Mass Effect Megathread: He said "I should go." Do I sound like that?
I replayed that game a couple days ago. The faces in that game are pretty HILARIOUSLY janky. Animation was probably at its best in ME2, imo. The run animations in 1 and 3 are so fucking stupid looking.
The running animation in ME2 was pretty terrible too. Just keep your head down and check there's no stain on your left shoulder.
I'm rewatching ME3 cutscenes... and It looks better than I remembered it?
I don't know why.
The writing of Liam's loyalty mission was pretty good. I honestly don't feel like mediocre animations will kill this game, as long as the story and characters are solid.
People act like ME3 didn't have shit animations and camera angles. Do people not remember talking with Liara while staring over your shoulder, even though she's right in front of you? Or the camera staring at a blank space after rescuing the Council?
It didn't, save for a few moments like the ones you mentioned, and the occasional clipping.
Cherry-picking won't help you since ME3 has by far the best camera work in the series, and its animations are overall pretty good as well.

ME1 had boring, static camera angles 90% of the time and no one seems to remember or care.
I think ME: Andromeda will be a flop, I can feel it. It'll probably have the best combat of the series, but everything else will be awful/mediocre.
What they've shown so far (at least, that i've seen) reminds me of Ubisoft open-world games; a massive, mostly empty open-world with random enemies, collectables and repetitive barely-engaging 'content' stuck all over the place.
Horizon Zero Dawn has shit facial animations and questionable voice acting at times, but overall I think it's an excellent game, I'm hoping the same will be the case for this game aswell, but when there's so much wrong with the game before it's even released, I'm wondering if when I play it, I'll end up finding more fucked up things.
Hopefully they're just making highlight reels to show the worst shit and when you actually play it you'll be blown away because everything is actually really good, they just wanted to make you believe the game was badly made in animations and shit.
Although I highly doubt that but it would be a good joke.

To be fair, they haven't been showing off many sidequests, and have been cutting dialogue from their official preview videos because people fly off the handle if they have even the tiniest bit of flavor text spoiled.
I want this game to be good so badly but I know in my heart of hearts that I'll probably be disappointed because, you know, Bioware. Being an ME fan is suffering.
Here's the whole scene, it looks pretty hilariously bad.

Are errors like this patchable?

Woof, forgot how bad that was. That said, the same game also gave us solid animation like this:

Lots of inconsistent quality.

I know its a small thing but god damn it, I was hoping we could at least get slightly alternate looks or colors. I hate how uniform Ryder, Liam and Cora look together, it makes them blend into the background even more since they're already just the normal humans(design -wise that is). I get they're all Andromeda Initiative reps and that the white/blue is meant to be an inversion on Shepards black/red but they're too similar. They should have kept Cora white/red like in the concept art(though keep the blonde sidecut, too Ashley otherwise) and taken Liam or Ryder in another direction.

Holy shit I am blind. God damn.
It also seems to have been confirmed that you can't switch team mate's weapons.
I don't fucking understand this game

That's disappointing. Alternate outfits feels like a given. At the very least an alternate received for doing their loyalty mission.
I am seriously wondering how some of this shit is getting past the people at BioWare, like SERIOUSLY wondering that, because I really don't get it, there's NO WAY that not a single person didn't see these problems, it's just a question of who the hell thought it was alright to just push it out like it's fine.

That scene, and when you first meet up with all the Krogan to cure the genophage. I always think it's hilarious how they're covered head to toe, sopping wet with blood.

Also, 5 years ago today was the first time I came out of FTL in the middle of the Geth-Quarian battle. And I'm doing it again today!

Mass Effect 3's ending might've been shit, but the little moments with all your squad mates, and that very last level where you're [sp]storming the beam, and Harbinger kicks your ass[/sp] was incredible.
What the hell I remember them distinctly saying you could "even customize your squadmates", of course all I took out of that were alternate appearances like before but apparently that idea flew right out of the window at some point.

It's probably just the colors of their outfits, if anything at all. Which is pretty bad. I hope there's at least something for finishing loyalty missions, but given that we can't even change their weapons I'm note hopeful.
You really can't change their weapons? What the fuck kind of idiocy is that? Where'd they say that?

I think the idea is that they'll upgrade their own weapons, and progressively get new stuff? But that's VERY weird to me.

Yeah, that's it.
that doesn't really imply they get new stuff. jani is asking specifically about weapon damage scaling. ian answers that it scales based on level and the skills you give them.
so they're making it sound like you can't give them new weapons or armor, and they "do their own thing" which may or may not imply they just get new weapon and armor or their weapon and armor remains the same, regardless their stats scale based on their level and skills and the game choose their own weapons and armor.
it still sounds like you, the player, cannot swap out their weapons and armor for something new.
That only upsets me because I really hate PeeBee's default outfit.
That's disappointing. Alternate outfits feels like a given. At the very least an alternate received for doing their loyalty mission.
Prepare for Alternate Outfit DLC. AGAIN.
I was already going to wait for this to be on sale before I bought it but now I don't even feel tempted to buy it at launch, not even a bit
I mean you couldn't really customize your followers a huge amount in ME2 and ME3, but you could still do something and that's been turned into "Combo system" from DAI, which although nice is pretty shallow.
The fuck bioware
Seems weird that they wouldn't include customisation for your squad after how fun gearing your guys up proved to be in DAI.
Idk if it's just because I'm a huge fucking nerd, but I loved giving all of my team unique outfits that not only looked cool and suited the characters, but also had all kinds of hilariously powerful passive effects on them.
One play through I managed to make all of my rouges into spinning death machines with armour and weapons that constantly shat out carpets of caltrops, making engaging my party almost impossible. Having your characters perform exactly the same way each play through, without even the option to change their weaponry, is really going to kill my urge to do multiple runs of the game.
