One ship is already giving the series Enterprise syndrome, now we get a second one?
To be fair it's only a little more effective than an assault carrier. I feel like we could easily see it being taken out by a guardian next game.
In the Bungie era Halo lore, the Ark was outside the radius of the Halo detonations and so was a safe haven. Why didn't the Forerunners just hang out there while they blew up the galaxy?

If i recall correctly. I'm probably wrong, never paid that much attention to that.
I just picked up Halo: Retribution yesterday. I've heard it's pretty neat and I've read Last Light, so I went ahead and grabbed it. One thing that still surprises me is how many vehicles we've never seen in the games at all, or not even mentioned sometimes, either.
status update? more like fucking feature list holy goddamn fucking shit there is so much NEW SHIT
Mother fuck those forge improvements are insane. How the fuck. This is crazy that it was done without the source code Also https://gfycat.com/DownrightFarawayAustrianpinscher Real time editing weapon model placement - no more need for FOV fix mods that reposition all the weapons

Working to include the books more by introducing stuff from them and showing just how large the Halo universe really is.
In the Bungie era Halo lore, the Ark was outside the radius of the Halo detonations and so was a safe haven. Why didn't the Forerunners just hang out there while they blew up the galaxy?
They did. All that was left of the Forerunner Ecumene were the refugees that were lucky to make it to the Ark after Mendicant Bias and the Keyminds took a shit on everything. After the Halo array fired and the species they had archived were returned to their home planets, most of them went their separate ways into exile. Some left for distant galaxies and never returned, others may have tried to rebuild. One even became a Monitor. It's definitely possible some survived. The Orion arm of the Milky Way (and a small section at that) is all we've seen of the galaxy in Halo, there's bound to be some who survived in a Cryptum, unaware of the war that raged around them, or a Shield World with a reclusive population. Anyway. Apparently Warfleet has a cross-section of a Monitor. Shame I've got to wait 2-3 weeks for my order to arrive.
anyone who survived in a cryptum is probably gonna be pretty fucked up due to the domain being thoroughly raped

I know it's non-canon but holy fuck does no one at 343 know how to design shit?
Is that a brute? LMFAO. Thanks 343.
I'm pretty sure it's a grunt
I'm pretty sure it's a grunt
It's a Brute Grenadier. In better news, some forger called MultiLockOn got hired by 343 for map design. Apparently he's the best forger ever, but idk - I've only ever heard of his H5 maps, which do look good.
Looks like Halo 3 became backwards compatible today on Xbone, downloading now. I'm assuming that means ODST was also put out but I don't have a copy of that on-hand. [editline]21 September 2017[/editline] Can't link it on mobile but Larry Hyrb has confirmed on Twitter that: Halo 3, ODST, 4, and CE: A (physical only) are available now

The older games finally going backward compatible just reminds me how horribly 343 fucked up the Master Chief Collection. I seriously hate them.
I never had any issues with the MCC Then again I'm not an MP player.
The older games finally going backward compatible just reminds me how horribly 343 fucked up the Master Chief Collection. I've said it before, but I think the actual ports themselves are pretty damn solid. I know Halo 3 has some audio issues but overall I think they did a good job, which makes the launch sting even more. When I heard that every game in the collection was going to have their full multiplayers intact and that you could switch between them at will I was beyond hyped, and I still enjoy popping in the MCC and playing a few matches. It sucks because it was too late by the time they fixed it, so you still to this day have pretty slow matchmaking times, and forget about finding a match unless you're playing Team Slayer or BTB. [editline]21st September 2017[/editline] This also makes me sad because this launch is probably what killed Halo 3: Anniversary, how can you have one of the most popular games of all time, hell one of the biggest launches of all time turning 10 years old this month and be doing nothing with it? It really sucks. I'm gonna go play some Halo.
I'm starting to get the feeling now that a lot of that fault lies on Saber, the same people who brought you the brilliant mess that is Halo Online.
Or the fact that the small Russian studio was doing the Halo 2 Anniversary campaign, Halo Online, and Quake Champions at the same time. also what the fuck they didn't even touch the ports lad I still don't get why anyone would expect a Halo 3 anniversary. It's firmly in that diminishing returns deadzone where even if you re-did all the assets from the ground up, the game would look pretty much the same at a glance if you stuck to the art direction. Tbh, I think running it at 1080p at 60hz is enough. It's rough around the edges, but not to a distracting degree.
Finished Retribution a few days ago, wanted to mention what I thought but didn't think it was worth bumping up the thread again over. It was a really good Halo book. Reminds me of the first few. The murder mystery theme from Last Light continues and it works well with the sort of organizations in the Halo Universe. 8/10 would recommend, only wish it was longer [sp]also that marks the first threesome in the Halo universe that's been explicitly mentioned, I think[/sp]
[sp]also that marks the first threesome in the Halo universe that's been explicitly mentioned, I think[/sp]
Do elaborate.
Sure thing. [sp]In the book, we meet the person who has been deemed the only one "capable" of interacting with a Forerunner AI named Intrepid Eye. She was in Last Light and is obsessed with making humanity ready to take the mantle of responsibility that we were given after the Forerunners were gone. Problem is, this "preparation" requires her to be slightly... genocidal. She only wants the best of humanity. And of course, ONI, who has her in their custody for study, is a great starting point for her to get access to a lot of powerful tech that can cause damage.[/sp] [sp] Intrepid Eye is being monitored closely by ONI, so she gets the dumbest person she can on base to be the one who "studies" her: a man named Bratalan Craddog who is jumping through the ranks like crazy because he is getting all of this info out of Intrepid Eye. In reality, the AI is just blackmailing him and giving him information that isn't really useful (she gives him a Forerunner mirror blueprint lol) in exchange for his continued enlistment and him doing favors for her. Craddog is a "womanizer" and the evidence she Intrepid Eye uses to blackmail him is mostly him banging Oni office assistants on top of desks and generally having sex in uniform on duty. Later, she catches him laying in a bunk for one with two lower ranked ONI officers, and Intrepid Eye states that she "didn't even know humans fit together in that combination."[/sp]
That sounds like dumb shit, really. (like I don't wanna rate you dumb cause you're just relaying info, but it sounds dumb)
yay, i still have my magical unicorn armor! :buckteeth: also: if you want everything you downloaded on the 360, you go under manage game, ready to install and it a should be there.
Awakening The Nightmare releases for Halo Wars 2 on Tuesday, it could be good, it could be bad, no real way to know just yet. Either way, people have already been able to play the first mission, and have uploaded it to YouTube. Here's the first cutscene:
As I don't really care about hw2 itself I'm mostly interested what they're going to do with the flood, is this just a one - off reappearance or are they coming back for the main story of the franchise
