Yeah wasn't supposed to be Jenkins from the helmet-cam footage? Lmao, The Flood was pretty not good from what I remember
That was the one written by William C. Dietz. Never read it since nearly all of his tie in books have really bad reputations (he wrote the infamous Mass Effect book where Kai Leng broke into Anderson's apartment just to eat a bowl of cereal, and got so much shit wrong they Bioware had to reprint it with a bunch of rewrites to make it work within the established canon). Ironically, from what I remember, the bits with Jenkins were well received since everything else he wrote in the book was a bland retelling of the game.
Oh God yeah, I always thought it was CS Goto that wrote that Mass Effect book. Flood did have some neat moments and the side-plot with the ODST company doing... whatever was kinda cool but yeah, very skippable. W/ev I still have Nylund's books if I really want

That looks fucking great already. Maybe when it's done it can replace Halo Online or something now that that's ceased development.
is that end a showcase of some sort of theatre mode or is it just pretty cinematic stuff
Just pretty cinematic stuff.
The end of an era https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/8nd2k9/bravo_leaves_343/
Thankfully not a leaving on bad terms. He'll be continuing to stream Halo.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_rrJNeZD6w We're drowning in i01 media today bois I hope to show off the sound design proper in a dedicated video soon, the stuff here is compressed to hell.
MCC Development Update #4 | Halo
Halo 5's forge is pretty great https://youtu.be/B1xQmpcM8fU
The stuff people have been managing out of Halo 5 forge has been fucking insane. This is still my favorite thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZvPe0uS6M8

huh, wonder whats going on with the artstyle, seems they are going back to a H3-ish look
They have a new art lead.
So is there any word on what exactly it is? They didn't say anything at all during the press conference.
Blam Engine is now called the Slipspace Engine. Coolio.
This feels like it's an open world game, somehow...
" the game will focus on the Master Chief and continue his saga after the events of Halo 5." It's Halo 6, except they seem to be dropping the numbers from the title.
They did in the news post I linked.
The addition of wildlife and the grand open areas remind me of Halo 1's later demos with wildlife and grand open areas. While I'd rather not have an "open world" game, something like ODST with a "hub and spoke" system of missions wouldn't be out of line. Hopefully Chief slotting in Cortana means that her Halo 5 status quo gets taken care of rather quickly. Also cute how they added that little blue circle to the back of his helmet to evoke Cortana on Windows.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's actually built from scratch this time. They otherwise wouldn't showcase its name if it weren't the case.
What's the internet's general impression of the xbox e3 conference? I was asleep through the entire thing (time zones)
The Halo Infinite teaser didn't show much interns of gameplay, but did give us an exciting look at the new direction 343 is taking with Halo. They have said many things here and there about the game so from what I found and remember (will make edits if needed) here is everything that should be a part of Halo 6 Halo Infinite Splitscreen: Back in 2017, Bonnie Ross stated that Splitscreen would return in all future installments for Halo. Now, things could change as always but hopefully it returns. Capacious: When asked about H6 back in 2017, Frank O'Connor replied with "Capacious" which means big and open. This could mean (along with what we saw in the teaser) that Halo Infinite is an open world like game or one with very open levels/environments. Classic Armor: In the teaser we see a return to the Halo 3 style with both the Marines and Master Chief as well as a return for black under suits and if these stay true in the game, what does it mean? Classic Theme: This doesn't really mean much, but its a nice nod to the fact that they are headed to what made Halo great. Mystery and Wonder: The Slipspace engine is the new engine for Halo Infinite and possibly every Halo game to come, and their website defines it as "Mystery and Wonder" "Inspired by the most iconic Halo moments to build the future of our legendary franchise." Which seems to imply that they are going back to there roots. Alive with Excitement: Also on the site is "Alive with Excitement" "A living, breathing world ripe for exploration and endless gameplay possibilities." This seems to back up the idea of an open world like game similar to Nintendo's Breath of the Wild from last year. Windows 10: The game looks to also be coming to Windows and Xbox which could lead to all future installments coming to PC as well and MCC possibly joining them later. Aren't those Marine designs from Halo Reach?
There's no way it's not a new engine. It looks nothing like BLAM.
warthogs still based off the 4/5 style too
Since it's so early, I doubt any of the designs are finalized. The new art director I believe got his big start with Halo Wars 2, which merged a lot of Bungie designs with 343i designs. What I find interesting is Chief's new helmet is actually cleaner than the Bungie Mark VI, I really like that approach, simplification will be very important if we're going for 60fps and split-screen. looks the same too me, just with a new paint job.
