Mass Effect Megathread: He said "I should go." Do I sound like that?

I think its also worth noting that there is still some interesting pieces of story inside. I have only played like 5 hours of the trial so maybe it gets really bad, but I enjoyed the squad banter, felt their stories were acceptable, and some of the side quests like the nexus murder case were interesting.
I cannot say if the rest of the game holds up or if my standards are comparable to anyone reading this.
It looks like a decent game, but the negative in this series tends to be hyperbolized, after all.
Huh, there's a 500MB update. Maybe they were able to push out some bug fixes before release.
They released a patch last night, claimed it fixed the MP sound bug and black screens, also the whole corsair utility bug, game also runs better for me now on Eos, no drivers installed yet.
Where can I find my DLC stuff?
Where can I find my DLC stuff?
The singleplayer stuff is in your room on the Tempest. Multiplayer stuff is in the rewards section of the store.
Is there a good free VPN I can use to unlock the game?
27X I'm curious, do you feel what went wrong with this game was more the fact that rookies developed it, or was there serious internal/leadership problems? Its becoming clear at least to me that this game has had a troubled development and is very bipolar in its qualities.
Both. The head of MP is a super super nice guy... but he's also the guy that made two of the WORST maps in 3sp/mp, Condor and London. He's going to have a full plate, and the MP is literally unfinished, unhardened. Nothing is smooth, nothing is tight, when you click your character tries their best, not does the thing you told them to do like a pro. Corey and Eric led the charge to getting 3mp to a place where they released two DLCs they didn't even plan to because people were giving them that much money and time, now that stuff is going to be literal rng.
Something is rotten in Denmark.
The meta is all over the place, and all the issues with alpha aside from positional audio are still there, and having to use cards to unlock you last skill tree if you minmax is total and absolute bullshit, and that was probably not his idea, given his personality, but there it is, literal pay/rng to win. Without the I-X cards, your character is stuck 6/6/6/0/0 AND if you don't want to pay for mission fund progression you have to play SP.
As for SP, slapping people about the head and face with fanfiction writing and smug political diatribes with your best impersonation of Joss Whedon is simply not going to stand the test of time. Never has, never will.

Truer words never spoken.
Fucking hell, thanks for the info man. I'm sure I'll still enjoy the game but I'm tempering my already low expectations, MP is the last thing I expected them to fuck up though, damn.

Does this guy have a boner for tiny maps? Two of the three maps I played on during the trial were tiny, and Condor and London are super packed in. There's almost nowhere to fall back to if shit gets out of hand.
I'm hoping the SP will at least be cozy. Like romp around cool looking planets, with my raptor space queen and afro bro while shooting people and enjoying the little things.
:disappoint:
So the new ME is basically buy Titanfall 2 instead?
Amazon is insistent that the game will arrive at my house by 8pm tomorrow.
It's also insistent that the game will ship soon.
So the new ME is basically buy Titanfall 2 instead?
I mean, buy Titanfall 2 regardless, but they're completely different games.
what if they just have a cloaca
Turians are always adorable so it is an acceptable sacrifice
Don't they mention that at that bachelor party in ME2, how asari look like an attractive blue version of each species
Don't they mention that at that bachelor party in ME2, how asari look like an attractive blue version of each species
It's mind-control man.
They wouldn't go through the trouble for something like that judging by the Asari.
I was never invested in the lore but have they ever said why Asari are literally just blue humans?
I saw the Peanut Butter romance scene and that popped into mind randomly.
Give them some squid boobs or multiple belly buttons or something instead of recycling the same models.
The Asari are blue humans with dumb shit on their head as a homage to TV sci-fi like Star Trek and Babylon 5 where most of the aliens are just people with dumb bullshit stuck to their faces.
I have a setting-related question about Andromeda this time around.
Since one of the main selling point of the game, as far as the story is concerned, is that you are playing a colonist trying to tame a galaxy where the Council's races are totally unknown, how exactly do the encounters with the resident aliens play out? Do they speak fluent English without any reason whatsoever? o you must overcome a language barrier? Do they cover your character with questions about humanity and their customs?
I'm asking because I've always loved the theme of humanity meeting other unknown sentient beings with their same level of intellect, and if this aspect is done right in Andromeda I might even consider purchasing it earlier

This is a game where you can fuck Aliens.
If there is a barrier, it's not obstructing anything vocal related.

Having only played the trial, the Kett speak their own language that you can't understand. I imagine they get added to the auto-translate thing at some point. Didn't mean any Angarans during the trial but I can only imagine they play by the same rules.

More specifically, from a design standpoint, they're supposed to be the space babes.
That's the exact term the art book used BTW.
I will say one thing now that more and more of the game is being revealed; I'm still not sold on it, but I like Ryder's sense of humor, and I think the male voice actor does it exceptionally well. Though he does sound uncannily like Nolan North half the time :v:
Does anyone know if there's a way to cap the framerate at 30 on the PC version? Ultra at 30 looks so good compared to medium/high at a shaky 60 on my setup, but using external tools is a bit of pain.

you could lock your monitor to 30 hz if you have the option through your graphics cards software, you could do that in Nvidia's control panel if you needed to, then use vysnc to force it to your screens refresh rate

I spoke too soon, apparently.

Andromeda's dialogue system has the same issue I had with the one from Mass Effect 3, and, when it comes to Male!Ryder, I hate it more than Fallout 4's, which is really saying something.
Most of the time you are given only two options, with your character either acting like a toughest kid on the block gigolo or a preaching stereotypical nice guy.
I actually miss the old karma meters of old
Probably when the first Mass Effect was made, they didn't have enough time, budget, or other factors that ended up with the Asari having a ton of human-like features.
[editline]20th March 2017[/editline]
What would be a neat factor is that in the sequel, you can choose to play as the other sibling while still going through the consequences affected by the previous game.
In the art book they actually go great lengths at discussing how they wanted each species to look more alien but couldn't because of how their skeletons work and they didn't have the time to make a new system.
it wasn't quite their highest score ever

DA2 is like a 6/10 at best. And that's after all the post launch fixes and dlc, not on launch.
There are some parts I like about it but jesus is it not a good game.
Not to beat on a dead horse (animations) but honestly it really is impressive in a sad way. Yes, I expect the development version to look better visually, like all the models and textures, that is expected. But the loss of all those facial animations? Just why? They were perfect and only makes me wonder how much of ME:A was remade or junked out despite being brilliant.
