So are there any other places to pick it up cheap? Because seriously fuck GMG's whole situation regarding this game
So are there any other places to pick it up cheap? Because seriously fuck GMG's whole situation regarding this game
It's just two days. Chill out.
You can get a discount through Amazon Prime if that's any consolation.
Two days that they didn't bother to notify people who had pre-ordered beforehand about. They also fucked over a shitload of people who pre-ordered earlier as they straight up advertised that it was going to be out on the 21st before the refund period ended on their pre-orders. So yeah. Fuck them.
It's two fucking days. Two. Two days. It's not like they've cancelled everyone's pre-orders at the last minute it's just a 48 hour delay.
It's not as bad as it could be, but it's still bad.
I don't even care that it's two fucking days. You don't clearly mislead people like that. A cursory glance at any of their social media shows that no one was fucking notified that the date they would receive the game changed. Oh and it did change. Before the date was silently changed, the site was plastered with banners saying "Get ME:A ON THE 21st" That's disgusting tactics, and the only place that they notified people was on their support site.
DA2 is like a 6/10 at best

not a good game.
In the end, reviews and numbers really only say so much. I think DA2 is great, but that is because I had lowered expectations and I knew it went through a very troubled development and I can ignore the reuse of environments because I felt the story and experience was enough for me. But I also love STALKER and that shit is far more jank than DA2 or ME:A
I caved in and got it. I mean, it can't be as big a flop as no man's sky right.
There are a lot of familiar faces still ambling around here. How goes the latest "Bioware" game.
TotalBiscuit's squadmates prefer to ignore the gravity altogether
There are a lot of familiar faces still ambling around here. How goes the latest "Bioware" game.
General consensus seems to be "Great combat and environments, but lackluster plot/character writing, and very poor animation work." 7/10 seems realistic.
DA2 is like a 6/10 at best. And that's after all the post launch fixes and dlc, not on launch. There are some parts I like about it but jesus is it not a good game.
6/10, but not a good game? How does that even work? You can't say something "is not a good game" and then give it an above average score.
except the average in video game reviews have been ~7-8 for the past decade
except the average in video game reviews have been ~7-8 for the past decade
Which is fucking stupid. And don't give any "It's like grades in school" shit because 70% is a pass in school because if you nly know 50% of something you don't know it nearly well enough. Reviews are not measurements of how much a game got right.
6/10, but not a good game? How does that even work? You can't say something "is not a good game" and then give it an above average score.
a 3 to 6/10 is often completely forgettable, things outside that range tends to be in some way memorable. on that basis a game can be both average and terrible. a rating is 90% context which is why rating systems are stupid
"Great combat and environments, but lackluster plot/character writing, and very poor animation work."
That seems... backwards for a Bioware game. Well except for the animations being bad, that seems the same.
6/10, but not a good game? How does that even work?
I'm not going to be playing Andromeda so I don't want you to believe i'm talking about this particular score, but calling a 6/10 score bad is right in the ballpark buddy. In today's world of GameSpot, IGN, GI, and all the others, anything below a 7 is pretty bad. Especially when it's a AAA-class developer/IP being scored. Even if we're using sensible ratings (4-Below Avg, 5-Avg, 6-Abv Avg, etc) a 6/10 game is not good by any stretch of the imagination. It would be an above average title, which is why it would be ranked as such.
Installing now yeeeeet
That seems... backwards for a Bioware game. Well except for the animations being bad, that seems the same.
Yeah, it's kinda weird. Combat is fast and punchy and they finally added some verticality. Inventory system seems to be a much refined version of ME1's and same goes for the loot system (with some DAI style crafting elements because of course). The Nomad is the Mako except it controls well, though I miss the bigass turret. Writing though...people describe it as "Mass Effect if it were a Marvel movie" and that's not too far off the mark, though I'd argue the Marvel movies actually pull it off. A lot of witty dialogue, even when unnecessary, lack of emotional resonance, and some VERY awkward acting. I'm not sure it's bad so much as it's a jarringly different tone from the (relatively) serious original trilogy. Male Ryder reminds me of Nathan Drake in a lot of respects.

It was clearly rushed as hell, but damn if that cast of characters doesn't pull its weight in keeping the story entertaining.
Alright game with a lot of flaws. [editline]20th March 2017[/editline] I think the story is a very entertaining trainwreck. Playing through the game using only funny responses is the only way to play through the game.
https://my.mixtape.moe/yugchn.mp4 Damn i wonder what happened? It seems that animations were better last year then on release. Also this game sure does have some hilarious glitches, same scene as above
It's two fucking days. Two. Two days. It's not like they've cancelled everyone's pre-orders at the last minute it's just a 48 hour delay.
for people like myself, it's my weekend so it's my time to play the game it's not like people are pulling their hair out over it but it's not okay just cause you say it is
I would be pretty pissed too if i planned ahead and took a day off to play a new game and suddenly the site i bought it from said "lol jk we're only giving it to you two days later sorry" 15 minutes to go, hold me thread
Not to beat on a dead horse (animations) but honestly it really is impressive in a sad way. Yes, I expect the development version to look better visually, like all the models and textures, that is expected. But the loss of all those facial animations? Just why? They were perfect and only makes me wonder how much of ME:A was remade or junked out despite being brilliant. https://my.mixtape.moe/yugchn.mp4 sourced from https://www.reddit.com/r/masseffect/comments/60j6e2/no_spoilers_i_wonder_what_happened_between_this/
Makes you wonder a few things really. If this is legit, what the flying fuck. If this isn't legit, the models being altered aswell as the animations, but the quality being dropped to lowest settings, then they can get out. I wonder if at some point the game went from Unreal Engine to Frostbite during development and they only salvaged some assets, and mostly rebuilt shit quickly, like with the differences to the Krogan's Armour and what not, because if this game was built up on the Frostbite engine there's no excuse to have stuff look bad since that engine just doesn't seem to be capable of looking anything less than good.
Only an hour in and this game feels like a clusterfuck. It's like it doesn't know what it wants to be. So it tries to be everything.
Has anyone gotten a Steam Controller/Dualshock 4 to work on this during the trial? They're my only wireless options, but it seems nearly impossible to get Steam and Origin to play nicely together.
Everything I've heard has said controllers were seamless on pc, but I'm a console pleb so I didnt try. Figures, early nights at work for a month straight, then tonight I actually want a short night and it's gonna be late.
