In general I just felt like the Reapers took a backseat to Cerberus and I really wish I knew why.
Because Cerberus is the coolest, it's the best, they're human and it's a counterpart to the Human Alliance only evil. It's symbolic.
Cerberus sucks, 80% of the time you're fighting them in a Reaper war.
My biggest complaint with the reapers is that they seemed to scrap the whole 'each a nation, each unique' thing between 2 and 3. The last shot of 2 showing all the different kinds of reapers bearing down on the milky way had so many unique designs, yet when it came to 3 they all had classes that shared the same design.
What's double weird about that is...they already made all those assets and got them in engine. There's nothing stopping them from using them in ME3 but they chose not to. Very disappointing.
I preferred fighting Cerberus, tbh. The reason you were fighting them was dumb, but I preferred their ground troops to the husks. Maybe a better idea would have been to fight indoctrinated soldiers from all the races instead of one big organization?
I never really minded the Baby-Reaper, I thought it was a pretty cool twist, even if it looked silly. Billions of people mind raped and forcibly conjoined into a single over-mind, yeah, sounds like the end result could be pretty Lovecraftian in nature. IIRC, they were testing human viability for Reaper material, or as a backup to Sovereign's vanguard gig. Which doesn't make much sense, seeing as they'd been on the move since Sovereign bit the dust, and wouldn't be anywhere near the theoretical relay in dark space. Perhaps just getting a headstart for the harvest.
What was dumb was that Harbinger pretty much only spoke in memetic one-liners, and Cerberus overshadowing them almost completely as opponents. Add to that that all the unique and interesting designs went out the window in 3, not to mention their pants-on-head retarded motivation.
The Reapers got shafted worst of all.
"I KNOW YOU FEEL THIS, SHEPARD"
How terrifying. That's the work of a stalker, not an unspeakably powerful sentient machine/warship.
To be honest, Reapers have always suffered from being less than the first impression. For example the fact that Sovering is too busy playing as a Geth hopper to care about silly things like not dying to ships much weaker than you. Plus having a temper tantrum trough Saren after Eden Prime.

Overall there was way too little indoctrination in 3. It was less of an overwhelming power than it was just a way for certain elements of the plot to advance. Like any of the stupid shit Cerberus does just comes down to "oh they're indoctrinated", yet indoctrination itself isn't seen in the game. We should've seen more and more just completely Reaper-controlled people show up, hell make the attack on Citadel come from thousands of indoctrinated refugees and other people. It could've been an intense stage where you don't know who you're fighting for and who's fighting against you. Instead Cerberus is there doing god knows what just so the dramatic stakes would get higher.
Overall the focus on Cerberus of 3 just makes no sense, apart from using them because they were a major point in 2. We should've seen the Reaper's destruction of Earth first-hand, making the survival to Normandy more than a 10-minute jog across rooftops. We should've been fighting an almost impossible battle on the surface while we're seeing the forces we've been rounding up get absolutely decimated in space. Instead we got a game about using a MacGuffin against machines that were made out to be more than they needed to, while some assholes get in our way with every step we take.
I just don't really get it. The dramatic stakes for Mass Effect 3 were so high from the get-go, and the potential it had was amazing. You've got a well-established world with a lot of characters people already cared about under attack by a seemingly invincible race of killer-machines. Everything you've been doing, everything you've seen and everything you've come to care about is getting absolutely destroyed. All it needed to do was tell the simple story of how Shepard overcomes this impossible task, even though it takes so much out of them.
ME3 should have been about building the arks and sending some people to Andromeda. We still get destroyed by the reapers (there really should be no way to "win" against the reapers) but at least we keep our species alive. Plenty of room for intrigue and betrayal, and it could be an effective send-off for the trilogy's cast of characters - a sacrifice that actually means something in the big picture.
ME3 should've powered through the plot leaks, and kept its original storyline.

I kinda wish this video did more showing, and less telling. The 5 seconds I got to hear of Jaal's voice were interesting. I think the female Angara in this video look less like a bad Smash Bros skeleton swap than the one lone lady on the ice planet. Maybe it's just the way the clothing hangs on their body? Either way, these guys are neato.
Jaal looks really interesting, I actually really like the Angaran look because they are quite otherwordly and not super "humanoid alien 234" like Asari.
So, that animation at 0:47. Is that another "quality" animation of Bioware or is that the Angaras way of handshaking?
Looked similar to the one you give Wrex on Tuchanka in three if you use the paragon interrupt.

I thought it was a quality bioware displaced animation at first, but if you look closely a split second before that scene you see that it is actually a Angaran handshake type of thing where they touch forearms.
I'm hoping that's what it is, but with the amount of mistakes people have found, it just looked like another one.
I would like for this game to do well in all honesty but these animation mistakes are a bit worrying to say the least. Even if it does flop, at least the animation mistakes have given me a good laugh so far.

No thanks this one is tolerable to look at.

who wrapped that hairy hot dog in lettuce?
Who forced that Cartel member to wear a 12 year old's clothing
a man's head into a little boy body
The launch trailer and this new Jaal video spoil a pretty big plot point of the game, just because of one line Ryder says in it.
I have a feeling with 6 squadmates being available there might be a heavy emphasis on DLC being new squadmate focused.
I gotta love one of those dialogue wheel options. "Yep, so are you." "NO BIGOTS ALLOWED." Jesus Christ.
Multiplayer trailer coming out tomorrow, finally.

Nah, both ME1 and ME3 had 6 (7 with Javik) squadmates and that ended up working fine. Javik being DLC was almost universally regarded as a poor decision, and other than that Bioware's story DLC has a pretty solid track record.

At 1:29, the door that's open behind them isn't meant to be openned.
There's literally an entire back of the KODIAK that's not being rendered, so you see the outside of the ship.

Did they not have QA for the cutscenes or did they just not listen to what they said?
The words "Day One Patch" keep springing to mind

Whats all the pro-human stuff they keep going on about. What about all the other races that are involved in this expedition? Chopped Salarian liver? Like if this was a game all about being a Cerberus Operative I could understand but every bit of promotional stuff is about Humans or Humanity. Hell even their release trailer song is "Human" for fucks sake.

Well you are the human Pathfinder. Looking for a home for humanity first and foremost. The other races have their own Pathfinders and stories. While I imagine you cross paths with them occasionally they can handle their own shit. I hope. Probably not. It's so gonna be Ryder being a big godamn hero.
