Sure thing. [sp]In the book, we meet the person who has been deemed the only one "capable" of interacting with a Forerunner AI named Intrepid Eye. She was in Last Light and is obsessed with making humanity ready to take the mantle of responsibility that we were given after the Forerunners were gone. Problem is, this "preparation" requires her to be slightly... genocidal. She only wants the best of humanity. And of course, ONI, who has her in their custody for study, is a great starting point for her to get access to a lot of powerful tech that can cause damage.[/sp] [sp] Intrepid Eye is being monitored closely by ONI, so she gets the dumbest person she can on base to be the one who "studies" her: a man named Bratalan Craddog who is jumping through the ranks like crazy because he is getting all of this info out of Intrepid Eye. In reality, the AI is just blackmailing him and giving him information that isn't really useful (she gives him a Forerunner mirror blueprint lol) in exchange for his continued enlistment and him doing favors for her. Craddog is a "womanizer" and the evidence she Intrepid Eye uses to blackmail him is mostly him banging Oni office assistants on top of desks and generally having sex in uniform on duty. Later, she catches him laying in a bunk for one with two lower ranked ONI officers, and Intrepid Eye states that she "didn't even know humans fit together in that combination."[/sp]
This sounds like some terrible erotic fan fiction
Yeah if you're going to make jokes/jack off in the halo universe and have it cannon it shouldn't be anything more than dialogue. Having forerunner AI initiate pranks and affairs is fucking moron-tier. I think I'd like a little more "UNSC are fascist" in the lore, and maybe if you're really clever you can make some subtle satire there, but anything beyond easter eggs, subtle stuff, and dialogue is just fucking vulgar .
https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/happy-birthday-halo-3 On another note, 343 finally gives us details on their Halo 5 classic style playlist:
PLAYLIST SETTINGS Here's a breakdown of what you'll find in this new social playlist: LOADOUTS Spartans will take to the battlefield with a Halo 5 BR w/ Classic Scope as the primary weapon and an Assault Rifle in the secondary slot. PLAYER SETTINGS In order to help convey a more classic gameplay feel, the team has adjusted a numbers of settings to make Halo 5 play a bit more like Halo 3 did. Eric "GH057ayame" Hewitt, a designer on Sierra Team who just recently departed 343 to pursue new opportunities, led this effort by combing through the sandbox settings and code for Halo 3, working closely with former Pro Team members, and evaluating several common community-driven "evolved" settings. Here's the breakdown of the gameplay settings changes that are unique to this playlist: Motion Tracker range is increased to 25m All Spartan Abilities are disabled (Sprint, Ground Pound, Spartan Charge, Stabilize, and Clamber) Player jump height is increased Slightly increased the effect of gravity on players Player movement speed decreased Increased player forward and strafe acceleration Adjusted shield and health recharge rate to approximate Halo 3 values Classic Team Oddball: Reduced ball carrier movement speed Classic Multi-Flag CTF: Reduced flag carrier movement speed
This playlist also features Forge remakes of Guardian, Snowbound, The Pit, Citadel, Isolation, High Ground, and Ghost Town. The rest of the article is the memories from many people in and out of 343 when Halo 3 was announced, its ad campaign, and release, as well as their celebration stream, and community playdate today. You know, in case you thought 343 really wouldn't do anything on a day like today. It's no Halo 3 Anniversary, but it's something.
When we gonna get news of 343's last trillogy game?
On another note, 343 finally gives us details on their Halo 5 classic style playlist:
I would try it out, but that would mean downloading 100GB of a game I despise.
This sounds like some terrible erotic fan fiction
[sp]Cradogg is mentioned maybe four times in the book. He's just a plot device for Intrepid Eye to take over via blackmailing him into doing her bidding. The scenes are minor and the rest of the book is great.[/sp]
When we gonna get news of 343's last trillogy game?
Hopefully never.
I still don't understand how like, any of H5's story got through, what's the point of having an expanded universe if any time they cross over they're either used completely incorrectly, referred to as the wrong thing, or major characters killed off like they were nothing. Opening a game with the characters just murdering a major antagonist is the fucking weirdest. Like, that's on the same level of like, Thrawn from Star Wars showing up at the beginning of the new movie, introducing himself, and then like, fucking Lando shoots him in the ass and he dies.
Halo 5's story is an indefensible mess of wasted potential. Jul M'dama's death just straight up shouldn't have been at the start of the game, or maybe have even happened in Halo 5. Osiris has character, but none of it was shown in the game, and Locke has no character whatsoever. Blue team was barely in the game, and the Hunting of the Truth just doesn't happen. Hell, Halo 4 is better than 5. 343's novels are usually great, but their in house writing team seemed to just... not exist when it came to Halo 5.
Hunt the Truth is false advertising. Full Stop. It's a completely fake marketing campaign that had nothing to do with the game and it's disgusting
After playing the beta, I was super on the fence about Halo 5, but then I started seeing the ads for it and it got me hyped because I thought at the very least the story would be fun to play. Like seeing the fucked up Master Chief statue was really interesting to me. I would really love to know what happened with that ad campaign and how no one said "hey none of this is in the fucking game".
it's not like I Love Bees or the big Halo 3 diorama had anything to do with the plot either, marketing people are never going to be told anything in case it leaks. hunt the truth was just taking it even further which admittedly sucked.
still don't know why 343 spent all that time in h4 establishing a villain only to have him die in some comicbook taking bets if they'll learn to not do real dumb shit in h6
I don't think the didact even really really died, he can still come back if halo 6 brings back the flood though, that'd just be hilarious. introduce a major antagonist in every single game of the new trilogy.
taking bets if they'll learn to not do real dumb shit in h6
I bet the opposite. Each game under 343 has been worse than the last.
still don't know why 343 spent all that time in h4 establishing a villain only to have him die in some comicbook taking bets if they'll learn to not do real dumb shit in h6
He's not dead. The writers are just so shit they forgot they said the Didact can't be composed. And now he's composed, so who the fuck knows what he's going to be like when he eventually returns.
I don't think the didact even really really died, he can still come back if halo 6 brings back the flood though, that'd just be hilarious. introduce a major antagonist in every single game of the new trilogy.
Count on it. 343 always picks the easy way out of whatever dumb mess they've gotten themselves into.
So Halo 4 comes out and many of us think the story is super dumb. So Halo 5 comes out and all of us think the story is super dumb, some even forgiving halo 4 by just comparison. So Halo 6 comes out and all of us and the real-life covenant think the story is super duper dumb, some even forgiving halo 5 by just comparison. [sp]So 343 announces a new trillogy and due to the current pattern we're all arguing over if they're parody or not, because 9 was super serious because of backlash and because 8 was surreal anime with gameplay, and so we're not sure if we've now got layers of irony. 9 is hated for it's story because it's just too serious and logical for the stupid bullshit of the last five games and just doesn't fit the tone of the series. Truly 7 was the highlight of the series. I liked the part where Locke merged with the precursor who revealed that cortana was a gravemind and that Arby would have to fire the halo rings even though it would hurt his bestie, chief's feelings, when the ring would inevitably kill Locke because of his being a precursor symbiote. Fortunately the Entire UNSC voluntarily become prometheans so earth is saved from the array [/sp] The Spoiler is really stupid so maybe don't click.

Granted, having Palmer and Laskey commit basically a double team Erupting Burning Finger with the Mantis Mark 4 on the corrupted spirit of Dutch/Romeo was a huge stretch (did they really have to merge with the last Guardian on Mars? I mean who was asking for *those* guys for a return/kill off), and gave us the hated and ultimately pointless "Spartan Promethean CrossGene" ultimate system (which was thankfully removed from the main MP after months of criticism). BUT, it did have the best playlists, which included the heavily praised revised warzone and BTB (elephant warfare > anything else), although I do miss having the Assault Rifle. Maybe it was because the E-Sports teams didn't like the premium skins on the gun, but personally I'm surprised they just went back to a modified H2 style of "BR, DMR, SMG" in their loadouts. I do appreciate the throwback H2 pistol on the trade off though. [/sp] Spoiler is better, yet still stupid.
Eh, halo wars 2 has a flood expansion? Is it "canon"?
Eh, halo wars 2 has a flood expansion? Is it "canon"?
"yes"
"yes"
Ah just fuck'em all to death. 343 to gulag Literally just fired a fucking halo ring right next to them. One day I hope someone makes a halo 4 that just isn't 343's halo 4. And we can have a trillogy. And it'll be great.
This is why I haven't been considering 343's games to be canon.
at some point you have to decide whether you truly care about the series, and stop supporting 343's fuckery, or allow them to get away with shit and buy this halo-not halo trilogy
I've already decided I'm not going to support them. The next game is pretty much guaranteed to continue the stupid trend of sprint and armor abilities. Don't even get me started on where the story is going.
Halo 5's MP is great though, its the SP that sucks ass.
I hate both equally.
As much as I adore Warzone, fuck the fact that it turns into a stomp every fucking round because guess what, not being able to have anti-air without cards is fucking bullshit
am i wrong for not being bothered by halo 4 and 5 at all?
am i wrong for not being bothered by halo 4 and 5 at all?
No
The next game is pretty much guaranteed to continue the stupid trend of sprint and armor abilities.
I dont understand this argument. Halo 2 was supposed to have sprint, they added dual wielding and equipment in 2 and 3. Reach added armor abilities. It only makes sense to have more gameplay features as the games progress, it's fun. I think Halo 4 and especially 5 were great steps forward for gameplay, however the art style and story were shit on to hell and back. H5 mp is one of my favorites already.
