Mass Effect Megathread: He said "I should go." Do I sound like that?

I know it's been beaten to death already, but I really hope Bioware fixes the eyes in Andromeda soon. I was looking over some of my ME2 screenshots and in almost every single image, the eyes look better.

And yeah, the game still has plenty of jank but the eyes have DEPTH, instead of looking like pure white orbs with painted irises. Just compare to the official shot from a month ago.

Really hope they get this sorted for release. A 7 year old game shouldn't be surpassing your new one in any aspect on a technical level.
Is the character creator bad compared to the other Mass Effect games or just bad compared to others like Dragon Age Inquisition? I can live with it either way, it just didn't look too bad to me from what little I saw of it.
It's bad compared to any I've ever used. There's 9 presets to get started, but unlike previous games there's no "mix-n-match" ability. Whatever eye shape, mouth shape, nose shape, etc is on that preset is what you are stuck with. You can alter it to a minor degree, but it's not even close to previous games.
What the fuck? Her face is completely different?
...Also her eyes are shaded. Unlike the PC version
I really think it was just a glitch, because he was customizing his Ryder and backed out to the default Ryder again and it applied the face shape of the custom Ryder to Sara Ryder.
Or who knows, maybe they made a mistake and patched the Xbox version and not the PC version. I only say this because that blurry NPC isn't behind Cora when she restores gravity to the cryo bay in their video, while every other video I've seen does have it happen.
Though a magical patch fixing all the issues is something I have a hard time believing.
- Squadmate customization and ability to control them in combat is right on the edge of nonexistent. Can't control their armor, weapons, or ability usage, which is a fucking nightmare given Cora loves to charge in close and get annihilated.
wait what
i'm fairly sure i saw an option to customize loadouts for companions, i just never used because i just let them do their thing with autolevel up on

its bad compared to pretty much everything.
limited options on how to model your face, no options for different mouth/nose/eye types, hell not even different eyebrows you just move them up and down on your face
apparently they will fix it soon but right now its lacking
Bioware isn't making this game. BioWare Montreal is and they haven't made anything before this. I'm surprised no one is talking about that.
What the fuck? Her face is completely different?

It's a glitch. Too many things are different for it to be a "fix", the entire facial structure: cheek bones are higher, jaw line is narrower and rounder, the eyes are slanted differently, brows are different. It's a wrongly applied skin texture.
Apparently you can fucking get intercom messages from characters you haven't even fucking recruited yet.
Oh well, I may as well get Andromeda, since I recived a € 20 Steam wallet code for my birthday.
... Wait
...
... Fuck
Bioware isn't making this game. BioWare Montreal is and they haven't made anything before this. I'm surprised no one is talking about that.
Because it isn't true.
The build team is responsible for three's combat and while the best of them (literally, both the guys that carried MP like absolute champs) quit or went to Edmonton. Montreal wasn't some bush league intern program until they started replacing decade-vets with said interns.
... Do I even want to answer to such a compelling argument?
its not even an argument it's me posting based on what I see around various forums and comment sections: people denouncing the game because of animations and preemptively calling it a massive failure and people complaining about the creators being SJWs.
I'm not saying the animations are good and that there aren't issues. But when the same thing keeps getting regurgitated saying that's proof that the game is an overall failure then meh. If it was animations the story being an overall poorly written mess (genuinely bad not a "I don't like these plot points"), gameplay being an awful buggy mess then yeah the game will be a failure.
The internet is just stupid the way, it's either black or white for a lot of people instead of grey

This is true, but only because of where the trial blocks you out, it even lets you setup loadouts and a squad, but it boots you out, and right after that mission you get both PB and Drack.
I played the Ori Acce trial and Im satisfied with the game so far and will definitely buy. Gotta admit it does have quite a bit of quirks here and there, obviously the animations but I also noticed some weird visual artifacts during dialog (black dots in the background). The animations did not bother me as much as I expected from the material they have shown, the only one that actually bothered me was Addison, the short-haired woman. My main gripe with the game so far is probably the starmap, the navigation is so god damn slow it gets old real quick, I wish they added an option to disable the transitions and skip directly to planet view. Another thing missing is quick-save but at least it has somewhat been confirmed to be added later on.

Not according to Bioware and the actual in game credits.

the "former" part is quite revealling though, she definitely still worked for bioware right before the trials went up
so... it's not her fault but we're firing her anyway?
(and just to be clear no i don't think its all her fault. no one is responsible alone for all the animations in such a huge game. i just think they're using her as a scapegoat anyway)

Or she could have left before people decided to dig her up.
Doesn't matter what way you look at this its fucking stupid that people are going on this witch hunt.
No game is perfect but just because its Bioware people feel the need to single out specific members of staff (who in this case didn't even work on the game) to assign blame to them, its totally pathetic.

People do a lot of this in general nowadays. And let's be honest, a lot of people did this on the lead writer for ME3.

of course, i'm not disputing that, you posted before my edit even
the whole situation is a mess and companies won't be affected by it. it falls up on the small links, like her.

Small links like her, you mean EA employees that didn't work on the game are now responsible for the quality of the game.

She worked at bioware before and now she doesn't. So yeah, regardless of who's responsible in the end, it had an impact on her career which is my point. But this is really a fruitless discussion so no need to prolong it further.
My resolve is weakening. I think I might preorder.
don't forget to do it from EA access or Origin Access to get that 10% discount if you do
My resolve is weakening. I think I might preorder.

know who else doesn't work at bioware anymore? as of a month before release, manveer "white tears" heir, lead gameplay designer of mass effect andromeda.

so what a nice coincidence that all of these employees of bioware are now "former" suddenly.
That dude can post all the "white tears" shit on Twitter he wants if he's responsible for this fun ass gameplay to be honest.
So, when are we getting the Save Editor for this one?
Apparently the lead animator was a 24 year old with no experience doing animation
I wonder if animating porn counts as experience in animation when written/typed up on a CV, like it might be porn but it's still animation work.
Clearly you didn't find out about the [sp]Geth created Relay that was a telescope of sorts that the Alliance gained control of, so they were able to view the Andromeda galaxy pretty much as it was 600 years prior to getting there.[/sp]
Something to do with FTL basically, I can't quite remember but you find this out from someone, either on the Tempest or somewhere else.
Oh you were right. [sp]The Geth built an array using three mass relays to view the Heleus cluster. But it didn't say how long ago they were viewing it. It could have been one thousand years ago.[/sp]
It was in the golden world briefing video. There's a codex entry that shows up around 1:25.
I said apparently because it wasn't confirmed or anything, I wasn't on a witch hunt, I just said what was at the time apparent information, with it being not true and me having no horse in the race, I honestly don't care.
Wow. When your trial ends, it just cuts to black. Doesn't matter if you were in the middle of a mp game. :\

Every Origin trial does this though.
I don't think those animations are the fault of any one person but more like the project was incredibly mismanaged.
I don't think those animations are the fault of any one person but more like the project was incredibly mismanaged.
This is pretty likely. They were advertising that there's as much dialogue in Andromeda as in ME2 and ME3 combined. That puts a huge amount of strain on the animation department and if they aren't given enough resources to keep up with that kind of an increase, then that likely leads to what we're seeing.
That doesn't given them a free pass of course, but it's possible that it's less an act of incompetence and more an act of "Too much dialogue, too little time." I imagine we'll know more a few months after release.
Every Origin trial does this though.
This is the first game release I've played the full 10 hours for, I figured it would give me a notification of some sort. I mean in hindsight, I realize that's not gonna happen of course.
