only three of them makes me think Omega might have lost several of it's members throughout that time. [/sp] [editline]23rd June 2017[/editline] They remind me quite a lot of Reach's Noble concept art personally.
The problem is that after CE Bungie never clarified during their time that Chief wasn't the last Spartan anymore, so when people who aren't invested in the lore or are new to it see all these Spartans running around it usually ends in them complaining about 343 ruining the lore. Blue Team, Black Team, Gray Team, Red Team, Omega Team, Naomi-010, Maria-062 and one possibly MIA, and out of them Black Team is dead and Maria is retired. There's nothing ostensibly wrong about them surviving it's just that it's getting ridiculous how many Spartan-IIs are still alive today. And no, Omega Team hasn't lost anyone over the years - they were at the Battle of Arcadia with Red Team during the cutscene before the first mission there. Six Spartans were shown but only Red Team came aboard the SoF, and it was never clarified who they were or if they died.
One of the words I used to describe my distaste for 343's artstyle was "overdesigned". However, I feel like these are also overdesigned, but I love it. Reminds me a lot of a mix between 3/Reach/Wars. [editline]23rd June 2017[/editline]
They look pretty reasonable to me. It's modified Mark IV, and Mark IV was always greebly. But them only showing 3 has me thinking they might reveal a couple didn't make it. I know the 3 is for gameplay balance so I'm betting we'll get a canon fodder down the road about the rest.
Well I don't complain that 343 ruins the lore, but I do think that the rising numbers of Spartan IIs ruins the story for me. The allure of Chiefs backstory, and what made me read the first 3 book when I was so young was that he was possibly the last one of these "super soldiers." I'm totally fine with new generations of Spartans, but John loses his mystery and status when he's surrounded by other Spartan IIs crawling out of every nook and cranny. The justification of John being the main protagonist in the Halo games has gone from "last surviving member of his godlike branch of the military" to "one of them old Spartans that happened to be there to save the day every time something bad happened" - Halo 5 being the exception to that last part due the somewhat cliffhanger of an ending. I'm not a lore nut, I enjoy watching Halo Canon occasionally and I only ever read the first 3 "Xbox" branded books. Abbadee made the point of people who play the games and people who read the lore having totally different outlooks on he franchise so I was just contributing to that - so don't get mad at me for my lack of lore knowledge.

On a side note one of Jerome's leader powers is literally dropping covenant ship wreckage on enemies
Well this is good news, for now http://www.pcgamer.com/fan-made-halo-game-installation-01-gets-the-official-thumbs-up-from-343-industries/

now all eyes are on us :pudge: loud sweating What's the dumb about, friend?
So, gave Commander Jerome and Arbiter a try in HW2 and boy are they fun. Both commanders work superb if you fancy rapid assaults and their special vehicle units (Mastodon Heavy APC for Jerome, Phantom for Arbiter) puts alot of focus on infantry which is nice since usually in HW2 infantry units feel very downplayed/overshadowed lategame. Both Jeromes and Arbiters abilities are quite good with Jerome focusing primarily on buffing units through inspiration bonuses and veterancy bonuses while Arbiter work more or less the same with buffs activated when he uses his own powers as well as stasis traps. The Mastodon and Phantom are really fucking fun to use and while both units are armed (LMG/Plasma Cannon) their own personal weapons don't really do much damage on their own. Instead their real strength comes from the infantry which they transport (Mastodon: 3 squads default, 4 when upgraded. Phantom: 2 squads default, 3 when upgraded.) as the garrisoned units fire out using their own weapons. When trying out the commander I quickly learned that having five Phantoms filled with hunters was incredibly OP as you basically get a bunch of flying hunter cannons annihilating vehicles and structures at a rapid pace while Mastodons filled with (upgraded) marines and cyclops will spam rockets, gauss fire and even utilize the field mechanic's repair ability while garrisoned allowing your Mastodons to repair themselves. Overall the commander are great fun and I'm sure as hell gonna play them some more, especially since I never got try out Omega Team.
I'm getting close to the end of ODST now but I think I'm in trouble because I went underground before making sure that I had all of the Sadie's story tapes. I'm at Circle 9 Act 1 and I don't know if I can return to the surface to check to find the last remaining 3. Are any of the tapes under ground?

Watching 4 Spartans go to town on the enemy is a thing of beauty, and all 4 can garrison mastadons so you can imagine the havoc that causes. I think what really makes these two leaders great is their new units don't just take the place of another, they add a whole new niche and level of strategy to it.
Well shit. Looks like I'm replaying Kikowani station...
They're all in the freeroam area aside from that one. Just grab one of the mongooses you unlocked a drive around for a bit. There's a few behind doors you wouldn't think you can open.

Just finish the game and then go back to Mombasa Streets to mop up the last of the data logs
Just finish the game and then go back to Mombasa Streets to mop up the last of the data logs
I was hoping to get the second ending straight away but I suppose I'll have to do that then.

Because RTX is starting and there are a lot of Halo fans there. Nothing much else to it.
Yeah but it isn't solely Halo fans. They could be showing off something there, probably Halo Wars related.
I can't imagine they wouldn't show something at RTX. It's got such a big Halo fan following.
I can't imagine they wouldn't show something at RTX. It's got such a big Halo fan following.
RTX was when they showed the Atriox vs Red Team cutscene for the first time in full, wasn't it?
RTX was when they showed the Atriox vs Red Team cutscene for the first time in full, wasn't it?
I think so. They've almost always shown something along with having a panel the last few years.
https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/halo-summer-celebration Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo 4 are coming to backward compatibility and all of their map packs will be made free. Best Halo news in a very long time.
