• Mass Effect Megathread: He said "I should go." Do I sound like that?

Gameplay wise the game is fantastic. Story wise, I'm not a great judge. Animation wise, hit and miss, facial animations are mostly iffy, movement and what not are pretty good however.
I don't get the UI complaints What are people experiencing? I only played on my PC with a controller but the menus never bugged out for me
I don't particularly give a shit about them either, and them being hilariously bad at some points...I'm definitely gonna wait for some reviews after it comes out.
when they're bad, they're awful (or great depending on how you look at them - there's an asarian doctor on the nexus that never moves her face when she speaks while her eyes go commando which is creepy/funny for example) but people are vastly overestimating how frequently the terrible animations happen. it's not nearly as common as people are trying to make them look like i'd say the cheesy dialogue happens more often. at least from the trial, don't buy mass effect expecting to be moved by its writing
I don't get the UI complaints
i dont get it either i'm not saying "wow this UI is perfect and vastly improving my experience in this game", but i never say that to anything the UI is far from being a problem and even farther from being one of the worst i ever endured in a big game and at least its quick and responsive enough unlike the fucking witcher 3 menus taking 5 seconds every time i switched a tab
The UI is a bit slow and large in places, like it's not utilising the screen space properly, the responsiveness also feels a little off, it's a usable UI and it's not near as bad as people are making it out to be, but it could be improved.
Here's the article I mentioned www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2017/03/16/this-is-why-its-a-bad-idea-for-games-like-mass-effect-andromeda-to-have-piecemeal-embargoes/amp/
I tried to start up SP but I can't deal with the defaults and I'm shitty at CC so I'll just wait for Sokrates to upload his Ryder before I touch that. What I tried of multiplayer was laggy as fuck, with each of us loading in, just as the last player died, meaning we auto lost. After that my connection was shit but from what brief bits of uninterrupted gameplay I got, I enjoyed
The multiplayer UI is fucking atrocious, though it is fine in SP.
yyyyep.
All I can say is what a tragic waste of Clancy Brown.
Whelp the game keeps freezing on me now I'm trying to play through the story some. Seems every pre-rendered video sequence has a 50% chance of not playing so it just is stuck doing nothing until I kill the program. I really wanted this to be good but all these little molehills are starting to add up.

Man, fuck the kett in mp. [editline]17th March 2017[/editline] An ascendant literally wiped half my sqaud when it spawned right next to the objective we were sitting on. [editline]17th March 2017[/editline] Nevermind the big ogre thing that came in behind him
What enemy types are included in Andromeda's multiplayer? Does it have Geth, Collectors, and Reapers as an option again or only new enemy types?
Only new afaik
I'm torn on ME:A. So Im just gonna write up some random thoughts. I really loved the MP in ME3 thats where most of my playtime went but ME:A MP feels weird. Also for some reason bronze difficulty feels like hitting a truck. You have water pistols, enemy is made of concrete, being bullet sponges, while you are made out of paper. I can't remember ME3 bronze being that hard. Part of that difficulty spike is the extremely rushing nature of the AI. Especially Kett. Gotta love the invisible dog things right from wave one. The maps are also small, with the exception of the one desert map. I loved the ME3 maps a lot more. ME:A ones barely give you room to use snipers. Oh yea, fuck the big Kett elite, literally executes you in one hit if you get too close and grabs you. The UI is also clunky and clearly made for controller in mind. The seemingly random, at times inconsistent keyboard shortcuts are annoying. Sometimes its ESC to go back, or T to exit the map, space to confirm here, enter on another screen. You get used to it but yea. Lastly there is the shitty animations and other bugs. Feels really unpolished. Besides all that I kinda enjoyed the story more this time.
Playing on Xbox, I really like the mp. The difficulty is a little high, the only enemies I seem to make it to extraction with are the remnants. Im only level 6 on the male human adept so I guess I can understand having difficulty, but I played with a level 12 guy and against the kett on bronze he still had trouble. Another game I had to disable some scanner things and it seemed like no matter how many enemies we killed, we were still getting overwhelmed. Maybe it was the tight corridors?
So, dunno if anyone else pointed it out, but the default Alec Ryder looks like a main character, while the Ryder twins look more like NPC's. Is it just me? Also, a question, is Alec always a Biotic? In the trial I played an Adept, so he did some crazy biotic stuff, but if you play a pure soldier or tech guy, does he still use biotics?

Just like how in the original trilogy Shepard is always capable of using biotics even if you never use them.
Played it 6h yesterday, i don't know why people get crazy about the animations, i had a lot of fun playing it.
Played it 6h yesterday, i don't know why people get crazy about the animations, i had a lot of fun playing it.
The marketing team fucked up by showing mostly the worst animations in the gameplay trailers, and there are a ton of cherrypicked videos showing off just the janky animations. The animations people are mocking are terrible, but the majority of the game is fine at worst.
Played it 6h yesterday, i don't know why people get crazy about the animations, i had a lot of fun playing it.
Because people took a 5 minute compilation video as representative impression of the entire game.
Just like how in the original trilogy Shepard is always capable of using biotics even if you never use them.
? I don't remember that, unless you mean switching to a Biotic class in the beginning of a game.
So long as it looks decent, it seems that a custom face can avoid (most of) the expression problems. Particularly a custom Sara versus the default.
While I am liking the story so far, I think finding out that [sp] all of the habitats became fucked up during the 600 years for some reason and trying to find out the fuck happened + finding places to settle [/sp] is miles more engaging than for example chasing some rogue spectre across the galaxy. But there really haven't been many memorable moments so far, the trilogy was filled with them, even during the first few hours. Like first seeing the citadel, being made into a spectre, Shepard's speech when taking control of the Normandy, the destruction/rebirth of the normandy, leaving earth while it's under attack by reapers etc. I just really hope we will get moments like that in the full game.
? I don't remember that, unless you mean switching to a Biotic class in the beginning of a game.
I'm guessing Red Sand in ME2 also, which lore-wise only works for biotics, makes Shepard light up in biotic aura.
So don't start a new save if you still have trial time left. Either this was a one-time bug or the game doesn't properly reset everything, so the opening is botched up due to generic NPCs and later scripting interfering with the events.
So will i be able to continue my trial save when tthe game releases? or do i have to restart?
So will i be able to continue my trial save when tthe game releases? or do i have to restart?
The trial save should carry over, the Origin access page says "Try it for a full 10 hours and your progress carries over". Edit: Anyone playing the game with a GTX 970? If so how is the performance for the game, is it well optimised?
But there really haven't been many memorable moments so far, the trilogy was filled with them, even during the first few hours. I don't mind it that much, i'm sure they're still there, it's going to be a long game. Mass Effect 2 had the big flashy opening but for the next few hours it was kinda slow and boring too before picking up the pace again imho I'm more upset about how little freedom you had in dialogue and how little memorable the characters are so far. And the voice acting choices are kinda..... questionable to say the least.
II'm more upset about how little freedom you had in dialogue
I might be on my own in this, but I think choosing between the 2 - 4 options feels much better than "good response / fuckhead response" from the OT (which isn't to say I don't like the dialogue in the OT, it's just fairly polarized, and doesn't feel like I can swap tones very easily).
